  9. I wanted to announce here that Alex and Genevieve are donating half the remaining funds for the flowers to help fund the Klipsch Employee Appreciation Day event Boxx had planned to attend in April. There will be a statement dedicating the event to his memory on a memorial poster that will be on a easel at the lunch site on Friday and then moved to the event site. Genevieve has expressed interest in attending and hopefully Alex will do so as well. The other half will go to an educational cause of the families choosing, as Alex says Boxx was very enthusiastic about those efforts. The flowers were about 300.00. The total to date donated is in excess of 700.00. That's the kind of group this is! I am officially ending that drive, but that isn't to say that if you want to donate over the next few days feel free. I'll be sending them a check early next week. Kind regards to all, Dave

  10. True Story I was 19 or 20 years old and in the service at Ft. Riley Kansas, I was on snow removal detail, got off at 2am, on way home (approx 3 milles from work or home) car overheated.....................Started to hoof it home 1st and only time I actually stuck my thumb out to try and hitch a ride, of course no one stopped. It was so cold when I blinked my eyes would freeze shut (moisture on the eyelashes from breathing I guess) literally had to reach up and force them open

  15. Happy Wednesday guys. Looks like I missed some good stuff late yesterday. Just realized how hooked I've gotten with this forum over the past year, Over 500 posts now. It has been great. Thanks for the friendship. Not much to report. Temps are trending up in Denver metro at least for the next few days, but we're never really done with winter until maybe April. Check back later.

  16. I get 5 paid and 1 unpaid holiday per year. On the plus side, I get 15 vacation days so it evens out. I gripe a lot about working but it's a necessary evil and I could have it MUCH worse.

  22. Sorry to interrupt but thought this was funny. Keith Richards meeting justin beiber https://celebrity.yahoo.com/news/justin-bieber-tries-bro-down-keith-richards-rolling-195000579-us-weekly.html Way to romance the Stone, bro. Justin Bieber made a very famous new friend in Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards recently, but as insiders reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly, their rock star encounter got off to a rather inauspicious start. Over New Year's, Bieber, 20, hit up a tiny beach bar on the luxe Parrot Cay island in Turks and Caicos, where "there was an old guy throwing back drinks who said, 'Who the f--k are you?'" one source recalls. In response, the "All Around the World" pop star shot back, "I don't know, who the f--k are you?" Apparently satisfied with that answer, the older gent smiled and said, "'You're a man. I respect that,' then walked away," the source tells Us. It wasn't until a few minutes later, when "another old guy and came over and told Justin, 'Keith Richards wants to have a drink with you,'" that the 71-year-old rock legend's identity was revealed. Bieber, rightly awestruck, exclaimed, "Oh, s--t! That was Keith Richards?" and then joined the Brit at a table. "Justin tried to bro down with him," a witness says, adding that a seemingly unimpressed Richards told the star, "Let's get one thing straight. You're a wannabe."

  26. Nice to have a circle of friends chuck , (i used to help a friend with his bbq pit, cooking, odd repairs, store runs etc...) Carl, when I worked I had some decent bennies 10.5 paid holidays a year problem was the company manipulated those to benefit themselves, If a holiday fell on a wed. they would celebrate it on Fri. or Mon. so management could make a 3 or 4 day weekend out of it, Then they would schedule the jobs so 1 person per craft could get a holiday job and set the job up so it was Fri. Sat. Holidays off, so now the Wed Holiday was switched to Friday your regular day off. you got paid for that Friday but no time off with the family for the holiday (money is great and all but as I get older the time with loved ones and friends meant more to me) so the manipulation always pissed me off

  30. When our 11-year old Great Dane passed at home it was hard enough. He went around 12 to 1 a.m. We couldn't do anything but leave him where he was till morning and take him to his vet that buried him on a farm in the country. By the morning rigor had started to set in as we were trying to get all 160lbs of him in an 86' Saab 900S hatchback. A few years later we got a rescue cat that was quite the character and very dog-like. Not one of these couch potato, hiding all day cats I see too often. Even taught him how to sit, speak (meow), wave, lay down, come, and, yes, roll-over...all on command. He would even get me to play chase with him by running up behind me and tagging the backs of my legs and run ahead to playfully taunt me. Even got him to do back-flips. We always said If he had opposable thumbs he'd be dangerous. 8-years later he passed away in my arms from renal failure. Nothing we could have done about it as it was all too common. His ashes are on my desk at home. It was then I had to try and explain death to my 4-year old grandson. "But where IS he Grandbapa?"

  38. does the unit come on and not cook or lose power I wonder? Fixed a microwave by replacing fuse once. Of course a different unit than the convection also on yours. The fuse was inexpensive from RS and involved removing cover to get at. No you could hear it come on and hum then a relay would kick out, my guess is the fan motor was locked up, the unit was in a 1991 diesel pusher motorhome and was the original at least as far as I could tell so its hard to expect it to continue working......................I usually get a kick out of dismantling these type things and repairing them but a 20+ year old microwave oven did not seem worth the effort

  41. I've lived in a Farm House for most of my life. When the crops come off, the mice come running for the house! They sell electronic Hypersonic noise makers that plug in the wall sockets. Haven't seen a mouse or found any evidence of a mouse in over 15 years! A lot cheaper and a lot less nasty than having a cat in the house. Next excuse for having a cat in the house, because being a mouser don't cut it! Roger Next excuse for not liking cats; that one don't cut it? Scared of a little pu55y. Little pu55y's don't scare me. It's the larger ones that have me worried. Or the really HAIRY ones!!!

  46. Hi guys. Been absent from the forum for a bit over a week. Still digesting the sad news about Boxx I saw late last night. Very sad and he was only 59 and in his very early retirement years. I hate seeing this happen after years of hard work and success. R.I.P. Boxx Just got caught up here and looks like all is well and glad Aubrey is doing better. Getting tired of battling the frigid weather here and going through a lot of wood, but what would you expect with heating the house with a wood burning stove. Takes a lot of wood to maintain 60+ degrees when it dips down to -9 at night (-35 wind chills). A different climate will be in the cards someday when I retire. Need to feed the stove...stay warm!
