Dark Side of the Moon 50th clear vinyl delivered today. Ordered it months ago. 2 albums. Can only play one side. Sound quality is top notch! Much better than my late 70s MFSL. And the clear vinyl with the silk screen printing looks mesmerizing on my Ortofon cork mat!! 😆

@Klipsch104db How'd it sound? Anything of substance? Only saw a couple I really wanted but they only had 3 of the one. Blah. Just another over-rated day in the land of vinyl. I was eyeballin the Neil Young release but I think I've got darn near all of his now. They did say they had 100 copies of Taylor Swift's drop yesterday! 😂

As much as I appreciate the measurements, waves and graphs and science behind good engineering, I am much more subjective in my approach. Does this (placement/separation/transparency/sound stage) sound good to me? What's important for me to hear and feel may be very different from an engineer or reviewer or someone else on this forum. Fine by me! I just love talking and reading and learning about this, and hearing what others have to say.

Sounds fantastic! Looks even better. Did a good job mastering it. Worth the $25 I paid for it. The last song on the album, Think About It has a Dazed and Confused sound to it. Some are already on Ebay selling at inflated price. I couldn't tell you if they had any Taylor Swift. Wasn't on my list.😅

Normally I don't like re-masters @Schu but that might be one of the good ones. Had a Pink Floyd "Wish You..." LP pointed out a few years back, and I did think it improved on the original release! Got some incoming 50 yr remastered SACDs, Frampton's first three. Was able to relisten before I bought, my vinyl??? These will be right here and pretty soon! I like the easy listening rock sometimes also!

While everyone is debating the $4k Chorus II's advertised elsewhere, I'm putting my Chorus II's here in Houston up for sale. Thinking $800. Have had for 15 years, all original except for the grills, which were purchased new from Klipsch several years ago when you could still get them. Nonsmoker, no pets. Certainly not as nice as those for $4k, and obviously cosmetically they are in relatively rough shape, compared to most on this site. They were this way when I bought them, but musically they sounded as they should back then, and still do. Comments are welcome, if you're not too tough on me Don't need to sell, but if someone is interested who is local, please let me know.

Klipsch speakers are known for high efficiency. One measly watt of input should be plenty loud for most anyone. Some of us swear by low powered SET or Class A SS amps while others feel they need at least 100 watts if not a couple of hundred. Not being an audio engineer, I don't understand what additional watts can do other than increasing SPL to ear damaging levels, and I would like to learn. Part of my reason for asking is that I've started using my old Fisher x-101-b (28 wpc) instead of my 8 wpc ACA, and I've noticed some significant differences. Is it just the additional output power, or is it the fact that one is tube and the other SS? Or, is it a combination? Or, is it something else all together? Educate me, please!

I've had items in worse condition, and dented dust caps on the back side wouldn't bother me. That's a great price.

I have two amplifiers. One is 8 wpc (300B) and the other is a whopping 15 wpc (EL84). Neither one comes close to clipping in my system when cranking any music I desire. A lot of this is because of well designed power supplies. Not all flea watt amps are created equal. Once you hear one with some balls, you'll understand. I don't give two s&*ts about home theater. Not in my room.

I think you are hearing the difference between technology AND topology. You aren't trying to drive a pair of Wilsons or Martin Logans which can have wild impedance swings. Klipsch speakers tend to have a benign impedance variance, so even the less efficient models are not hard to drive as most other speakers. A better experiment would be pitting two SS or two tube amps of different power ratings against each other on your Fortes. I tried a 150 wpc VTL and a 12 wpc Aric Audio amp on Cornwall IVs. I couldn't hear any improved dynamics or bass control with the VTL, but preferred the Aric for it's tone and imaging. Both sounded equally powerful after adjusting for any gain difference.

Everybody has a budget...some guys have a really big one obviously.

Here is my issue. I have a large basement room 30x15. I am using half of it about 15x15 for my HT. I have Chorurs IIs, academy, and 4 heresy IIs for surround. All driven by rotel amps. The room has a cement floor. I want bass you can feel. I have a SVS PB ultra 2 in the front right corner and a SVS CS ultra (driven by a carver 1.5) in the back corner. I just bought a Integra 9.8 in hopes that the audssey would help on the lack of bass ( It did, a bit) Last night I had people over and the kids were watching the Bee movie while the adults were upstairs having drinks. There were a couple of times that (upstairs) i thought the house was going to come off the foundation. I went downstairs and noted the passages in the movie. Later on, I replayed the passages while I was down stairs. Decent bass, but quite frankly there is quite a bit more upstairs. I am considering another sub, but I think I have plenty since the house is literally moving. HELP! My friend thinks i should put 2x4s on the concrete, then tounge-in-groove plywood covered with carpet. He says that this will allow the room to move. He blames the whole mess on the concrete. Has anyone else been in my boat? Thanks Ken Ka

Ear-- Sorry, im confused and your recomendations are going to be difficut as the PB12Utra 2 weighs 200lbs. You are recommending that I move the PB12ultra 2 (currently in the front right corner) along the front wall twards the middle of the room? Possibly to the left side of the tv? I can also move the CS ultra (currently in the back right corner) to the middle of the back wall, to the left of the book case. My current system is chorus II mains heresy II side quartet rear academy center svs pb12 ultra 2 svs cs ultra (carver 1.5 amp driving) Rotel amps. I am building a real cool garage. I just picked up a set of heresy iis on ebay to use in the garage with an old carver amp. they just arrived. they are pristine. im thinking about putting them in the rear of my main system and putting the quartets in the garage comments?>

I had the same problem. I have Chorus II main, Heresy sides, quartet rear. how the hell can i set the chorus speakers to smal? they arent small. i bought a svs pb12 ultra2. Big sub. I played around trying to get this set correctly for a month. tried everything. the best setting was setting everything to small. I really think the bass comming out of the chorus was cancelling bass in the room from the sub there are test tone cds on crutchfield. buy one. run the low frequency tones (50hz or lower) while it is playing, walk around the room. You will literally find places were the bass is dead and others where it is loud as hell. this problem is severly aggrivated with "large" speakers for some reason. i ended up also gettting a svs cs-ultra. my bass rocks. oh, even set at small the woofers on your chorus speakers still get some action. they are not off. try this. go get steely dan goucho, DTS. play the first 2 tunes in DTS with your speakers set large. then do it again small. I bet a beer you dont re-set them large. Maybe if you do you should go get a new sub. just my .02 kaz

i bet a dollar that their development budget for heritage over the past 5 years is less than 5% the total budget. CWIII is not officall yet. check the facts. the la scalla and heresy are great additions. two (the klipsch horn is new skin) new speakers for us in what.......10 years? how many "modern" speakers have they made in the same time 100? you do your research. i just spent 3 grand on subs. the thx subs are not a perfect match. not even close. kaz
