  3. Sounds terrible with the s on the end of Hazelenut LOL, The boss wants to give me more work. I go nuts if I have to drive another mile, and 3 cups. Doing a dry run this Saturday. Wish me luck!? Coffee Mate is alright but, looking for the other brands. Thinking about ordering miniatures online. Guess I can do that. Know it is not much but 1200 miles each weekend has me homesick. Nothing to do but smoke and drink something. That Java Monster works. Nursing one is recom mended for those that imbibe. Says right on the label, 2 servings.

  5. You know of course that the Klipschorn top-hat can be separated from the bass bin. This way you can grab each section under a different arm for easy moving! Yes indeed, I saw those little Wingnut things as the second one was ready to come out of the truck, what did I do then? reached inside and made sure they were tite!

  8. Palladiums are in their own category the same as the reference line would be. Palladium quality cannot be disputed. If somebody spending the money on a palladium puts a scratch on them all i can say is shame on them. Palladium scale in any event with grading are A+

  9. Funny how minor illness always seems to follow the arrival of new K'horns. A product manufacturing defect no doubt. Probably associated with off gassing.

  10. It takes a lot of time to adjust to a klipschorn setup. I would suggest a bit more time. The plug and play use of the chorus is so simple nonetheless i respect your situation either way you would go...

  11. Ah yes, the Khorn subject, well they are set up, and sound ? well she wish's me to bring back her Chorus set up, and I agree. It seems the placement in the room (anywhere) is just too dam small, iv always told her we need a bigger living room.

  17. Nothing as severe as that fortunately. I have enough looking into the rearview now. Delivery of medical specimens for a major lab. It is somewhat vital. And I am just miffed at the out of the way call-in that will deviate my route almost routinely. I will probably get over it, or retire one of these days, lol. Sorry for the rambling! Thanks

  18. Thank guys! Mine came from woot as well. Something is definitely not right. I know Klipsch wouldn't put out something like that, maybe I just got a bad one . Please let me know what you all think when you get yours. Thanks for the quick reply Amy.

  19. If Woot is the seller, they should be fine (not counterfeit). If yours sound terrible, I'd recommend exchanging through them!

  21. Well if you decide to sell them it sounds like it will be pickup only ! It shouldn't be physically painful to buy speakers, sorry to hear about your back. It has to be placement or something wrong with the speakers because you have some what should be some really good sounding equipment upstream?

  22. Sancho, their still in the back of the suburban, when we pull em out Saturday at Carl"s we will post pics. They are actually in pretty good shape, just that one front corner got pulled out a bit but should be an easy fix. I have already talked to a friend who has been painting for 40 years and he cant wait to get his hands on em, says he can make em look new, being black actually helps our case here according to him. My intent is for these to be my front porch speakers up at my ranch as I have a pristine set at home in the living room, anybody using LaScala's as porch speakers ?? kinda funny when you think about it....Roost

  23. I agree with Michael I used it didn't believe in acoustic panels until I began adding some to my room and realized how much sound bouncing around the room. You can clean up the reflections the sound is much cleaner and a lot more precise

  29. please read the "dope from hope" article above.... the fuses pictured are the WRONG fuse for speaker or amplifier protection! no offense to you khornukopia. i have mentioned this before on here, speakers require "fast blow" fuses if they are to be of any protection to speakers or other delicate electronic equiptment. the slow blow type will almost definantly not blow fast enough to stop damage to the device down stream. if anyone is using slow blow you should replace them ASAP. the same place that has slow blow at these ratings should also carry the fast blow.

  30. I applaud the effort, and will enjoy the effect in selected theaters, and perhaps eventually in our HT. Dolby is using some old (and good) ideas, plus, no doubt, some new ones . Below are some of the old ideas, discussed in my post below the quote. Overhead speakers were used (in some theaters) in several 70mm films from 1955 through at least 1977. Sometimes (I'm told) using them depended on the cooperation of the projectionist. The overheads at the Coronet in San Francisco were bigger than many, and looked like JBL C40 enclosures just barely sticking out of the ceiling (& I know Ampex commisioned JBL to provide the speakers for Todd-AO, the first modern 70 mm process). As I recall there were about 8 big overhead boxes. The early Todd-AO tracks had only one true surround channel, but it could be sent to various locations, at least with Around the World in 80 Days (1956), which allowed the Queen's band to move up the side of the theater as it left the screen. In those days 70 mm houses had 5 speakers behind the screen -- Dolby later reduced that to 3, plus 1 sub, and used 2 true surrounds. During a demo of 8 channel D150, someone got their wires crossed (literally) and sent the sound of a tank in Patton to the overhead speakers in the theater. When Star Wars ran in 70 mm at the Coronet in 1977, the Big Ship "flew" overhead, thanks to some of the sound being temporarily channeled to the big ceiling speakers. No such luck for the revival (a pale 35 mm version). The sound (music) moved around the theater, and followed some action, in the 1940/41 version of Walt Disney's Fantasia. This is covered in many articles, including the one by A.P. Peck in the January 1941 Scientific American. In New York, Fantasia used 90 speakers, 36 of which were behind the screen, with the rest around the theater. The soundtrack had only 4 channels -- one control, and three music channels -- but the control track moved the sound around the theater, always preserving some sourcing from behind the screen, so people wouldn't get too disoriented. I knew two people, a few generations before me, who experienced Fantasound, as it was called. They both used the same word to describe it: "Hypnotic." One of these gentlemen was an audio engineer who interviewed the sound guys when they were setting up in San Francisco. He said they said that the reason for having so many speakers behind the screen itself (36, if S.F. was set up like N.Y.C) was partly to allow the sound to move around, but also to build up the potential SPL to a high of 75 dB over 30 dB possible room noise, bringing the theoretical top to 105 dB. In the scene in which Artimis (or whatever goddess it was) uses the crescent moon as a bow, and fires an arrow of stars across the sky, when the arrow leaves the screen some of the music follows it off-screen, and up beyond the procenium arch. As to dialog following characters, it followed them quite accurately in the early Todd-AO films. In the famous whist table scene in 80 Days, the (5) behind the screen channels placed the dialog of the several players and onlookers in their mouths, at least horizontally. So, congratulations to Dolby for reviving and expanding on these ideas!

  31. Hah, yea. She's 3ft tall and 25lbs - super lanky and it's impossible find clothes that fit both dimensions. BTW, she loves reading more than ever before and those books you gifted continue to be a staple in our pre-bedtime regiment.

  33. Hi, I came across your question. I used to own the LSA Signature not the Statement. I really believe it was a quality piece. But I ended up selling it because when it comes to high end gear a good match with your speakers and other gear is mandatory to hear the potential of any one piece in the audio chain. So unless you pair up an integrated or any amp with speakers that match it well then you won't hear what that amp could do. So it can be a slippery slope. If you don't have the ability to audition the LSA in your system with your speakers first, I might think twice. Until you hook it to your speakers you won't know. It may be a beautiful piece. I've had plenty of beautiful pieces, but unless you pair that beautiful piece to other complementary pieces (ie the right speakers, sources etc./favorable impedance matching etc.) it will not give back its full capability. The other factor is re-sale. When you buy something like LSA, although it is quality, it is not as well known or has the reputation that will help you make a good sale if you decide to resell, even though you bought it at a discount. Now if was Conrad Johnson, Krell, Audio Research, etc. (widely known /great reputations in the audiophile community) resale at a good price is much more favorable. But on a different note, the tubes in an integrated like this one are not a big deal to work with even for a novice. A tube amp for the uninitiated is a different story and can be more complex and intimidating. I have avoided owning a tube amp for all these years but tube integrateds are not nearly as daunting.

  35. The chowder cook off was fun with ten restaurants trying to out do the others. There was one red chowder that reminded me of oyster shooters. Skimpily clad young ladies served the chowder on trays as you walked by each tent. My favorite chowder had kernels of corn and they managed to keep the chowder hot. Beautiful weather ( I got a little sunburned) and fun to people watch. Not a bad day! Okay minermark....how about your new speakers? Cheers Gents

  39. regular monsters used to upset my stomach unless i drank them all the time. On the other hand them monster java coffees seem to do very well to me. I agree road trips are a key time for monster coffee...Honestly i have found the starbucks in bottles to taste almost the same. There is a half gallon coffee brand name my wife gets from the meat market down the street from our house. It tastes so much the same as well and costs $2 for a half gallon, im not kidding. Sometimes they mark things down when close to being outdated but these half gallons had 2 weeks left to go on them. I'll get the name of them and post it here. Thats just an amazing deal. Im at my quota for positive likes for the moment but i gotta get back and give dtel some for sure. Blessings!
