3dzapper
"For the first time ever, the rear of the speaker has received a cosmetic facelift. Solid panels now enclose the rear high frequency and low frequency cabinets to add a more elegant appearance, eliminate any corner and response issues and allow for toe in or out. Bill H.
Slated to launch in February, the 60th Anniversary Klipschorn will only be sold in pairs and carry a tentative U.S. MSRP of $11,000 per pair. These limited-edition speakers can be ordered through a Klipsch specialty A/V retailer. They are making only 225 pairs.........

meagain
Wow. That sounds so nice. What I'm interested in is the part about closing up the back to allow toe-in? They don't need to be snug in corners?
3dzapper
That is what they are saying Meaghan. DeanG did something like that when he bought his new Khorns It will be interesting to see how they accomplished it. And, the new crossover with a window so you can see it. Neat. Radiohead
I think I'll pay the dealer a visit tomorrow.
meagain
From the description, it almost seems like the price point would be a higher. And I have to read it again - but they enclosed the rear/sides of the top bin not Only due to aesthetics? What's up with that?
Hardhead
If you toe the Klipschorns in or out without false corners, you'll lose whatever bass response that's generated by the wall extending beynd the speaker edges. If that isn't important, why have Klipschorns? I wonder how thick and sturdy the new backs of the bass cabinet are. So much letigimate discussion on this forum about the absorption of bass energy by resonant materials and so much crowing from Klipsch about increasing the thickness of the La Scala sides from 3/4" to 1", but I'll bet the backs on the bass cabinet of the Khorn aren't 1" thick MDF or sufficiently fastened to the sides so the backs don't resonate. I hope I'm wrong, but I bet I'm not.
D-MAN
Indeed. Better to UNBOLT the top cabinet so you can turn it instead, huh? However, the idea of a numbered limited edition "whatever" is a great marketing ploy. That's exactly the ticket. DM
JBryan
I'd like to see a few pictures as well.. but however they turn out, they sure won't be your fathers Khorns! I wonder how Paul would look upon this "extreme" version of his tried and true design.

jpm
I think they should leave well enough alone. Quit messing around with the originals.
Daddy Dee
Can't wait to see it. Amazing. Is there another speaker anywhere that's been in production for 60 years?
seti
I wish they had a pic! I read about it on another site but I assumed itjust received the same freshener as the Cornwall and La Scala. Perhaps the next anouncement will be of the home Jubilee entering production : )
garymd
Diamond inlays, eh? Pretty neat. I wonder if the parts department will carry spares in case of loss, damage or theft?[] I agree. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the false corners. Maybe they'll give us a few ideas.
3dzapper
Imagine walking in the house and saying,"Honey, I went to the mall today and saw the most beautiful pair of diamonds. I coundn't resist, they were only $11,000." I guess it could be worse. " Honey I went to the Mall today and saw this cute pair of puppies in the window......" Who would get them in the settlement?
