  1. I don't think there is anything wrong because what you describe is very similar to what I experienced when I tried the 64II, I ended up switching back to the RC-7. Now that I have the RF-7 II's (same horn) I experience the same thing at times with my mains, it's like certain high frequencies are boosted and with some material it just gets obnoxious and needs to be turned down. I believe Deang has come up with some crossover mods to address the issue but I'm not entirely sure, was going to message him about that.
  2. I've been reading good reviews on the new Klipsch 115sw subs and they seem to be affordable. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-R-115SW-Passive-Subwoofer-/272566851573?hash=item3f764017f5:g:7AIAAOSwax5YrzpM
  3. That is heart breaking right there!! Did you keep them / fix them?
  4. These old Cornwalls need fresh caps and mid horn gaskets at the very minimum, I'd even spring for the new CT-120 tweeters if you plan on keeping them. Lifeless is not how I'd describe my experiences with the Cornwall so I would suspect something is wrong somewhere.
  5. Just for clarification I only had the k-107 when I had the Heresy III's, which I compared to the KP-792 in my Chorus II's at the time. The KP-792 did not come stock with the titanium diaphragm, I believe they came with the black shiny plastic poly diaphragms. The plastic horn lens and magnet are the same though from what I can tell. The Chorus (I&II) have a 1" motorboard which is unlike most of the home models, I had to shave off the inside of the cabinet housing to fit the new tweeter as the depth of horn lens is shorter on the newer Tractrix tweeter. I'm fairly certain that there would be no need for any cabinet modification for these in the forte as they use the more standard 3/4" motorboard.
  6. Cash only and meet in a public place is the only way I do local deals any more. I just sold a Sunfire 12" active driver to a guy who was ripped off by craigslist buyer about a year ago. He said he sold a pair of speakers to a guy, had him over to the house for a demo and he bought the speakers and all was fine. About 3 months later his house was broken into and they cleaned him out, he didn't even think of the guy who had bought his speakers but a couple of weeks later the cops called him and told him they had found some of his stolen property and when they asked him if he could identify the thief low and behold it was the guy who had bought his speakers months back. So, even people who seem legitimate and even buy things from you may in fact just be someone casing out your place.
  7. Finish, condition and location are going to be major factors but generally speaking the 4.2's typically sell for around $150 give or take $50. Good luck with your sale!
  8. The original forte's seem to sell for a little lower, I'd say $350-$450 for the condition you describe. The forte II seem to command a bit more, $450-$550? Of course condition and location play major factors in price.
  9. Do you have a price in mind? Do you have the original shipping box and are you willing to ship this? Thanks.
  10. Yeah, if you're searching for something rare or a good deal you can't wait around for the eBay alerts as many deals will come and go before they send out an email. I don't know the seller but if you reach out to him and explain your situation he may come down in price. As far as the new Klipsch tweeters I'd definitely look into that as soon as possible to at least establish price and availability to weigh your options.
  11. This guy has a pair for sale (listing is for one but I contacted him and he has two,) looks like he'd ship to you as well: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-K-79-K-Tweeter-and-Horn-/192113253919?hash=item2cbad79e1f:g:fvEAAOSwOgdYsNGy
  12. Yes, they use the same magnet and diaphragm so they are the exact same.

Price is going to vary of course but a set recently sold here on the forum for $900 I believe but they had rebuilt crossovers.
  14. I don't owe you anything, in fact this is the last time I'll acknowledge any of your posts. Goodbye!
  15. Seriously, thank you for the informative responses Claude and HDBRBuilder! Ok, so a couple of simple questions here, was the vertical horn model designed to be laid on its side? Does it matter which way the horns are positioned, horizontally or vertically?
  16. I can tell you that it has been brought up before and I have come to realize it myself that there is a "clique" here that are quick to light up the torches and grab the pitchforks if you dare say something out of line. There doesn't seem to be much rationale in their anger and they seem to care less about what is actually said and more about who said it and to whom. Disappointing really that a small handful of people can turn an otherwise pleasant place to be into a battlefield.
  17. Feel better? First off, I hope that this is not the impression I give people here, I certainly don't think I'm better than anyone else, that is just ridiculous. Seriously, what is the point of this forum? I'm not allowed to ask questions? I can't share my opinions or experiences? I've never claimed to know everything and certainly will not speak out about things I know nothing about or don't have first hand experience with.
  18. If someone tries to tell me an apple is the same as an orange I will disagree no matter who says it. What happened in this thread was a clear misunderstanding and it should be obvious just by reading it. I learned a lot about the Cornwall speakers from this thread because I was genuinely curious about the history, did some research and asked questions. When something isn't clear to me or someone says something that doesn't make sense I question it to gain further understanding.
  19. Well that makes sense although, in this case, we seemed to get through to the seller as he updated the listing.
  20. I actually like the Cornwall's offered in this listing even if the price is beyond the upper end of typical. I don't know that its fair to compare the original Cornwall to the III as they seem to me to be different designs. Really about the only thing they have in common is cabinet size / port and woofer but even the cabinet material and woofer placement is different.
  21. I have to disagree with this. The original Cornwall II used the same drivers but the horns were mounted vertically so to get the same dispersion you'd have to lay them on their side. That is a huge difference. The second Cornwall II used completely different midhorns / drivers and tweeters, they also went with a sealed rear panel and an MDF cabinet so it would be very hard for me to believe that there isn't some sonic differences between the two. So, from what I've learned in this thread is that there are at least 5 very distinct Cornwall's out there, 6 if you count the 1.5 model. 1) The original with k-1000 mid horn 2) the newer original with the k-600 mid horn 3) The first "II" model with vertically mounted horns 4) The second "II" model with plastic horns 5) The all new "III" model with the k-701 Heresy mid horn
  22. Congrats, I'm sure you'll be very happy with them!
  23. If both speakers were packed together in the same box they probably banged around inside the box from not being packed tight enough, this happens all the time.
  24. Sorry to hear about this, I know how frustrating it can be. I'd just make sure you communicate with the seller through eBay and make it clear you're willing to help with the claim but you expect a full refund. It is up to the seller to do most of the work but they will want pictures before they send a driver out to pick up the speakers. UPS will give you a call tag with a tracking number when they pick up the package, you'll need that number when you cancel the order through eBay.
