  2. In America everything is compared to a football field. Would 300 liters per square meter make it to the 10 yard line, midfield, or cover the entire field? 😂

  3. Thanks so much John and friends! There are a bunch more LAVA in storage, but, each shelf is by year and model. Two in the center top are from ENGLAND (Mathmos) which is the ORIGINAL lamp of this type. Lava/Simplex company came on the scene 2 years later in 1965. I had to pick up a special 240 volt power supply to power them. Anyway, I was a serious collector back in the 90ies. But now, to light that entire display is 1100watts and makes a HUGE amount of radiant heat. So, I only put a few on at a time. There then is the Lava Lamp collection lesson. 😊 I DO have a photo from a long time ago of the entire setup lighted. Perhaps, if you are interested, I could did that up. VERY colorful for sure.

  12. Just a few from yesterday's run. Crazy day today cause I'm loadin up again! Watchin a bit of college hoops, volume down and cookin with gas! Straight Shooter is the second studio album by the English hard rock supergroup Bad Company. The album was released on 28 March 1975.[5] The album reached number 3 on both the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200.[6][7] It was certified gold (500,000 units sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America a month after its release.[8] The album was remastered and re-released in 1994. The track "Shooting Star" (written by lead singer Paul Rodgers) was lyrically inspired by the drug and alcohol-related deaths of guitarist Jimi Hendrix and other rock musicians. Full Moon Fever is the debut solo studio album by Tom Petty, released on April 24, 1989, by MCA Records. It features contributions from members of his band the Heartbreakers, notably Mike Campbell, as well as Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison (who died prior to its release), and George Harrison, Petty's bandmates in the Traveling Wilburys.[2][3] The record shows Petty exploring his musical roots with nods to his influences.[4] The songwriting is mainly collaborations between Petty and Lynne, who was also a producer on the album. Full Moon Fever became a commercial and critical success, peaking at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified 5× platinum in the United States and 6× platinum in Canada.[5][6][7] Cheap Thrills is the second studio album by American rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company, issued by Columbia Records in 1968. Cheap Thrills was the band's final album with lead singer Janis Joplin before she left to begin a solo career. For Cheap Thrills, the band and producer John Simon incorporated recordings of crowd noises to give the impression of a live album, for which it was subsequently mistaken by many listeners. Only "Ball and Chain" was actually recorded in concert at the Winterland Ballroom.[2][3] Cheap Thrills reached number one on the charts for eight nonconsecutive weeks in 1968. If you ain't got it ya darn sure better git it! Classic and Janis is ahhhhmazing! Sometimes You Win is a studio album by the American band Dr. Hook, released in 1979. It was produced by Ron Haffkine.[2] The album contains three of the band's most commercially successful singles: "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" (also included on their previous album Pleasure and Pain), "Better Love Next Time" and "Sexy Eyes."

  14. I'll change the subject ... this sounds like a bunch of old people ... Got adventurous and fired up the Oldsmobile. After charging the battery for 2 days, it needed to have a basic problem fixed. Too much air in the fuel tank and not enough air in the tires. I was lucky the fuel didn't go stale. Took her for a little cruise ... a few miles. I can't say that I don't like the soft ride it offers. It is a comfortable car.

  17. Been a while, first tune on this one could be a great phone alarm! pulls up at one of their jazz tinged jams He left his earlier music behind when he got his "White Chip" so to speak. Quit playing some of our faves the last couple decades before he went home 7/6/20. That's how it started with the coffee and laundry earlier. Now I'm up and pinballing around.

  18. Those big rides are long gone. That was half the fun of cruisin back in the day. Could drive forever and then... 😂

  19. Oh Yeah, and you know that is what their niche in GM was long ago. Even their late 60s 4-4-2s had a good ride. But you'd better have enough air in the tires to handle the roadways! Being a youngster was a lot of fun!

  21. My late wife had an early '70s Datsun 1200. Not long after she got that, I was able to get a Datsun 620 pickup (I think), maybe 1974. Those were great vehicles.

  23. Bolts replaced? What's with that? Friends wife has a Z4 and loves it when she gets it outta the garage. Part of their collection. Guy is passionate about all the rides in his stable. 3 Porsches, the Z4 convertible and a new red vette w/maybe 50 miles on it. He's gonna turn the vette and make some chump change. I'm waitin on him to finish his old Lotus rebuild. Bouight it in boxes from the original owner who bit off more than he could chew. It's been sittin in the garage for him to tinker with for 20 years or more. lol Almost like us upgrading our rigs.

  24. No, no and no. Woke up to about 3 inches of fluffy stuff. 50's yesterday. Go figure. Gonna sit back and watch it melt. High of 31 today and 50 tomorrow? Tuesday's high is 55? It's springtime around here. Coffee's on then I'm gonna relax, nose a bit and fire the rig up. I'm gettin the itch and want to open this place up but it's still too early. Just another day at the office.

  25. I recall everybody loved workin' on their Datsuns back then. It was always to "improve"... drivability, handling, heat the fuel line in the wintertime. Endless possibilities that were all cheap!! The `88 if you got a good`un, KEEP IT!

  26. I have an 88. Not so big. The boy's MustangGT was the same size. This car has a few cross-country trips on her. the most fun car I've has was a '71 Datsun 510. That little car would go anywhere you pointed it

  32. I will need to drive 2 hours to pick up new Cornwalls to avoid shipping and taxes. I would like to know the dimensions of the factory boxes so I don't run into issues with them not fitting in my SUV. I can not find info on the boxes anywhere on the web. If anyone still has the boxes Please let me know the dimensions. Thank you.

  33. Yup that's a crappy *** remaster. Either get the original CD or vinyl. Those sound wonderful. All the original 7 Iron Maiden CD's except Piece of Mind sound very good. Original vinyl is excellent but the cds will do for less price. Get the CD's before they shoot up in price. The 1995 Castle 2 cd versions contain the original excellent masterings. All other cd masterings of Maiden are pretty bad. This is mostly true of all classic metal, Judas Priest and Metallica for example.

  35. Ok, I've absent for a bit, however, just a couple days ago, I had the idea to try moving some speakers around. And after HURKING these 72 lbs. speakers up a flight of stairs (you ought to try that when you are in your 70ies ), there is a revelation !!! The Forte 4's are a totally different speaker up here in the cozy room, and the B&O Beogram 6500 system luckily and happily is an amazing matchup! Why? I can't say, but the sound is so much warmer, low end that shakes the room and floor like a pair of subwoofers! Here are a some brand new photos from this morning. I have them pulled out from the front wall 2 feet after much testing with a 28Hz. tone test and my DB-C weighted meter. Just like in the large room on the first floor, and other reviewers have found out, these get deeper in the lower range when pulled away from the wall. They are also 8.5 feet center to center and the two love seats are 11 feet from the speakers. I included a photo of the space BEHIND the listening area which is pretty much totally open. Here you go: with and without grills.....

  41. Oh yeah..one more thing..not only did I have this same crackling on my Klipsch's, my paradigms but also my cheaper speakers I had with my first HT. That is why I think its the source. I have been thinking about hooking up my Fortes to try to see if they give the same sounds.
    1 point
  42. I have had the same problem. I have came to the conclusion that its the source material most of the time. I have another HT set-up in my basement with smaller paradigms and a cheap receiver. I can hear the same "distortion" while playing it through this set-up as well as my RC-3. I think I hear it more because I play the klipsch's louder and also they reveal more of the sound. Just my thoughts.
