  1. I'm a little confused about the driver in the rp 280f and atmos, Is it a compression horn driver like in the RF 7 or is it a tweeter mated to a horn lense?
  2. What sounds "good" to me--you might find to be terrible. Amps can and do make a difference. On my last Two AVR's I had auto-calibration--while OK, it didn't always work for my taste. I found using a different AVR worked best for me because it sounds more natural and dynamic but it didn't have the auto calibration. I don't miss it either. This is the first system I've owned that didn't have all the bells and whistles and I like it better that way.
  3. I like TT as much as the next guy but some of you pay way too much for a TT. I'd never pay that for one.

  7. Put all the speakers in the center of the room--bunched together everything will be in the center
  8. If you call Klipsch Customer Service and talk to them they might send you a new crossover you can install yourself if it doesn't void the warranty.
  9. If he got them from a retailer--it's pretty crappy the store didn't test them before sending them out again. The consumer suffers.

They're making TOO BIG a deal of this on TV
  14. Gee-I have a couple of headsets---an Un-named brand---that sound pretty good--that I paid $25 for each set--bought at Wal-Mart---2 or 3 years old---never had a problem with either set. Customers want RELIABILITY IN A PURCHASE.
  15. I hope the editing is better than the last 2 movies. The first movie was fine--the other two are hard to watch because the "action"--for me--is too close and chopped up. I like the story.
  16. I didn't read The Rules--So I don't know how to Follow The Rules--- At least that's what I tell my wife when I get in trouble.
  17. Since it's just a slit--You could get some Permatex Clear Gasket Sealers and use a little to put over the slit---I don't thnk it will affect the sound and will Stop any air leak which WILL affect the sound--Or buy a New Driver.
  18. Your cabinets have much more damping material than mine came with. Your crossover is a lot nicer than the ones that came in mine. I think you have mylar caps--I had NP Radial Cheapies---Mine were Not good for audio. Yours should be fine unless you want to upgrade. Now my horns are more efficient than what my speakers are rated for. I Did think about using a 8 Ohm L pad in case the tweeter turned out to be too loud. After installation---I don't need one. You know--Klipsch makes the Speakers to Sound Big anyways and adding the tweeter to my system was just right. I'd probally pick either the Eminence or the Small PRV and do the install Without a crossover mod and see what it sounds like. Just don't put any marks on the drivers so you can return them if you are unhappy--Parts Express is pretty reasonable to deal with.
  19. I had 4 inches to play with--I was not going to cut into the cabinets and weight is another factor to consider. Your mounting holes are the holes used for a LIGHTWEIGHT LTS Tweeter. You go too heavy and the horn might not be able to support the weight of the driver. The driver you're looking at was way too big for my cabinet. Just food for thought.
  20. After opening them up--take a look at the insulation material -- mine were underdamped and made the speakers too boomy. 2 or 3 feet of damping material--placed properly can and should make a world of difference in the sound.
  21. As I said it is confusing and when reading specks and other info I didn't want to make a Verticle Jump. I could not justify spending the money. I think I made the right choice and now I don't need to spend money I cannot afford to lose. When I buy a house--maybe I'll go Heritage but until then......
  22. It's a little confusing--hahahaha
  23. Please also understand that you bought entry level Klipsch speakers that were mass produced for big box stores. They are not by any means a true representation of Klipsch engineering. I'm not saying that the Xovers in the upper tiers of Klipsch speakers are "the best", but you need to acknowledge that they're very cheap for a reason. The speaker itself is designed very cheap and designed simply for exposing people to the brand, not to represent the actual Klipsch design. Synergy is/was the Best Buy Klipsch speaker until they decided to change the name to Icon and Reference. First generation Synergy speakers tended fwik/imo to outperform their later counter parts. The SF-3 stock could outperform the F-20 stock. All the same, the W, X, and Y Icons outperform any of the other Icons that were in Best Buy's inventory. Again, these are speakers designed for big box stores for the sake of spreading brand awareness. Just wanted to make sure that point was presented. I thought I was being "Fair" to Klipsch in pointing out that many speaker builders use componets like the componets used in the Synergy Line. If you look inside many speakers--such as the Infinity Primus--you'll find the same "quality" as used in a Synergy--that is why I said what I said---I wasn't bashing Klipsch, they seen to be on par with other speaker makers of the day--but they are all subpar where the crossover is concerned. Keeping in mind the "retail price" for these speakers is very close to the retail of Reference Klipsch. I just happened to buy mine for almost 70% off retail so I didn't really have a lot invested into them.
