  1. Happy Friday. Watch your toes this weekend! OK, maybe my sawed up Toe isn't getting embraced (with good reason) by the crowd, even though I think its some of my best work Heres a shot I got with a 4" Meade Telescope. A non full moon really shows its landscape
  2. What is freaky for me is the pattern floats on top of the solution and patterns can be almost anything you want. A lot of people down here are dipping pistols and rifles with different camo patterns. I think the finish is pretty durable, but far from invincible.
  3. Sorry Dtel, I couldn't resist. http://youtu.be/FLOwCWDlVTg
  4. Swap for some '92 Industrials and some cash? They are the no alum. trim and no handle version.
  5. Onkyo has been dealing with HDMI issues for 3 or 4 years now. Noisy switching, hand shake issues and all out failure. A lot of history and great sound with them. Hope they get things sorted.
  6. http://texarkana.craigslist.org/ele/4411763000.html
  7. Have you tried unplugging the sub amp when the hum is noticable? I would just start at the top and start eliminating things one at a time until you find it. Hopefully its not any of your new in-wall wiring.
  8. Nice shot OE. Are you shooting Nikon?
  9. Its going to get ugly... The people that cant afford the new insurance packages are obviously not going to be able buy it. The younger crowd, especially quite few from WA and CO wont have the funds. Honestly, what non family bearing individual is worried about health insurance in their 20's? Dirt bags these days will pay their cell phone bill before they pay their car insurance or their frigggin' rent. The pool of coverage's wont be great enough to offset the cost, hence the huge price increase, that will only escalate. The honest tax paying individual that has no coverage through their employer will bear the huge foot in the arse that is being forced upon us. How does the Govt. fine someone that has never filed for taxes and basically has nothing to give? I see Pitchforks and Torches in the future and this time the North and the South are going to be united.
  10. Thanks JL. Yes, that cove is the main thoroughfare for St. John. The hills you see in the distance that appear to be dark clouds low in the sunset is St. Thomas.
  11. The lossless multi channel DVD offerings are what got me back in to two channel listening. Two channel lossless is divine
  12. If you are getting feedback or have a noise floor issue with it, send it back while its new. It may not be an issue now, but when the "new" wears off and you are hearing that hum in pauses of silence in movies and audio, you might be begging for a Marantz or Denon AVR then.
  13. In that case, lets not fuss about any more. Buy this And this I think you need 2 of the McIntosh amps though to get you up to 6 channels. The three meters are misleading. Its an MC205. 5 X 200
  14. In that case, lets not fuss about any more. Buy this And this
  15. Denon here. The upper Denon models usually spec out at the head of the pack in bench tests. I like the fact that their upper models are built in Japan instead of China.
  16. To a lesser extent, yes, and that is the driver that convinced me about the higher BL product producing more detail in the midrange, back then. I know others who prefer the K-43 in the LaScala. Klipsch originally went to that driver for the MWM and LaScala STRICTLY for greater power handling, but a side effect of the larger voice coil, bigger magnet, and higher BL product, was it tips the energy more towards the higher end while thinning the bass a bit. The 15C has the exact same bass smoothing thing at a bargain price, but also has even better response on the high end. OK, so here's the curve of the K43 (Black) vs. the K-33 (gray). It is the thing that convinced me tht K43's were a much better woofer in a LaScala than a K33 and to model the 15C and share the information. With either upgrade, you lose about 5 Hz on the bottom end but gain a much stronger midbass definition and MidRange!! Effectively, the 15C is like a poor man's K43 with even better high end and great power handling (see the Eminence spec. You can't beat this woofer at only 110 bucks. LS_K43vsK33.jpg LS_EminenceKappa15CvsK43.jpg Cool! Thanks for posting Claude
  17. Surprise, Surprise! What happened to GOOD TV http://youtu.be/uEjjkqGVgNs
  18. Its a roll of the dice when buying used. Although that receiver was a little further up the food chain than these, you may still want to see what an extra $50 or $100 dollars would get you in a refurb with full warranty. Just a thought http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/category/homeaudio/home-audio/1.html
  19. The biggest difference is the tweeter and X-over.
  20. I wonder where the K-43 would fall into this graph?
  21. Since Audio Android said he didn't care I will put one more. The stools are more or less one off, I made a bunch, 14 and there heavy duty and swivel, also two tables, and a 24' bench along the pond. I love to building things. After the biggest part is over it will be time for adding plants and a few other things I'm thinking of. I want to put varnish on the two table tops also Thats a cool Pavilion or "Party Cabana." You have room there for plenty of friends there. No wait, you have room for outdoor music, a couple of waitresses, a full BBQ kitchen, full Bar and friends Awesome woodwork!
  22. I would love to demo a set of those.
  23. I picked up mine for $89.00 shipped off Amazon and it was new. I agree though, a few of these are pricey and some out there that are out of production are really expensive. More and more are coming out on Blu Ray and they are very reasonable and Im hoping more labels will jump on board. Its strange that so many people here are so technical this and technical that, yet they won't just buy a $30 dollar BluRay of one their faves and give it a shot. Obviously we can't replace all our music with lossless, but for the money you can't get a better or cleaner sound improvement no matter how much you spent on hardware spinning a normal CD
  24. Jethro Tull- Aqualung 40th Anniversary Box set. (2,CD's, 1,DVD audio, 1,heavy press LP record and 1, Blu Ray Audio disk) You get the box set with just about every format out there. I have just played the Blu Ray so far, but it has every other mixing format on it. I would say I'm 95% satisfied with the multi channel playback on all of the tracks, but the LPCM original mix 2 channel recordings sound the way you have been hearing them for decades, only 10X better and it just leaves you breathless. There are two or three tracks in the DTS HD master and LPCM mix where the lyrics just seem to be concentrated only on the center channel which makes the vocals sound weak and seem non existent. Its almost like an error when compared to the rest of the DTS tracks which are incredibly mastered and I'm not a huge DTS HD Master fan. I prefer the basic LPCM in most cases. Having said that, you get a great mix out of the LPCM 5.1 setting and a very transparent, almost wet sound out of the 4.1 mix, which sounds a lot like multi channel stereo and they mixed the .1 sub to honk in this mix! . Once you make it to the Bonus tracks, you have a mix of stereo and multi channel playback depending on which song. Minus the two or three strangely mixed multi channel tracks, (which I'm going to investigate more on) this set is incredible. The bass is extended way beyond the original recordings on the new mastering version...remember, you get the original recording too, lossless. The old hiss you could hear at the beginning on Locomotive Breath while the Piano intro played is gone with the new mix. I literally sat for a couple of hours listening to different formats on the different tracks. I have never seen any recording offer each track in so many different formats, its very cool seeing how your system sounds and reacts differently. This collage of music will show you just how clean you system is capable of. This disk WILL make you diss your convenient mega list of point and click MP-3's. It WILL make you turn your nose up on your Red Book JT offerings. It WILL make you strive to find more lossless music that are staples of your yesteryear of listening. I think the delicate JT vocal passages, acoustic guitars and the melodies we all have had branded on our brain over the years is really what gives you such a pronounced WOW factor when you hear this lossless offering and easily comparing it to the past from your memory. This disk is my new leader and I really didn't think it couldn't get much better than the Fleetwood Mac Rumors DVD 9.7+/10 This set isn't cheap, but like all the other expensive sets and some being out of print, its very, very worth it. Plus, I got a friggin LP album of Aqualung now !
