I came from humble beginnings raised in a sharecropper's abandoned shanty and worked the fields from sun up to sundown supporting my 9 brothers and sisters on my 20 cents a day pay3 points

I love that place. Large selection. Great prices. It isn't a tourist trap. It's a little bit of a drive but it's worth it. But the best part is the people behind the counter. The shop is basically is in the heart of Hipster-ville but they don't treat me like the pudgy, balding, suburbanite dad that I am. Possibly more important is that they don't judge me on my purchases or musical taste like some of the condescending people at other shops.3 points

I am with you there FR! I will have to share some photos of my 'local' used LP shop... They are a 45 minute highway drive from here, but once there, I go though everything, and have had some great buys... That first Miles Davis play was from that store...3 points

Hi everybody, I have not been around here for quite some time - for many reasons. One of them is that although my serious listenig experiences began when I discovered Klipsch heritage speakers (my first encounter was a stock LaScala - which led to my purchase of a set of vintage Khorns) I admit that there are other interesting speakers around as well. So I started listening to Quads (the 57 and 63 models), a pair of Tannoy Arden and some vintage Cabasse speakers from France (to name just some of them). It has been an interesting journey and for a while it seemed as though I would never return to those horns. Together with all those speaker swapping I also tried quite a few different amps (mostly tubes) and - having read so much on this forum at the time - I began experimenting with different crossovers, drivers and horns - the result of which is shown in my signature. Now the last time I posted here (again some time ago) I had installed the Khorn in the basement of my current home - and that is where they still are. To my surprise this rather smallish room is definitely the best for the horns I ever had - or perhaps I have simply become a more experienced listener over the years? Hard to tell, but I am sure that the exposure to all those other speakers have made me a more sensitive listener. For example I know notice how difficult it is to find a speaker that does not emphasize certain frequencies too much - for that I have to thank my exposure to those Quads and vintage Cabasse speakers - and certain amps that I had the chance to listen to for a longer time - and that in return has helped me to listen a lot more carefully to the setting of the networks (or rather the autoformers!) I am using. Now I think for example that for a long time I didn't really notice that the squawkers in my settings were simply too loud. So am I the only one around here who has collected experiences with other speakers and gear which in return has helped them to re-evaluate or improve their Klipsch setup? Thanks for reading this by the way. Cheers, Wolfram2 points

Let me begin by saying I am a lawyer. I did none of that because it would have accomplished nothing, except possibly prevent the tree from disappearing. The tree is now gone, everyone's happy, life goes on.2 points

Just turned 60. Guess I'm the old guy in this thread... Had a girl tell me 60's the new 40. I said yeah, right, you're not living in this 60 year old body...2 points

Thank you again Mike, aka @MookieStl, The nameplate arrived today safe and sound. I'll glue it on to the La Scala and take a photo, You are a gentleman and a custodian of the Klipsch reputation among young musicians.2 points

Well, This thread died but st the end I bought new crossovers from Crites, but I was never really happy with my pair of LaScala. I sold them a few months ago and got a fairly good price so I was happy. But my search continued and I was looking for horn speakers and it had to ble Klipsch, so suddenly I talked to a gut who had a big warehouse and he told me that he had several klipsch systems after a cinema thats been closed. So I got a pair of 535 from him. They sre in s really nice condition and sounds awesome!!! I wanted it simple so I ordered a three way passive crossover from klipsch instead of using a active crossover. And I really really love them!!!2 points

Had this band on tape. Not going to play lp. Several hits they had back then: Getting uptight withoutpout my TT in hand. My X and I would listen in the Airstream at the KOA in Alligator Point. Memories of music can be fun, besides. Enjoying the JJCale Tarheel and Gary the Davis. Fabulous. The Moody Blues, fav and Floyd. Gabriels trumpet, thanks! Just the idea sends the artist through me. Enjoy the weekend, FR, Mike and all...some more. Thanks for indulging with me. Anyway:2 points

Oh yeah - I can see 'Heel arriving in the "Bubble" hard hat in the passenger seat, chainsaw in the trunk and him in his wood cutter overalls, chaps and mid-calf tree climbing boots. No wonder he's such the Lady's Man. The contemporary Paul Bunyon he is.2 points

I never think about paying someone to do something like this. Having several acres and heat with wood, I fell and process whole trees by myself regularly. Anything less than 15" in diameter will fit in the stove and the rest makes for a bonfire. The main thing that I have to worry about are the widowmakers that can break loose from the shock waves as it starts to drop. Admittedly, while some people are relaxing, watching TV or surfing the net, I'm not.2 points

Heck; I owned a chainsaw when I rented an APARTMENT! Now I own a condo, and I'm probably the only owner in the 200 unit complex with a Stihl. I use it for trail maintenance in my local park and in fact, will be clearing the trails of 2 trees tomorrow. What's even better; I have a backpack specifically made to carry a chainsaw as well as perform regular duties. It's the cat's pajamas.2 points
