  1. For salsa, it's hard to beat a Chile Pequin, aka chile de monte. Tasty, flavor packed little buggers that will bring a tear to your eye. They are most definitely a favorite all along the South Texas border region. Easy to grow, but they can't survive a cold snap much below the mid 30's. Lots of different takes on making salsa, cooked or not cooked, very flavorful. I love'em toasted on a comal together with tomatoes and/or tomatillos. They're excellente my friend.
  2. Gone... no soup for you.
  3. Lived in Broken Arrow (Tulsa area) for 13 yrs., and can tell you there's not shortage of over the top religious nut jobs in that state. Religion has a direct affect on a good number of laws, both common sense laws and some bordering on asinine. Some really believe Jesus roams around the Oral Roberts campus at night.
  4. I'm guessing those bigass Goonch Catfish have been eating good.
  5. At 11:45am this morning I got my One & Done..... and i felz fyne as phrankinzsteinz
  6. I don't need your book for that, I've forgave you a long time ago. 😉
  7. I can enjoy or can be amused listening to just about anything. I found that Tibetan or Mongol throat singing interesting. But Yoko Ono’s howling makes my skin crawl. I have a low tolerance for gangster rap and most modern day country music. Over the course of a week I can listen to anything from U2 to Country Folk, from Regae to Heavy Metal to Chopin.
  8. I've not had the vaccine for the same reasons expressed here by several members. My wife and children were vaccinated. Wife will receive her second dose in two weeks. The girls are done. I have discussed it with my families internist (Dr. T. Hernandez), he's relatively young, mid. 40'ish and a little famous, which isn't why I see him. Simply put, the man is good, and I'm a tough nut to convince. I found him through my the cardiologist (Dr. M. Canales), also well known. Both men have been recommending that I get the vaccine. Dr. Hernandez explained to me that the vaccine had been in the works for a very long time, more than a decade, but that there were ($$) issues with discovering ways to get the body to absorb it. After the break-out (thank you China), he explained that funding became a non-issue and that scientist discovered a way using fatty tissue (??) or using the body's fatty tissue to adsorb the medication. He went on to explain in greater detail, which of course got more and more complicated for me to follow or understand. Admittedly, I am ignorant about Biology and how the body works. I have had several bad doctors' in my lifetime, and as a result, I've developed a stigma that is difficult to overcome. I trust the two mentioned above, it's been a long road to get there, but I do. I'm too stupid to be able to explain why, other than that neither of them take offence when their opinions or judgements are questioned, and both have always been able to explain, logically, my questions "Why". I am ignorant about many things medically related, what I do know is this, I lost a good friend, who was a relatively young and seemingly healthy man. His wife said he had great difficulty breathing and complained of being extremely sore; sore to the point that he couldn't lift a glass of water without being in pain. It took less than 2 weeks for Covid to take him. I'll be registering through CVS or Walgreens to get the vaccine. For the other knuckle heads like me, consider the people who love you, not just yourself. I'm done.
  9. Go to the TOP -RIGHT corner area of your screen. You'll see 3 dots vertically aligned Left Click the 3 dots, scroll down to "SETTINGS" Scroll through the settings and delete "Yahoo" or whatever search engine is trying to takeover.
  10. Keith was okay, that poor dude endured a lot of pain and had been through a lot. I liked him.
  11. That's a handsome fella..... one of my all time favorite breeds.
  12. Check the payout time? typical is approx. +30 yrs. PV modules start to croak at around 20 to 25 yrs. I don't know too much about Wind Energy, other than generators' don't tolerate freezing temps , and they can be noisy depending on design wind speed. Personally, I think they destroy the landscape. Foundations can be expensive, the preference is for moment footings which can get really big and take up a lot of land. The alternative is interconnected drilled piers, but cost goes up. I have a client that sells quite a few solar trackers up north, both single axis and dual axis. I had to get licensed in some northern states and even Ontario, Canada. There are features like "Snow Dump Mode" and there are also special PV modules that produce energy from the light reflection off the snow (or water). So yes, Northern regions and heavy snow regions are not a big concern.
  13. Structurally, there's little difference between an 8ft and 9ft tall basement wall. Concrete or Masonry, doesn't matter. As for the "Advantage", that can only be measured based on your intended "USE".... are you buying 8'-2" tall speakers? are you installing a vehicle lift?

    A Nice Topic

yea, be nice, just before you kick'em in the assets.
  15. The United States has been importing foreign oil since forever, nothing new, at least not during our lifetimes. It wasn't until the early 70's that a wakeup call came in the form of OPEC.... the "why" is a whole other story that involves Israel.... or course. Not sure how many are aware, but Saudi reportedly purchased SHELL a year or so back. They pulled the plug on their Louisiana refinery just last year. Importing oil is nothing new, except that US drilling was made a little harder and the pipeline for Canada's heavy sludge export was temporarily postponed,... again. It's purely political and has much more to do with $$ than the environment or alternative energy sources..... The O&G industry contributes heavily to team RED and the polluting "Green Energy" industry gives their kick-backs to team BLUE. Politics..... same as it ever was.
  16. Looks cheap enough that you can conduct your own little experiment and determine everything you need to know. Or you could just listen to Maynard "aka Tubefanatic", and send Duracell's tech. department an email regarding the capacity of their 2032 battery.

    Bob Crites RIP

RIP Bob.... remember riding my motorbike to visit with him a few times, back when the Cornscala was still in it's protype. He and his son treated me nice and were very kind. I never could leave emptied handed, always had to tote back a pair of tweeters, mid's or woofers. You were a good man Bob.
  18. I don't doubt the sales and profits for a moment.... marijuana sales will save the state of CA and keep all those lofty State/County/City pensions paid for...... I just don't understand how an illegal commodity can be traded on the US Stock Market.
  19. Hopefully it will be decriminalized/legalized and what have you..... but how can a company or business the sells an illegal substance (at the US Federal Level and almost all county's on planet earth) be traded on the US Stock Market.

    JUSTICE?

I never considered justice as being a concept; and don't think I can wrap my head around that part of your statement, nor don't want to. Undoubtedly I would have made a shitty lawyer. For non-legal types like myself, your words are a depressing thing to hear, especially because you're an attorney and former prosecutor; but I understand we're suppose to be living in a "Civilized World", so I can swallow or force myself to understand your inclusion of the word "subjective" in that statement. Cherry-picked from Leviticus...... (24:17-23 ) "Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death. Anyone who takes the life of someone’s animal must make restitution—life for life. Anyone who injures their neighbor is to be injured in the same manner: fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. The one who has inflicted the injury must suffer the same injury. Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death. You are to have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the Lord your God." Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the Lord commanded Moses." Is there a generally accepted point in time as to when the World and/or the United States became "Civilized"? One of my favorite college courses was "Engineering Ethics". We had an exceptional professor (Dr. William G. Solomone, Ph.D. ) who loved his work. He was considered an accomplished engineer, Geotechnical Consultant long before he switched gears and went back to college to become a degenerate.... a Lawyer. (his words, jokingly). His legal specialty is/was construction litigation and mediation. I remember him very well; conversing with him was always a treat. He could explained things effortlessly from a legal perspectives that seem similar to the way Jeff @jeff matthews uses to sometimes put things together. I loved listening to his stories about construction projects gone bad. He offered countless case-examples, the causes of which were always different. He always had the classes undying attention. The damages he typically discussed were almost always in the 100's of millions, which helped to explain the Porsche Turbo he drove to school. During the first day of class, just before he informed us that he was also a Lawyer, he introduced us to the origins of the "Building Code", which date back to ancient Babylon; The "Hammurabi Code" of 2200 B.C., which read essentially the same as the cherry picked portion from Leviticus, blunt and to the point. Zero ambiguity, void of subjective opinion. You could not use the word "concept" it was simply the rule of law.
