  1. I recall his TV work, the guy had a great and authoritative presence. He also lived a very long life- much longer than the average American style footballer normally does. A life well lived. RIP
  2. Good advice, she is fortunately more prone to candles and such.Going to keep an eye on Alberta and maybe Saskatchewan over the winter and into next spring. We are moving into a new place the end of August so her priorities will come first. She has some new furniture plans for the dining room. I would also keep an eye out in Brithish Columbia for them also. Don't see to much in Alberta and have never seen in Saskatchewan, always check Kijijji online, probably your best bet on finding a set or even try Canuckaudiomart.com. There are a few Khorns on Canuck but mostly in Ontario\Quebec and I imagine shipping here would be quite expensive, let alone the NWT. Depending how often you get down here to Etown, we have a Dealer, Audio Ark, who happens to be the largest Dealer in Canada for Klipsch Heritage and I have seen a couple of pairs of Khorns there on trade in or on consignment over the years, located on 124st and 107 ave. Unfortunately here in Alberta, any Dealer that sells the Heritage line does not stock them in store, they are a "special order only" as we Klipschers are a special breed and we know what we want and are willing to pay for it. I do get down to Edmonton a few times a year. Have never been in Audio Arc and will check them out next time I'm down. I'm hoping October or November. Thanks for the tip. No problem, Let me know in advance and I can tour you around to a few of our great audio emporiums here and indulge in a beverage or 2...unfortunately I don't know of any places like "The Range" here in Etown like in YK...lol... What a wonderful and unexpected post. Don't run into too many folk who know YK (Yellowknife NWt for you southern folks). Trust me I can live without the Range, more of a Black Knight kind of guy. We are moving into Northern Hieghts the end of this month. I can crawl home at -40 from there!Would be very happy to meet you and take a look. Pints on me. Edit/addition: did you live here in the late 70s early 80s? Used to know a guy named Boomer with the Ultimate Vinyl Collection when I was a young man.
  3. YES I know, 37 years. Well Congratulations, on the opportunity for Khorns, and the wife. Hope the new place has corners, if not that's fixable. Thank you kindly sir, you do indeed understand. We were sort or scooted through as you usually are. More focus on bathrooms and kitchens. I beleive I may have the corners. Could be wrong, won't be the first time (wife will happily attest). Once in and settled should have a better handle on things. Fingers crossed.
  4. Sounds like it may be an issue with the TV hook up. Edit Where is your signal to the projector coming from? This could be the issue.

  6. It as you say is all about incorporating things into your life. As mentioned earlier I have a single system. Sort of the sonic hearth of the home. When company is over, it is playing, same on evenings and especially the weekends with music. When I do listen by myself, I have a half decent pair of headphones (over ear is my favourite). This happens primarily later on weekend evening when my wife is sleeping. She has MS and fatigues.then I can concentrate on the music at appropriate volumes. Everything is a compromise, it is all about finding the sweet spot that works with your living space, lifestyle and tastes. I would find a seperate system in another room just a little too separate for my tastes. Prayers for your wife’s condition…that must be rough. One thing i failed to mention is that music is complex … while i can be very social -- it’s also very private. I heard Brian May say that he doesn’t like to tell what a song is about because he wants the listener to give it their own meaning--that way it will be personal to them, and thus more meaningful. He alluded that people would be disappointed if they really knew what a song was about (because they thought it was about one thing and that is not at all what was on his mind when he wrote it). That’s the beauty of music…when we’re alone, we can take a magic ride. Steve Thank you kindly, we all have our personal struggles and most of us take our marital vows very seriously. I'm not a mind reader but I am familiar with the human condition. A change in life - situation, career, stress, health and many other things can lead us to reevaluate who we are, what we have been doing and what, in the end is most important. Sort of a priority tree that is easily ignored in the background when things are relatively static in our lives. We all change over time as we need to with what is happening around us. The only constant in life is change when you think about it. G-d knows I've been through a few, and an especially large one when my wife's health turned. I would surmise that Thadeus has changes on the horizon.
  7. Lacking proper corners ?Boy have we got a deal for you, once in a lifetime chance to truly pizz off a neighbor right out of the box. No corners needed other than perhaps one to hide behind when the cops show up! HOLY CROW!!
  8. The timing is just off a wee bit. Have been looking for a pair in Canada but am not in the market until next year. Could probably ship these to Yellowknife for a grand, which is not bad. In the very highly unlikely event of them not selling , I'm in Ottawa for business in November.

  10. I have seen the CA series used in several restaurants and women's retail stores in Edmonton. Easily ceiling and wall mountable.
  11. Fabulous house/cabin. There are folks up my way who have built similar things and put them on pontoons and float them down on the big lake (Great Slave) in Back Bay. Google up Yellowknife houseboats. A pretty neat lifestyle, propane, solar and wind genies. They are right in town but pay no taxes. Waters in Canada are under federal jurisdiction rather than municipal, provincial or territorial. They made a TV show about one of my drinking buddies, Stephan Harviuex. I'm sure you can find it on You Tube.
  12. Absolutely great centre for the right size room. Used one for a couple years and recently replaced it with an RC 62II I bought off a guy in Winnipeg on EBay. The 42 worked super fine with my RB61 IIs , the 62 is even nicer. Picked it up in anticipation of my move at the end of this month to a new condo with a larger living room.
  13. Sometimes folk get more caught up in the gear than the music itself (which is what it is really about). In a perfect universe I would have the ultimate set up, but at my age I realize there is no such thing - the posts are always moving. That being the case I live with a single system which works well for TV during the week and movies and two channel music on the weekends. Compromise? Most certainly, but it works well for me and keeps me focused on what the stuff is actually for - enjoying the content. At some point I hope to acquire some Khorns to tuck away in the corners of the same room for music playback alone. Whether or not they will be run through my AVR zone two or a seperate stereo amp in the same cabinet remains to be seen.
  14. At an achievable price point for many, the larger Reference series sound very natural to these ears.
  15. One day I'll take the plunge. Have never owned tube gear and am somewhat intimidated by it due to lack of knowledge. Are there good sounding ones at half decent prices (under or well under a thousand?).
  16. Those are truly funky looking speakers, the specs are very impressive. Stupid question alert: does an open baffle function something like an Ohm speaker? I have been fascinated by that design but have never heard-or actually seen one.
  17. I run RB61 IIs on nice metal pole stands ( a set of four) and a small KW100 I picked up new on EBay. The sound is ridiculously good for what I paid. Everything is powered by a good old Marantz SS AVR. Great with movies and even better with music (primarily Jazz). For those of you with small to medium rooms (or in condos or apartments) you can get sound that punches very far above its price point with the Reference line. I have friends with much more expensive stand mount systems that just do not compare. There is more to Klipsch than the Heritage products. Edit: Forgot the original question, my Marantz is supposed to put out 100watts over 7 channels. Have no idea if it really does, I prefer 5.1 for TV and movies and 2.1 for music. In my environment I have never needed to come even close to maximum limits. Power to spare.
  18. They look magnificent, I'm sure they sound as great as they look.
  19. I with you there. All about knowing when to say when.
