  1. Yes. All the old stuff is great. Force it is the album from them that has the risky cover. Not nearly as bad as this one. I mean, what were they thinking? The only one that is worse is Scorpions taken by force. I'm not going to show that one at all.

  2. Did a little bit of research on that. The cover art of the album was changed because of the newspaper front page in it.

  3. This is the age of catering to and protecting those whose lives center around stirring the pot, spewing useless misinformation all while using the interweb as their indisputable source. No different here.

  4. The cover to permanent waves was altered? Never knew that. I have several albums by the scorpions and one by blind faith, and UFO, and likely a few others that are WAY more controversial than that. Now those are covers I couldn't show my parents then, or my kids now!

  5. Thanks for that @GWSmith Got a drop "out for delivery" here today. Just a couple more lp's nothing spectacular. lol BTW, @saynothingatall, this old gear @GWSmith speaks of? We, or rather @Full Range will help fix ya right up when it comes to spending money, which as we all know, keeps us broke but in our happy place! 😂

  6. Plane wave tube measurements tend to overemphasize the low mid response of the driver and would seem to indicate the response rolling off sooner than it would in an actual horn. Collapsing polars with a rise in frequency is needed to keep the on axis response flat without EQ. Constant Directivity horns will either have a rolled off upper response(on and off axis) or you implement EQ to boost the upper frequencies to maintain a flat response. i still have a pair of K-400 horns sitting around here somewhere. once the weather gets nice I plan on getting some on and off axis measurements with the K-55-V just to satisfy my curiousity.

  7. @saynothingatall hopefully you'll stop back in at some point. If you choose to hang around and share your system and collection with us feel free to do so. I see you did post @Full Range's thread so here's the jist of it. We ALL blame EVERYthing that happens in here on him! It's ALL his fault we're the way we are. Welcome to the gaggle!

  8. That's interesting, never did look into it back then. Had the good cover already... just like "Love at First Sting"!! Besides no duckduck, no google... no pc that I knew of in the wee hours of the 80s! Phones had long pigtail cords Apple with floppies was just around the corner!

  11. I'm stumped by Grinderswitch, got to admit! The others of course make regular rotations. Thought I had more UFO albums, but these are all my favorites, all minty first pressings. I think I'll play one, and then the first album by UK which I accidentally pulled out. Haven't listened to that one in like forever.

  12. Good evening my friends. It's after dinner and a snowy evening here in the North East. So, what better then to continue with the 3rd Ronstadt / Riddle LP. Two photos showing the artwork and all cued up for Side One, and an after dark photo here in the cozy room

  14. Good afternoon all. As promised, it is now time to relax with this set of Linda / Riddle LPs. I bought these at different times off eBay, all were SEALED new old stock. It really is nice to sit back after a week of anticipation to finish a speaker project and enjoy the music now that it is finally done and realized. Here we go! 'Whats New' now playing, and the inner sleeve artwork. ......The Superscope S-212's in position. These things are efficient, yet that 12" handling the bass/midrange is really a velvety sound and that old school paper cone/dome tweeter sits nicely on top.

  15. Reminds me of the old Maine farmer who gets a wounded moose stuck in his barn. He starts charging folks 25 cents to go in and see it up close. A family pulls up out front in a station wagon and gets out to go see the moose. The farmer looks them up and down and tells them they can go in for free. ”It’s worth more for my Moose to see your family than it is for your family to see my Moose.”

  16. There is a very long Plane Wave Tube mounted above the chamber in Hope (or was it Indy). One can presume that PK probably used it at least once or twice. 🙂

  17. PWK tested the K-55V with klipsch's various horns and so did the Engineering Team , this " plane wave tube measurements " based on Atlas Sound's testing methods has nothing to do with Klipsch unless one believes in fairy tales

  18. @mustang_flht some good stuff. I'm kinda partial to the big man, Tal, and Nathan East. Slip to the 30:00 minute mark for a nice lil tune w/Joe Walsh (he's sneaky like that) on the lead doing "Love Is A Heart Attack." Joe didn't even hesitate and jumped right in there! It dropped in 1970 but I had mine a bit earlier. It's a great combo! John NEVER missed! Oh yea, turn it UP! Tal Wilkenfeld? Pffffft, off the charts imo. With Jeff Beck @ the 2007 Crossroads Festival in Chicago. 32 minutes of her w/Beck that day? Watch her go! Nathan East? Totally solid. Gotta remember, in my opinion, those great drummers and super bass players are the heart of any band especially rock n roll. Just a few favs of mine. Everyone's got theirs.

  19. Good Monday friends! Ok, JUST got in from my morning workout with a snow blower (ears noise protected even though it is electric) and settling in with this one from 1985. A jazz recording on London 'Digital'. Kiri singing with more lovely Nelson Riddle arrangements. Here is some cover art, front and rear side. SIDE ONE in progress on the Orbit Custom....

  27. Moving on to 'Lush Life'. All 3 of these recordings are outstanding!, the liner notes are aplenty with info on the mixing / engineering and arrangements involved. These pics are of the 'motion' album cover and inner sleeve, and SIDE A on the UTurn.

  28. Had to open the link in edge for it to work, others from it worked in chromium. Reminds me of Queensryche some, saw them with Tesla opening for the a couple years after they had a few hits.

  33. To go along with that Grinderswitch introduction I made in Paul's other dy-no-mite thread. Info on where they came from... interrelated info anyhow. It's a big deal in Southern Rock! If you're ever in Macon? (Try to see Blackberry Smoke if you can!) https://capricorn.mercer.edu/history/ https://www.ranker.com/list/bands-and-musicians-on-capricorn-records/reference

  35. The motorboard are stapled and maybe glued. I’ve never taken one out, but I’ve put one back. It had gotten dislodged by being shipped improperly. A block of wood, a hammer, and some glue. Fixed. You could probably knock them out the same way, but you lose the integrity of the cabinet taking it out. YMMV.

  39. I have no idea why they changed it. Bikinis show more than that! Or was it the dude getting ready to get taken out by the huge violent wave? But I got that record before they even came to town after it's release!

  40. Maybe because of the skirt? But I think at the beginning of the 80´s that should not have been controversial, no?
