Glad to see you are still alive and kicking, Ed! Maybe you and your princess could make the Indy trip so that she can see what all of this "Klipsch Fuss" is all about! I hope your health continues to get better...and yes, I definitely DO KNOW how much a good woman can help that happen, even though it's been awhile since I had a good woman of my own! Holler at me sometime soon so that I can update my connections to you...I wanna keep in touch...no telling what may come up in the near future! The way things are looking, my address could be changing sometime after July of this year to someplace (temporarily) in the Middle East...I went back into the Army Reserve, and am currently attending a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) reclassification course...will be a human resources specialist...which just so happens to be a critical-need MOS at the moment, so after I finish it, they could well be calling me up...guess that's what happens when one is 51 years old in the military, and is looking for something besides toting a rifle as an infantryman and trying to keep up with 20-year-olds on a battlefield...LOL! No big deal to me...after all...SOMEBODY has to do the paperwork to get the awards recommendations in for those hero-types who get put in for medals...and solve the pay problems the others have...etc! Holler at me in email and update your contact stuff, Ed! Good to have you back!

Ed,

Great to hear how wonderful life is for you. It's no wonder California is called the land of milk and honey. The location of the resort sounds fantastic, northern CA at it's best. When you open for business, please send me a PM or email. I'd love to take a day or two off in the Santa Cruz area.

Congratulations, and the best to you, your new bride and upcoming family.

Klipsch out.

Hey, Ed, this is the best and finest news I've heard in many, many months. We are SO THRILLED for your continuing vitality, both in body and spirit. Yes, there is nothing like newfound love and happiness to provide the incentive to confound the experts, WHICH YOU HAVE DONE repeatedly.

Please, let us know when you're opening your resort to visitors. I think a west coast Klipsch meeting there would be a blast. We promise to leave your place standing and in one piece.

Hot damn, what great news to get today!

Ed,

Once again you've proven the old adage, "Age is time, and time is relative." Glad to see you're back amongst us. I've been MIA from this forum myself for almost a year, and came back this morning and was greeted with your delightful news. Congratulations, my friend, and enjoy every day. :-)

Cheers,

Colin

Ed,

though we have not 'talked' a lot with each other, it was your first posts on the SVS Ultras which kindled my interest in a sub upgrade. Well, it took time, but it was done - due to your very thorough review - and enriches my audio experience every day.

So thanks a lot....and you are really lucky having met your Swiss companion. I wish you all the best and it's nice to know that life might still offer a few pleasant surprises (apart from just another audio toy -LOL).

Hooray!! that is great news on two counts:

1. You aren't dead

2. Your posts are as entertaining as always.

Welcome back, without you here we have had to depend on Fini for entertainment.

And lastly a testimonial - I, like many others here, got several pieces of sage advice from Ed and he went the extra step to get me over the hump and decide to build my modified center. It is always nice to hear from one of the good guys again...

Woohoo!!! HornEd is still amoung us!! So glad that you are doing better. I just finished mounting a Cornwall as my Center channel and I must say that you posts on the subject spurred me to do (even though it did take me a year or two to finally get it all together).

So wow what more to say glad you are still here!!

FanTasTic, HornEd!!

Thanks so much for posting. Really enjoy hearing from you even if I don't hang out in this forum as much as I used to. I stole one of your ideas and stacked a pair of SVS Ultra subs in my HT. Heres the photos: http://www.sweetnancy.com/stackingultras.htm Didn't invert one, but did co-locate 'em. A very cool solution for footprint and phase issues. Thanks for the idea!

Anyway, Great to hear you're still kicking and that you've found LOVE. That's what makes the kicking worthwhile, someone to share it with. I don't know if your resort is open to the public, but it sounds like a slice of heaven and a place I would LOVE to take Sweet Nancy to someday.

Best Wishes,

Gordon

HornEd,

YOUR BAAACK!! What a fantastic piece of news...9.gif I really, really, really missed your posts here.

As you can see in my signature I am still a devoted disciple of timbre matching. Tonight I won't sit down in front on my modified center channel and have the mixed emotions of joy (for the way it sounds) and sadness (wondering if you were no longer with us). Now I can mix the emotions of joy and happiness!!

May God bless you always...

Wow!

Glad to see you are alive and kicking...and then some...teehee. I had a feeling that you were still around somewhere. Since, as I recall, Only the good die young. You have been sorely missed and prematurely lamented around here, so please stay in touch even though you may have better things to do.

clu

Where you been you silly S.O.B, Here we've been planting flowers on your grave for months. Next time I steal flowers from the funeral parlor's dumpster I go to jail...And Just how would that make you feel?

Best Wishes, and have you updated your forum e-mail adddresss?

Well Forum Friends... it's time for another HornEd update.

I am humbled by the comments of so many good folks... and by the large number of "hits" that have been accorded this thread. Oh, yeah, thanks BBB after sixty-five years of experience you have brought me up to date. Now I realize that what used to pass as recreation has now gone to "pot!" 2.gif

On the Klipsch front, I first really noticed my now fiancé when she attended a movie in my "Klipsch Legend" theater at the resort... and she took notice of me during my "Klipsch commercial" that routinely accompanies major showings that I attend. I have lost count of how many folks have bought Klipsch after being exposed to this timbre matched 6.1 theater. So, while I have been remiss in not keeping up my Forum presence, I have not faltered in promoting my favorite speakers.

For those romantics among you, I must confess that the first time Kassandra and I touched as more than friends, it was while watching the second half of the "Sound of Music" in the Klipsch Legend Theater. The combination of

Alps (she is a Swiss native and recently naturalized American citizen) and the 6.1 Klipsch experience pushed her over the edge of sanity... and into my arms for forever... (or what ever reasonable approximation of that that I can muster!).

Oh, yes, and to the most romantic of all (tee hee), let me confess that the first night we spent alone together, a certain New Jersey Afghan covered this old dog and... oops, somehow the metaphor has gotten dangerous!

Oh, yes, Gordon, I must second your choice of the K2 to fuel the stacked Ultras. The pro-sound system that I have installed for indoor and outdoor dances/concerts have pushed me further into the pro-amp ranks. I appreciated your detailed photos on how you brought up the bass for Sweet Nancy and you.

I am currently researching sound options for a 2,000 seat amphitheater that I will build on a remote corner of the property adjacent to the road. Any thoughts on how that system should go together will be most appreciated. That part of the property has a good sized scenic reservoir on one side and thousands of wilderness acres held by an open spaces conservancy. Actually, my property and the adjacent one that I am in the process of acquiring (hopefully) are the only two adjacent sites not owned by the conservancy or the major water utility for the Silicon Valley area. Thus, my mountain retreat is about as private as it gets in this part of California.

I will be spending a good deal of time and resources on this project this

Spring and will probably post some photos... especially of the Klipsch equipment that has been innovatively installed.

There are so many that have posted here to whom I should personally respond, and I shall try to as time permits. But, for now, I want to personally express my appreciation to Chris Robinson who started this thread... and made me feel guilty enough to rise from the "dread."

To be candid, I have just concluded five and half days of being in Ventricular Tachycardia more than anything else. It is not fun. It is dangerous. And, usually, I don't communicate with anyone when I am in that debilitated space. I can report that my battle with neuropathy brought on by Type II Diabetes has improved somewhat... and my esoteric research on that subject also continues. In the past year, I have improved well enough to be able to walk up and down these hills for an hour or so at a time. I also have a two-cycle gas golf car that is being modified as a mini all terrain vehicle. It comes in handy when riding the fire-break trails that are being expanded again this year.

Be well... and enjoy your Klipsch experience! -HornEd

PS: Cluless, you are in my mind more than you know... and, yes, I sure like that Avatar! 2.gif Now, if you could only use some of that vast skill set you possess to have the Avatar flash from the docile kitty avatar to the saber tooth tiger avatar... doing a "clu"/"less" thing... what a thrill it would be. I have covered the majority of the resort with a modified T1 line tied into an extensive Wi-Fi system. So, guests can be online while catching rays by one of the pools or watching a spirited volleyball match on our new Olympic quality sand volleyball court... that has a double-door deterrent from becoming a cat box with over 200 tons of smooth-grained sand. And, oh yeah, clu... if you can make it here, there are cases of your favorite beverage courtesy of your longtime but not-so-secret admirer.

Thanks! In your abscence, I figgered this out all by myself (pat on back) 2.gif

I'm a firm believer in over-amping subs. The Samson S1000 that SVS recommended for my pair of Ultras just did not make it for me. I had experience with overamping my single Ultra before going with duallies and actually felt I LOST something compared to my single until I upgraded to the Crown K2. Unfortulately, Sweet Nancy is not quite as enamored with my Subs.... ("Turn those things down! They make my ears rattle! ") 1.gif That Crown is a NICE amp.
