  1. Carl.....not true in my case Waiting for a warm up to start washing the house. Recent wet spell has created a lot of green lines Coffee done, breakfast done, Jake walked. Speaking of breakfast I tried something new for breakfast yesterday and today on Yahoo's home page someone made my exact idea. My sister and I use to ask my mother to make what she called "western nest eggs". She would cut a round hole in the middle of white bread, brown it up in butter, then break an egg into the hole and fry it. Flip once, Yesterday, not having white bread, I did the same thing with a bagel, slightly enlarging the center hole. Open up to Yahoo and there it is! Cheers Ladies and Gents

  2. Evening gang Taking a break from bench electronics, brain fry. Haagen-Daz to the rescue Take it easy Joe, news events can get the better of everyone. Bad as the Media drama queens make it out to be, we are still in the best country on the planet. 40 years ago, for three years, i traveled the world, i feel fully qualified to say, i would live in NONE of them. We have our crime/problems, spend some time in other countys, they will scare the hell out of you. I watch the news long enough to get the weather, thats it. Now on a more serious note: I seem to have missplaced my bag Fresh Snickerdoodles

  3. Religion gets threads locked but I think I can navigate the question fairly diplomatically. I searched for a church home in the religion that my parents raised me. Coincidentally my wife was actually raised in the same faith. There were only a few churches of that denomination in our area. We visited them and settled on the one that we liked the best. It was a combination of enjoying the sermons and the person delivering them. I've always known that churches need donations from the congregants to keep the doors open. It's just a fact. I've always felt blessed and have no issues giving back to where I thought everything came from in the first place.

  5. Steve, I had a similar experience about 5 or 6 yrs ago and wound up in the ER. Been on a medication called Metoprolo or Metoprol ever since and it seems to do the trick. Sometimes the solution is fairly simple and painless. Hope it is for you, too. Chuck

  8. Very true JL, and they far outnumber the crazies. One other thing is the news sensationalizes/reports on every story from every crack of the earth, nowhere escapes a good story, and it's up to the minute. Your good Joe, it's hard to not feel that way, I would think that's normal.............. Just think of how many nice things people did for others today, there is not enough time to report it all.

  9. My family and my religion. It also helps that I have not been personally affected by any of this. It's selfish to feel that way but I'm sure I'd be more up in arms If I (or my family) was directly in harms way. I'm sure that the stress in your life is compounding things for you. I hope things look up.

  10. small bite. from the beginning product by product. as i have told some close friends of mine, i had never heard of klipsch much less heard from klipsch. i just a fresh engineer guy out of college, called by klipsch to interview. i got to spend about 45 minutes with paul and in those 45 minutes, i came out of his office thoroughly convinced that the only way to design speakers was to use horns. one of the first projects i worked with paul on was the midbass horn and woofer horn of the kp-600. i know that some people ***** about the way i answer a question with a question (deano?) but that is how paul taught me. it was quite cool and frustrating working with him. but i am sure glad he pushed. paul fingerprints are all over the 600. the network that crosses over from the mids to highs was basically pauls idea. at the time i came to work for klipsch, paul was constantly playing with networks. he was really intrigued by steep slope networks. m derived. the manifold to put two 2" diap drivers together was totally designed by him. i asked him if he would design and of course, he was holding class and i never realized it. that manifold worked perfectly and provided addition up to the freq i asked. it was in these details....this projects within projects......macro details today..........and nuances tomorrow....these nuances that paul would later remind ,me that i just needed, to concentrate on the 20%......

  15. November of last year we had record-breaking snowfall of 31 inches. This November we had a record-breaking high temp of 76° (& still have green grass). My coffee tastes better with snow on the ground. Hey Joe, if nothing else.... that shows that today is another day & tomorrow is behind you. It's always important to have a good wingman (with a fresh perspective & a good sense of humor)... seems like you have plenty of wingmen here.

  20. Wow, that space is neat, as in organized and clean, as well as neat. as in cool.Regarding hot air soldering, the surface mount components on my new TPA3118 Wiener amp (see http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/group-buys/276508-wiener-group-buy-2-stereo-pbtl-editions-available.html) were soldered in a toaster oven in Nova Scotia. Now if I can steal enough time to hook it up and test it prior to building an enclosure. Diyaudio is great, i just ordered two edcor pc mount transformers 600ohm/15k ohm for a project that has been evolving over there. Once thepc board group buy comes up, i will be on it.Next is to build a power supply producing 24/-24 rails. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  21. That's true, I asked if they want the bark peeled off and they said they liked it like that. It's very strong, it has a bunch of 6" lag bolts into the side of the stairs. One day i will get around to putting threads and risers to finish off the stairs, now that i found a local sawmill guy.

  22. Be safe Carl, and most of all have fun. Were back, good or bad depending on who you ask? It was another fun week and with a little work getting done. Put some wood on a couple walls and a beam. When we go back i will add some color to them, not sure yet brought home some pieces to test out different things.

  30. Joe, remember that MOST people are good and do what they are supposed to do. All those good people don't make the nightly news. Our society seems to really scream and blare out about the few crazies around us. Think about how many people live in the good ole USA (it's millions) doing good and treating each other with respect. The problems you cited involve just a few people in the US. I think its about perspective. Easy to get caught up in the bad when mostly things are really good.

  33. Good Morning/Afternoon from the frigid white north! -15 at the house this morning. I know we live in a strange place when we're all looking forward to the temps to "warm up" to the low 20's and the corresponding snow that's supposed to come with it tonight! But as nismo said, the coffee tastes better with snow on the ground!

  34. morning gang 38 and feels like 30. Coffee should be done.......ah...yes Depot run for a few lil fittings then farm breakfast, (BM, eggs, toast, BM) DMV appt later today, paperwork on the f-150 i donated to the farmer(s). Made the APPT three weeks ago, that was the soonest they could see me. Of course if you speak spanish, you just walk in anytime, they do not seem to mind the two hour wait. Holidays coming up, a wise person would be aware of the exact location of "The Toaster", Keep in mind that thing takes out power grids, could be Un-comfortable if one of you're guest just happen to use it Thousands of Thanksgiving get-togethers could be ruined if that device is used

  36. Ok doc you are about to piss me off. In one breath you say you never met the man and then proceed to tell me that he flashed his bs button to soon. Pwk was my life and acoustic mentor. So be careful, bonehead. You are right. You don't know him. He was in his late 70's when I came to work for klipsch and he told me that he was STILL learning about horns. Of course if he heard it or if anyone heard it he would investigate. But when he flashed bs then it was bs. You are beginning to sound like some of the so called "experts" on this forum. And if paul in his late 70's was still learning where does that put you and me? As for me, an infantile novice.

  38. A visit with Joey B., As some of you might know, a couple of weekends ago, I delivered my pair of KP-450s to a buyer in Main with my daughter along for the trip to help drive. While I could have freight shipped these speakers for $350, the buyer said he would pay me $1,000 extra to deliver them, so off in the wife's mini van we went. After delivering the speakers to Maine, I wanted to Drop in and visit with Joey B. in Mass., so I gave him a call. Joey has been very helpful to me in the past with providing me with info, and selling me some stuff for my KP-600 stacks and I have him on speed dial and have called him multiple times since acquiring my first set of KP-600 stacks. For those of you who may not know, Joeys claim to fame as far as all things Klipsch is that he was doing Pro Sound with MCM-1900s even prior to Roy coming to Klipsch, so he has been at this for a LOOONG time. As far as I am aware, there were originally only 4 major KP-600 setups ever bought; 1) The 32 box system that was flown in the New Orleans Convention Center, original install price of $160,000 that Kevin Harmon, Roy Delgado, and myself bought the remaining 30 boxes as two had been pilfered at some point., 2) the 10 stack, or 30 Box setup of Dave Phipps out of Texas, which is where Kevin Harmon, Bill Hendrix, and myself bought our first sets of KP-600s, Bob McTiery from Florida of Ram Sound fame who had and ran 8 stacks or 24 Boxes and has since sold his stacks, and Joey B. from Mass. who switched from the MCM-1900s to the KP-600s after they came out. Joey has and still uses 8 stacks or 24 boxes and has done sound for venues of 15,000 people with these same 8 stacks. So I contacted Joey with out really any advance notice, and he was kind enough to make time out of his busy schedule to host myself and my daughter at his home. I will add that like most self made successful men that Joey has his arms in several ventures and it was very kind of him to make time on such short notice. I will start with the fact that he and his wife have a very nice home that they have put a lot of thought into their own personal touches. I will not address his home ant further as while he gave my daughter and myself an extensive tour, I don't feel comfortable discussing the layout to an open forum other than to say it is very nice and well thought out, and that my daughter was very impressed with your upstairs lighting fixtures and molding choice Joey I found out on my visit that Joey is also a drummer and I will send you pictures Kevin Harmon after Joey sends them to me. Joey also has a love of American Muscle cars and has a rare 1970 1/2 Falcon with 429 Cobra Jet that was only offered 1/2 year before being rebadged as the Torino, and I would add that the engine is not just a stock 429 Cobra jet and is VERY stout and healthy. I was also fortunate enough to be treated to some photos of some gigs that Joey has done with the KP-600s with pictures of different configurations he has rigged. All in all, I would have enjoyed staying longer and getting to meet Joeys family, but my daughter Kimberly had already missed a day of school as it was a Monday, and had to get home to have a homework assignment in by midnight on the computer! Had a lot of fun visiting with Joey, and he reminds me a lot of a close friend that I recently lost to lung cancer in the past two years. Joey also went out of his way to make my daughter welcomed in his home. Joey, I look forward to talking to you again soon, and if welcomed I would at some point be willing to make the long trip to spend time with you again at some point in the future Roger

  42. Hi Joe and the gang ... like Carl, i keep sane (yeah, i know that’s up for argument) by prayer and i don’t expect anything better from this world. I’m saddened by what goes on; but, not at all surprised. Had to cut my week-long business trip short and am back home today. Up in the mountains at a conference. 2 hours from the beach; but, there was snow on the ground and it was 29 degrees last night. After lunch today, had to use my Asthma inhaler, which speeds up my heart. This time it also triggered a MAJOR episode of pre-ventricular contractions--a new condition that i’ve been blessed with. Took one of the heart pills that the doctor gave me; but, it didn’t stop them. After about 90 minutes, my chest was starting to hurt a little (from the POUNDING heart or building anxiety or both?) and i was starting to get concerned, so i decided to drive home and check in with the cardiologist in the morning. When they first diagnosed this (last June) i had some heart tests done including a nuclear stress test on the treadmill--all checked out okay and no blockage. But, still too new of a condition for me to be able to self-diagnose when it’s too serious to ignore and when it’s just a nuisance.

For home defense, I am quite fond of my semi auto 1187 Remington 12 gauge with smooth bore short slug barrel, rifle sights, extended large capacity mag tube and trigger job for quick target acquisition in tight quarters. First two out of the pipe are Dragons breath just for shlts and giggles. It is only polite to warm up your home invader before killing them Roger
