How much you dump into your stereo?

wired1

Recommended Posts

All,

Since I got my stereo last year and am still waiting for my LaScallas (Im getting them new within 5 days - more on this later or e-mail me), I dropped about $10k. This is what I will have:

Krell KAV-250P

Krell KAV-250A

Sony DVP-S7700 (CD only)

Monster HTS5000 Line Conditioner

Monster X200i-X XLR interconnects

Monster 1.2S Speaker Cable

LaScallas (2001 model!)

Bell O'getti stand

Is $10K typical and tell me what you think?!?!?!

The average person spends 3 to 6K on their system, that makes me average, I budget about $500 a year for upgrades -

I think that you are going to be very disapointed with the Krell/Klipsch combination in the long run, but in the short run, I think you will slam the hell out of your music, your neighbors and your ears ...

DLUngurait,

I was in a hurry and should have checked my math before I submitted my post. An honest mistake, but hey, if you need an excuse, go for it. An email would have showed more class. And even worse to use "recent events" as an excuse for anything cwm10.gif

While I know this is a Klipsch board and its about audio I cannot ignore the events that took place several hours ago.

First lets hope the terrorist bastards pay with thier lives for the horrific acts in NY and against the Pentagone. The NY World Trade Center disaster must be punished with no mercy. To call the monsters evil is a joke, they are the devil incarnated.

I am sickened and wish all the organisers of this atrocity a slow death.

I drew up an Exel file with all components listed. The bottom line looked more like a phone number than a price. The result I calculated was for replacement costs of all items, or if a produst was discontinued, the last retail selling price is the input amount. Please note: there is no listing of a television, VCR or TV/VCR stand. Those are in my home office (NEC CT-2750S 27" (on it's last legs after a lightning strike)and a Mitsubishi HS-U650 Hi-Fi VCR)

$14,202.94

And that's just since February, 01.

I have never been able to afford new hi end gear. I have always bought hi end gear used. Audio Research, Bryston, LaSala's, Heresy's, Dynaudio, AR- LST's, Audio by VanAlstine, Tascam and so on. I think I have around $3000.00 in my system but it is all used gear. I don't know what it would have cost if I bought it all new. I do think used is the only way to go. If the equipment is made by a quality company there really is no worry about problems with it.

Oh my god, who started this? I went over figures and had no idea what I actually had tied up in audio/video gear. I figured the Home Theater at $20,050 including interconnects and speaker wire. The Bedroom at $2,450 I'm glad my wife does not know these figures. I am not going to count the computer. Thanks for the reality check.
