  1. I don't know about that. But if the Yamaha rep said that is all good, I do not see a reason to worry. What type of amplifier is that? I also have Onkyo stereo receiver, which is probably AB class. It gets pretty warm even in normal room temperatures. Therefore I turn it off after listening music. It has Pure Direct Mode like the one you have described above and it operates the same way.
  2. My Kenwood C1 is also almost cold most of the year. But now, as temperatures are over 30C, it gets noticeably warmer. I can still hold my palm over the amp and it does not go past that even after a few hours of playing.
  3. All up to 35C is fine with me, I like it warm 🙂 But humidity is what I don't like. And all kinds of funny anomalies like hails, floods, earthquakes, etc. We had all of that this and last year, and severe ones. So among all these, the heat is the thing we don't mind so much.
  4. 90-95F. A few days ago we had hail the size of eggs with a strong side-wind. Ruined roofs, facades, cars...
  5. Never too careful with guns. Unfortunately, it happens to the best of us. Just a little inattention and here you go.
  6. Time to have a lunch party with all the neighbors 🙂
  7. I agree. This one was serviced by authorised Nikon service from day 1. I lusted for one as soon as I layed my hands on one years ago. It is a pleasure only to hold it. As far as functionality, my D750 meters and focuses better in the dark. But F5 is not far behind. Since I love analog photography, this one will be a pleasure to use. Being carefull with my choice of lenses, it might see a few trips with me. I am used to howling a medium format, so this will not be a challenge as poeple are used to argue about it's weight.
  8. If this is directed to me, then yes. I am a many years Nikon user, so I have a few lenses piled up. This lens on the camera is just an old no-name lens that I used to close the lens mount for collecting dust.
  9. Got myself an old Nikon F5 camera. I wanted one for years, and finally a local photo shop had one that was sitting on the shelf for 15 years. Has some mileage (86000 actuations). Had it checked and cleaned by official Nikon service center. All is ok. Hope to shoot a lot with it.
  10. Well, maybe this is a question for another thread. Since the word "phase" is also used in MEH design, I will post it anyway. On his recent youtube channel Amir from audioscienceforum explains that phase shift is actually inaudible in our room (out of anechoing chamber). Is it really true?
  11. Curious about Benchmark too. I have been looking adds for quite some time, but there were more important things to solve. Report back how is DAC2 in your system.
  12. I think it is good to revitalize some of old threads just to update them. This could be one of such threads. B&O may be considered stylish first and sound the second. But only to those who have not heard it in person. The prices are high, that is true. But the craftsmanship and made in home land is a part of the price, which can not be claimed for many other companies. I have had the chance to hear the complete B&O system beginning 1990s, and then a few years ago for the second time when auditioning Beolab 50 speakers in a B&O system visiting audio show. Beolab 50s filled a big room with clean sound, one of the best systems that I heard in that show.

    Horology...

For decades I avoided to wear big wristwatches, not having a big forearm. But I have also kept my eye on Casio G-Forces for quite awhile. These special purpose watch pieces are the only exception (i.e. watches for outdoors men, divers) that I can accept. So, my first Casio, nothing fancy, entry level and discounted, the looks attracted me. I will not be using this one in tough outdoor conditions, it should be good for everyday usage, biking, hiking and generally not having to be particularly careful about it.
  15. Well, we are (blessed or not) to have in general a pretty much OK quality of tap water. Therefore, I have not the urge for using the bottled water in any way for drinking. It is however true that our water in general is "hard" in Deuche harpe degrees, which probably mean that our kidneys have a lot o work to do. But for now, we still manage.
  16. Well, I do not have solid bricks, but 15 inch thick clay blocks. I do have a problem with bass but without measurements not aware how big that problem is. Little experimentation with absorption made some improvements but not too much. Any way, my tinkering about all that started when I saw a photo of listening room from Hope pilgrimage, that room with Jubilees seem pretty empty except for some foam absorbers on the walls.
  17. I am not in the mood for going through all the posts. Hypothetical question here: how much can be accomplished with MEH design fully active in an acoustically untreated room? What are the parameters that matter most in such environment (i.e. ceiling height, room walls ratio etc.)? Materials of walls are made of (brick, wood, combination of both, something else)?

    Jokes?

I bet the rubber is filled with concrete 🙂
  19. NBPK402, would you describe the sound characteristic of your first MEH attempt? I was following that project hoping to maybe one day do somethinng similar. How is it different to your ears than MEH made using K-402 horns, and what made you go further with MEH explorations?
  20. Canned Heat Vintage Original recording, you even get the sound of vinyl via youtube 🙂
  21. Just to confirm that approach with my RF42IIs. Tried that years ago, and it makes the difference. Still not quite right, but much more listenable speakers than placing them further in the room like most audiophiles with their mini monitors do. Boundary gain is noticeable.

    Bicycle Tires

Never rode on Michelin, but GatorSkin is plenty comfortable to me. Just adjust the tire pressure to your weight and it is very supple on your behind. Just for reference, on my fixed bicycle I ride on Conti GrandSport race. It is ranked below GatorSkin in Conti lineup and made in China. Bought them on a discount. Good tire, but more "rubbery". And to my opinion not as comfortable as GatorSkin, pretty close but not there exactly there.

    Bicycle Tires

On not so good roads I use Continental GatorSkin (or whatever a new iteration is called). They are harder to puncture, great tire for such roads and made in Germany. Never had a problem with mine. Just have in mind that Continental is making roughly a 1mm wider tires then the rest of manufacturers. So if they say 25mm they are more like 26mm. Not that it maters much, bit if you have a tight space in the fork you might consider this info useful.
  24. Nothing but concur with what ChrisA posted. I tried Klipsch towers RF line in my several small spaces, better to follow his advice.
  25. Everything was said above. Happy birthday 😀
