I've got one of those XDA-1 DACs as well. Don't use it anymore. Did not like the fact that they controlled the volume digitally by truncating the number of bits. Can't remember if i ever put a scope on the XLR output.. and it really doesn't matter. The manual for it says nominal output is 1 Vrms but the XLR output is capable of 12Vrms! It should be able the drive the you know what out of the inputs of the DX38. And you have the input gain turned up to +6. Some part of this puzzle is missing.

DTel, Your DAC doesn't have enough "gain reach" to drive the DX 38? The DX 38 has input level controls that go to +6dB over unity. Are they maxed? Which DAC are you using? And CECAA850 will tell you I'm a d$%khead Nazi about this: How is it wired? Sorry for the hijack, Duder

Agreed, call Mike. Deal might get even better. When I got my RF7 II based family room HT from him it was close to 50% off retail. Seems like the more you buy at the same time the better the price gets on each item. Plus I think he has more stuff than he can put on the website, so if you want some component different ask if he has it or can get it. Sorry--- I re did the math it was only about 40% off retail not 50. Still a smokin' deal IMO
