Jeff Matthews
Name 3 of the All-Time Greatest Rock CD's based upon the entire CD being killer. My 3: 1. Santana "Moonflower" 2. Genesis "Seconds Out" 3. Led Zeppelin "Physical Graffiti" .... all 3 are double CD's, too.
rplace
Aerosmith - RocksThe Clash - The Clash Boston - BostonI guess Aerosmith dropped the ball not naming Rocks "Aerosmith". Then I would have scored the Band/Album name trifecta.

JBryan
JEEEZ! Just 3?! Difficult to condense "ROCK" into 3 categories much less pick the 3 top albums... Hell, it'd be almost as difficult if you had asked for the Top 3 Beatles LPs. (Revolver, White Album, Sgt. Peppers). 1. Discipline - King Crimson 2. In a Glass House - Gentle Giant 3. tie - Joe's Garage - Frank Zappa 3. tie - Quadrophenia - The Who 3. tie - Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd 3. tie - Axis: Bold As Love - Jimi Hendrix Experience 3. tie - Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads 3. tie - London Calling - The Clash 3. tie - The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie 3. tie - Aqualung - Jethro Tull 3. tie - Fillmore East - Allman Brothers Band 3. tie - Another Green World - Brian Eno 3. tie - My Aim is True - Elvis Costello 3. tie - English Settlement - XTC 3. tie - Layla & Other Love Songs - Derrick & the Dominoes 3. tie - NIght of the Living Dregs - Dixie Dregs 3. tie - Crafty Hands - Happy the Man 3. tie - Fragile - Yes 3. tie - The Bridge Between - Robert Fripp 3. tie - Starless & Bible Black - King Crimson ... I could go on - I can think of dozens more that simply must be on my list but I'm starting to repeat artists so this is a good place to stop. I know I cheated - what are you gonna do 'bout it?! Have fun, Bryan
DrWho
So I see a few references to Boston....never heard of them before! Yes I know, unbelievable....so Colter, is this something that I would enjoy? My top 3, hmmmmm... Nightwish - Once (does this count as rock and roll?)Roxy Music Live DVD reuinion tour thing (bah, I should find out this title so that I can go buy it)Beatles - just about anything (I really liked their music with the asian/indian influence) Ok, so I like european music....I'd put Three Dog Nite's "Best Of" put out by MCA up there as well. And then Yes, The Who, George Thoroughgood, the Troggs, Aerosmith, Zepellin, Rammstein.............................

jorjen
Wow, alot of great stuff already mentioned. But, I would put for example "Montrose" before some of the ones previously listed. Hell, I would put Black Oak Arkansas before some of the ones previously listed[].
Jeff Matthews
... and any Zeppelin- except In through the out door Hold on! Them's fightin' words. That's one of Zep's better ones. They really showed their versatility on that album. They were maturing extremely well. You just don't like "All of My Love," "I'm Gonna Crawl" and "Hot Dog." Right? colterphoto1
Led Zeppelin Physical Graffitti. Perfect, absolutely perfect. (I've got the Gold Record award in my office) Beatles- Sgt. Peppers. Landmark recording technology, lads at the top of their game Pink Floyd- DSOTM I know, it said three PERFECT ones, here are two honorable mentions.... Yes- Fragile Deep Purple- Machine Head Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed (okay theres a couple of dogs on it, but mostly classics) It's no surprise that for me, it's all british rock Michael
Jeff Matthews
I agree, Michael. The Brits did write better music in the classic rock genre. Chicago's 1st was real good. I had no idea what was on it when I ordered it from BMG. I was pleasantly surprised. It has skid marks from so much play time. I think BOC's Agents of Fortune was pretty good, too. Probably their best. Deep Purple "Machine Head" is excellent. Yes's "Album" is great....
colterphoto1
I agree with the DP choice Jeff, added it to my HM list. However, there are some less popular songs there (Maybe I'm a Leo and Never Before) , and the poll asked for PERFECT albums, where every tune was a winner. The Yes Album has a Jon Anderson piece 'A Venture' and Howe's 'The Clap', which are not really pieces for the band, whereas every single tune on Fragile rocks along with full ensemble. jmho though Michael
Jeff Matthews
Picky, picky. Just kidding. But I love Maybe I'm a Leo and Never Before. I especially like the part of Maybe I'm a Leo where John Lord goes into that "drunken-sounding" keyboard solo. I always liked the lyrics of "A Venture." For whatever reason, it makes me feel nostalgic for my childhood. And the Clap - what a fantastic piece of acoustical guitar material! JMHO. How about.... Are You Experienced and Who's Next? Oh, and also, 2112 and Permanent Waves? Michael, help me out back on my Deco Corns post.
