dragonfyr
Any free software for these waterfall spectrum analysers? The 3D waterfall plots are Energy-Time-Frequency plots and require time domain measurement equipment, such as TEF, MLSSA, SMAART, or the most cost effective, ETF software for $150. formica
Any free software for these waterfall spectrum analysers? Freeware... the standard is Spectrum Lab (speclab) which you can download here http://www.qsl.net/dl4yhf/spectra1.html There are quite a few threads at the HTF (Home Theatre Forum) on using it, including a settings guideline (so that all the graphs are visually comparable) : -48kHz or 44.1kHz sample rate -waterwall scroll interval 120ms -range -70-0dB -fft input size 16384 -decimate input by 8 -freq. range 0Hz-120Hz Some track samples can be found at: http://bass.jawmail.org/ http://ibsubwoofers.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=plots Later... I don't need to measure anything (i.e. with a microphone). I'm simply interesting in the spectral content of certain CD tracks (that are therefore already "data"). audiobliss69
Mark Knopfler - The Ragpieker's Dream Why Aye Man A Place Where We Used To Live You Don't Know You're Born It's not crazy bass, but for it to be a beautiful song with lots of great guitar and vocals, it sure does have a ton of bass throughout most of it. Delbert McClinton - Never Been Rocked Enough Miss You Fever Why Me Pretty much same as Why Aye Man. Great song with some great music, and a lot of punchy bass (if you've got it turned up - like I do right now ) Paul Simon - Negotiations and Love Songs 1971 - 1986 Slip Slidin' Away The Cool, Cool River Not as much as the others, but there's an appreciable amount of punch on the bass notes. That's really all I can think of at the moment. Oh, and this is all 'musical' bass that should come through your speakers. I'm assuming you're not talking about the really low stuff that should come through the sub. If you, or anyone else, wants some of these songs, IM on AIM at speakerdreamer, and I'll send them to you. audiobliss
audiobliss69
Ok - I spent a good amount of time making everything in that last post be in different colors so it'd be more easily legible. How come the colors aren't showing up? Everything still shows up in color when I go to edit my post.

I will need album name as well Thanks Pick up a Mickey Hart - Planet Drums CD it has tons of bass throughout the disc....kinda wild too. That is one of the four recommended drum CDs from the artcle I mentionned here: I recently discovered a free downloadable audio magazine at http://www.tone.ws In the first issue, a drummer recommended what he thought were the best drum CDs to have. I'll like get it, because Circle of Drums was certainly an amazing suggestion. I have never heard such lifelike drums on a sound system than this CD on my KHorns. NMMechEst
Breakage - Together is a good one. It's from a Genre called Dubstep. You said you wanted continuous low Bass, right?
Boxx
I recommend Micky Hart's DAFOS. I have used it for several bass tests.

Myhamish
Very old tune - but a great tune - 'Closer to Home' by Grand Funk Railroad has a very musical rolling bass line throughout the whole tune that carries the melody also Dido (got to be careful how I spell or say that name - from "Safe Trip Home" - for deep down bass - two tracks - 'Grafton Street' and 'Under a Northern Sky. This album is also great for female voice and is one of my favourite test CDs - (another is Joan Osborne "Relish") Who in their right mind would name their child 'Dido'? And her poor brother's name is Rolo!
Chris A
Well I was kinda unclear, sorry. I was thinking stong bass in the lower 50hz. I am putting a Cd together to test diy sub's and so forth. I would like music and not test tones, anything with solid clean bass throughout. NO RAP! The purpose, again to test subs, but also to piss off the parents my shaking the whole house, and saying bye to the rodents wouldn't be too bad either, although I don't think we have any.Clearly, the Boston Rally Bass Collection is tuned for this duty...Chris
