There looks to be at least 6' of height below the ground floors of all those homes. 6' is quite a lot. I'm glad to hear the storm has weakened; I assume this means less surge, too. Not according to all the talking head cheerleaders on TV with their VR prognostications.

Our neighborhood is high and dry so if you get flooded out come up here and hang out for a while. I Know my girls would love to see you. Thanks Billy , things are looking better here as far as the amount of water we'll receive .
rebuy
News guys standing on the waters edge. I wonder if they'll be there all night? That guy on Fox news almost fell over and he's right on the water's edge.
wvu80
Are you guys following the projected path? Landfall has not changed in NC, then it will twist counter-clockwise towards SC, but this next part is new to me; the whole storm shoots northward towards Pittsburgh! https://weather.com/storms/hurricane-central/AL062018
oldtimer
Well, it's like Puerto Rico, Dave. No one cares if it isn't happening to them.

I saw where a six foot surge was predicted for Myrtle Beach. They are expected to catch a Cat 1 with 12-18" of rain. I'm getting ready to call Scott to see how North Myrtle is doing. I can see it on TV, but he's looking out the window of the police store.
oldtimer
Myrtle going to get the worst in around 24 hours.
wvu80
Scott says as of early Fri AM light rain in Mytrle, all utilities still turned on so they have electric and water. I'm already tired of watching weather people in hip waders standing in knee high water. 😒 FYI no WVU football this weekend. WVU at NC State has been canceled and I don't think they are going to reschedule.

windashine
every time I saw a news story, about plywood and boarding up windows, there was a Dewalt... I would wager that if dewalt had an adapter for a cell phone battery, even if a coil up cord was in the design, everyone would want one !
