  11. All those songs from abacab? were played so much everywhere back in the 90s that I couldn't listen to it anymore for a while. It was a well done release though... for pop music. I'm up and running again until the replacement hits in a couple weeks... and it will sound very different in here at that point!

  13. Back in the ole days there were "loudness" buttons/switches on systems. They were meant to do exactly what I think you want. They would attenuate the lows(especially) and highs of the music so we would appreciate it more at low volumes. You could try cranking up the bass and treble knobs while listening at low volumes.

  14. KlF 20 and 30 are very nice speakers and some of the best from Klipsch non-Heritage line. Tubes may be the answer for a change of taste and maybe a crossover update. I liked the sound of the KLF 30 over my RF 7II's.

  18. So, I couldn't wait and decided to wire up the system in the staging area. My initial impressions are that the Jubilee's are a very different speaker from the Klipschorn AK6 I had previously. Bass is deep and rich. Shakes the house (literally). I am thankful to have concrete floors in the final resting place for these speakers. There is some finicky work in arriving at the right mix of HF + LF in the cabinets. The MC252 amplifiers are barely registering signal. Maybe .25 watts for the amp dedicated to HF. Something like 10 watts at ear-bleeding volume for the amp dedicated to LF cabinets. More like 2-3 watts for regular listening level. This thing thumps and I have already decided to likely jettison my SVS sub. These don't need a sub. The bass can easily overwhelm. Now I am thinking to scale back and revisiting that thread on using MHA100's or some other lower power amps for this system.

  20. Stay safe @KROCK duck and cover is a proven myth from the B&W movie days now, so just run outside away from the flying bricks! Maybe it's why folks are going back to the dark ages over an eclipse Monday. I'll be driving through it towards Nashville when it hits. Hope that army of the dead stays in Atlanta where it belongs!

  22. This is what I have been doing for years. EQ the speaker to the room. Works fine. But I will get one of Klipsch's new ported subs. That will be a major breakthrough.

  23. They sounded very good but the drivers I used wouldn’t play as low as the K-33 or unfortunately quite as high so they had a little trouble getting to 400Hz. they were flatter through the middle of the woofers normal range however and had a very nice quick attack. The original woofers that Dennis used are now unobtanium and I haven’t been able to find T/S parameters to exactly compare. Making my plenum angled and adding some wedges to reduce the internal volume would probably help with the high end. There were some other woofers that might work better that are still available, but at a higher cost compared to the budget drivers I used. In the end I swapped my K-33 back in and I’ll probably go eventually to a K-43 or an Eminence Kappa 15C. I do think there is merit to the PPSL function and I’d like to build a pair of Dennis’s dual 15” PPSL subs to go underneath my KP-250s.

  26. It is not easy to say. For years I have enjoyed the NAD, Denon, HK, and such, plus the Yamaha, Pioneer, Kenwood and the ilk. IMHO, Sansui and Marantz were two that chased the 'dream' beyond others. I have gotten into the McIntosh SS equipment and I have to admit that it is a notch above where I was. Several tube guys say that MC isn't where they are with their tubes. I am enjoying the journey.

  28. With the port mod and active EQ to manage it on the low end as Dennis recommended, my LS are pretty solid to 35Hz.

  29. What @Invidiosulus posted above was a copy of one of DJK's posts. He passed away a few years ago. Used to work at a Klipsch dealership in Iowa, later part of his life was an engineer at Collins Aerospace. Brilliant, funny, thoughtful. Would bend over backwards to help you, but didn't suffer fools. He probably threw away/burned more speaker designs than most people have owned. His directness turned off a lot of people. I knew his younger brother and through him, met Dennis. That's how I got turned on to Klipsch. The ported LS still comes back like a ghost. May he rest in peace.

Genesis Revisited: Live at the Royal Albert Hall is a live album by musician Steve Hackett. It was recorded at the Royal Albert Hall, London, during the second UK leg of a tour around the release of Genesis Revisited II. It features a full set from the show performed on 24 October 2013, including 18 Genesis songs. The box set features the full live show across two CDs and on one DVD, together with a further DVD containing two documentaries. It's a bit pricey but well worth every penny! .

  33. Be aware, the level controls on the DSP are NOT tone controls, they are gain controls. They are meant to be used when you are using different amplifiers with different gains for HF and LH, for example using tubes for HF and solid state for LF. If the amps for HF and LF are identical, the controls should be at the same position on both. I asked Klipsch Chief Engineer Roy Delgado (@Chief bonehead here on the Forum) about this. He said since I'm using identical amps to just set both gain controls to the 12 o'clock position.

  34. Welcome back! A pre-amp isn’t going to give you anything you’re looking for. Looking at the specs of your receiver, make sure Eco mode is turned off. If you have tone controls turn them up and see if that helps.

  39. All good advice. I am not sure what his budget is or how thrilled the wife will be to start adding speakers. While this may open up a whole new thread, any advice on fronts and a center? The TV is on a table/stand but there is not a ton of room in front of the tv for a center. Thats why the soundbar is attractive - a little slimmer.
