  1. I gotta meet her. The only thing that tops that is poor old Ima. Everybody in Texas knows her last name.
  2. After stumbling a bit, Michigan is looking pretty good. OSU, fake punt, the failed attempt negates the possible game changing fumble recovery on the 1 yand line.
  3. That was amazing. I couldn't understand the concept until about the 10 second mark, wow.
  4. I think @HDBRbuilder has posted about this in many different threads, hopefully he will chime in here at some point and point you in the right direction, you may also to be able to find some of his posts about it with the search function.
  5. You're spinning in circles. Studies show 100% will have at least one sub? What studies? "This is pure BS that I'm pulling from thin air. . . ." That is the one statement I agree with you on.
  6. He would jump in once in awhile, @david mancuso Really sorry to see him go. He's on his nest trip.
  7. So the issue doesn't follow the speaker, when you switch wires, it does same thing on other speaker. It is most certainly a hardware/audio card issue. I have never had that happen.
  8. I that was the Only Just Begun commercial, Volkswagen ?
  9. By any chance are you from Texas? I would have thought that people would have understood there are testing standards . I will post a FB link on how Trey does his testing, he is apparently trying to develop a new standard he hopes AES will adopt called the Cannon Factor. https://www.facebook.com/groups/KlipschOwners/permalink/1354750727902551/
  10. He was a big Klipsch fan. The Historian has photos, somewhere, with Leon and Klipsch speakers. The last time he was in town. I got him to sign a few things for the Museum to do something with, not sure what yet. I will try and post some pictures at some point.
  11. EIA was 1mW at 30' right? Add 49 dB. 54 dB +49=103? +4 dB for room gain, mystery solved. This some how reminded me of that Forum member who set up his LaScalas in the middle of the California desert, the photos even sounded good.
  12. I'm not technical enough to know the intricacies of all that was being discussed in the AVS thread, but I did notice that that the OP tested a center channel speaker outside using a ladder. As Jim mentioned, their sensitivity ratings are "real room" and higher than anechoic. Looks like apples and oranges to me. I think that's was Jim'Shore point. You have to know what a manufacturer means by a number, how the test, etc. before you can even begin to compare. If I was somebody who was really concerned about the sensitivity or impedance curves to that degree I would ask the manufacturer, whether it was Klipsch, or anyone else, for their anechoic numbers and impedance curves. At least with Klipsch you can get those. They are all over this forum.
  13. That thread references an earlier review on the same forum, different speakers, and it doesn't look like in the original reviewer tested sensitivity , only saying this: "After profiling the RS-280Fs, I played a 24 Hz sine wave measuring 96 dB from the MLP; there was no sign of strain and no audible distortion. All I heard was deep and powerful bass." I noticed that the Pallidums specs were listed as anechoic, in that one article I referenced. In Jim's response above I saw there is an industry standard for testing Professional lines, but doesn't appear there is one for consumer? Maybe there should be? Or, even better, require it to be anechoic so everyone is on same playing field.
  14. Here is one review, on Pallidums , where they note that their measured sensitivity was within "experimental error.* http://www.stereophile.com/content/klipsch-palladium-p-39f-loudspeaker-measurements#JSjFR7AC78P5iMCQ.97
  15. Do you have an example of this you can reference where the outside testing didn't match the specs Klipsch was quoting?
  16. What are you going to record that on? Where does that 4 Mike rig hang relative to the performers?
  17. You are going to have to AB the switch box you end up getting through your reference AB switch you use to compare speakers because even though it doesn't have measurable distortion or noise, it will sound different depending on the brand and type of resistors, connectors, and whether the internal wiring is silver or oxygen free copper. It also helps if the entire switch box has been dunked into liquid nitrigon. It certainly helps if you buy the most expensive model on the market. Oh wait, that's for crossovers. Never mind. (Just pulling your chain Jim because I know you, and thought you might get a laugh) I had a radio shack one for an outdoor setup, and there are a bunch of rack mount pro switches from places like Markertek . Get their catalog, you can go hog wild.
  18. Embarrassed to say I am taking a short break from the serious stuff and doing a little light reading, but I like his stuff.
  19. Awesome book, I love his stuff. He did take a bit if a hit on The History of the English Speaking Peoples, but he has a way of making things so interesting, at least to me.
