  1. Yep. Both my mother and my brother went into the hospital because they were sick, got MRSA and died days later.
  2. Yes, but in my case, it was a no-brainer. The tops already had gaping holes in the sides for stupid pocket handles, and the wood was in very rough shape. They had no drivers but real Klipsch paper tags on them, though, and that was good enough for me! I just had to let them sing once more, and it was the right thing to do. A friend 😀made me some sweet, sweet corners for the tops, and the rest is history. Now they've dropped the jaws on MANY people, and I've seen it firsthand. I'll never tire of witnessing it. When you hear the truth speak, it changes you, like it did me more than 35 years ago. The last get-together I had with them, I invited a guy that was involved in music production pretty heavily, and I asked him to critique what he heard. He sat front and center facing the THTLP, with the La Scalas about 30' apart, converging just behind him. He sat there for one entire song. He was expressionless. He was staring straight ahead for a time, then stared at the left speaker a while, then the right speaker a while. The 2nd song started and he listened for a bit, got up, and headed toward me. I asked him if they were ok. He said, "They are f-ing phenomenal". "Really?", I said. "Really. Don't change anything." With that, the work was totally worth it. This past weekend I added some mid-span screws to the edge trim to stop some vibrations I was hearing at higher volumes. Like @Thaddeus Smith, I have no regrets either. They are stunning.
  3. Yeah, and it matters which end of the log you put in first.
  4. We need pics! I don't see any danger in trying it, but that's just my opinion. code
  5. Tonight I was outside listening to my La Scala splits and noticed something I've never experienced before. I normally have them about 30' apart, and aimed so they cross in front of some chairs, with a fire pit behind me. I'm getting ready to level out the area where the pit is, put down gravel and pavers, then put the pit back, but until I do that, I moved the pit in front of the chairs. I had a pretty good fire going and some good music too, and from where I was sitting (the left-most chair), I could see the left speaker clearly, but the pit was in the way of the right speaker. I thought I was losing either the tweeter or the mid occasionally, so when I'd experience that I'd get up and walk over to the speaker and check out the tweeter & midrange. Sounded fine. Then I'd go sit back down and there it was again, occasional loss of highs / mids. It took me a while to figure out that it was the fire. Similar to fading caused by wind. Occasionally the fire drafting (I guess) would cause the highs and mids to be attenuated briefly. Anyone else ever observed this effect? New one on me, but hey, I learn something new every single day. code
  6. I just found the photo. Not my pins and not my hand.
  7. @Tony T You still looking for one of these?
  8. I have it already and love it. But... Not a Klipschorn. Not a La Scala. Not a Heresy.
  9. I saw these pins today and was thinking I would definitely buy a Klipschorn, La Scala, and Heresy pin if they were available. I don't know what a minimum order might look like, but could it be something that might make some money for the museum?
  10. Weber Chevrolet? C'mon now. Who's is this? That's a little close to home.
  11. Someday I would LOVE to do just that. I want to hear Jubes especially.
  12. Serious question, how much does she appreciate GREAT audio, and does she realize she has it right there?
  13. You're thinking of the UMG fire. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/25/magazine/universal-music-fire-bands-list-umg.html The vinyl-related fire was a lacquer manufacturing plant / warehouse. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/apollo-masters-fire-vinyl-records-lacquer-production-949648/
  14. Y’all hear about that big vinyl factory fire?
  15. I love the entire idea of the eKlipsch. Klipsch marketing needs to take note and plan something spectacular. I plan to be there!
  16. Mine is 18" x 24" x 6'. The 24" dimension is the variable one, wider gives you a flatter response according to Bill.
  17. This is FANTASTIC! I hope to visit someday.
