  1. They look nice and sound great. You got a good deal, no matter what they looked like 40 years ago.
  2. That is a nice home theater system you put together.
  3. I have listened to the Cornwall IIIs and the RF-7IIs, but not side by side, so it is hard to pick a favorite. One might be better in some environments than the other, so the way it looks and fits into your room is an important part of selecting between two great choices. As someone said earlier, the ideal situation would be to have a pair of each, in two different rooms of your house.
  4. If you have the room for some 48" x 30" x 24" subwoofers, I think you should get them and rattle your windows.
  5. Looking good. Are these the same Cornwall cabinets that were painted black as seen in this thread's first post?
  6. Was that a basic suggestion to move your subs around, or was it based on specifics about your room and your four subwoofers?
  7. The birch speakers pictured in the ad appear to have the enclosed back with La Scala Industrial style wire terminal cups, so they may also have the K-43 woofers. Enjoy your road trip to pick them up. Nice scenery out that way.
  8. I shall add it to my list of fun things to do.
  9. Emile, Thanks for packing and taking the brackets to the post office. I look forward to using the brackets on some horns that have been sitting in a box.
  10. The eBay scammer keeps hacking into legitimate eBay sellers storefront accounts and then listing HUNDREDS of attractive items, like cameras, bicycles, tools and audio equipment at a cheap starting price. The scammer has recently moved its "Pay through Gmail" link onto a second page, hosted by a false domain web-site. That might indicate that the scammer is getting pushed back due to being reported by us, but eBay should do more to protect its sellers and buyers!
  11. The upcoming trial of Google's Waymo vs. Uber, about their self driving car LIDAR technology, should be interesting.
  12. But if they back off every time a human driven car causes an unsafe following distance, I think there may be times when the self driving cars will slow down so much that they may just stop in the middle of the heavily travelled freeway, because they can't respond to the chaos of human drivers. Not trying to be negative about self driving cars, which I find fascinating, I just see a lot of commuters who think they are NASCAR drivers, with a phone in their hand.
  13. I veneered these Cornwall II's to match the decor.
  14. I have driven on packed highways six lanes wide, every car travelling forward at 60 to 75 MPH, that if you back off to leave three car lengths of space between you and the car in front of you, then someone will pull their car or truck into that "empty space" to get into the apparent faster lane. How do self driving cars deal with these "logically unsafe" human conditions?
  15. That mahogany is very pretty. Klipsch connected with some of the best veneer suppliers over the decades. Wish I could see its iridescent glow in person, but maybe it's better that they are far away. Would be excellent in a room with matching woodwork and good lighting.
  16. I agree with avguytx that you should do several samples so you can get familiar with veneer lay out, glue thickness, clamping (or ironing), etc. etc. A practice cube is ideal, but you can start out just veneering some scrap pieces of plywood or MDF to get the feel for it.
  17. I have been reporting the scam ads for years. It is a tiresome, but I can't slack off when I observe people doing bad things.
  18. It is a fraudulent ad. Please report it to eBay. On the ad page, click on "Report item", then there is a sequence of 3 drop menus. If you report it as "Avoiding eBay fees", that is the best way to get eBay's computer program's attention, to have the ad removed. As for the fraudulent ad, the pictures were lifted from an actual sale back in 2010. Now someone is using these pictures to lure victims into sending money or credit info to a G-mail address on the web page accessed by clicking on "SEE FULL ITEM DESCRIPTION". Please report this and all the other similar fraudulent ads to eBay.
  19. Yes he does. I don't have anything to contribute to the DIY amp threads, but do enjoy reading them.
