    Half time show

A long time ago, and maybe for only two seasons, the CFL did a home and home Total points championship. Now that was awesome. Come on NFL twice as much revenue! Two bad half time shows and two blowouts.

    Half time show

I washed dinner dishes at halftime, did I miss anything? Prince was the best ever! No one else would have gone out in that monsoon.
  3. I’ve had some embarrassing moments with appliances! Day before a big family thanksgiving dinner at our house because we have great double built in ovens ... Cleaners wiped the inside edge of top oven, unknown to us. Next day we go to preheat the oven for the turkey, nothing, noda, zip it won’t do anything including the display, lights and heat. Both ovens are out of commission. Check the breaker, it’s ok. We are near crazy. Somehow I opened the oven and ran my hand along recessed edge and touch a button, everything comes on... master switch I never knew about. Whew, disaster averted, just barely.

The Bucs can also study the 2018 AFC championship that NE won at Arrowhead stadium... oh, and the QB was TB12. Power run game to keep Mahomes on the bench, Double Hill with #2 CB and a Safety over top. Big safety or mobil LB on Kelce. #1 CB mono a mono vs KC #2 WR. Hit them all, hard at the line. D linemen must stay in their lanes to keep Mahomes in the pocket. Fournette and Jones must rush for well over 100 yards combined TB12 cannot make mistakes, INT Don’t fall behind in the score, no field goals, red zone efficiency for TDs Other than that, should be easy.
  5. Measure your ear height seated at listening position. Measure height of a Heresy cabinet to mid point of mid range horn. Subtract. That is the height of a four post stand you need to build. Posts on outer corners. Buy 10 inch, sealed front firing sub, put in bottom of four post stand. Place super Heresy on top. Spin a LP, fire up a Luxman R-117, crank volume from seated position using remote. Do not attempt to exceed 160 watts. Enjoy.
  6. Very nice work, thanks for the pics, gives me some thoughts... I like the brace work window pane. My wife is a lawyer... we all have our burdens.
  7. I have done the Y split to dedicated power amp (just a little chip amp) then to two Martin Logan LX16 as the Center channel, it worked just fine. You can move the two speakers around, mine were small so I actually tried them on their sides) to get the best dispersion. Two Heresy will take up some room!
  8. @garyclayton, the 2 channel receiver I use is a Luxman R-117 (vintage circa 1990) rated at 160 watts... old school as in Luxman R series tend to bench at about 1.3 times the rated watts. It has great sound and, 2 pre out to run my subs, so in two channel mode I can still have LF down to 18Hz. I run my TT through it also. I have purchased from Ayreborn Audio in Vancouver, no affiliation other than satisfied customer. They have good sales around the fall/winter holidays and from time to time on floor/demo models.
  9. @MookieStl, I just missed a PAIR of HIP on local Kijiji, the seller was in a band and wanted ... $50 Cdn. Missed them, they were gone in a flash. Dang. He had no idea what they were worth, and said Oh well, one of the cable ports on the back was broken and he used an alligator clip. Wow, ok, I can put in a binding post! About once per year in Calgary, someone posts a set of Heresy for $50 not knowing what they are. That's three sets I've missed by just a short time for a call. Oh well, I have 2 pair and wife might object to a 3rd set?
  10. @garyclayton, I've used a Denon x4300h in a room similar size, but with 4 x Heresy and 2 ten inch subs, so you should not have a problem if you buy an 8500! Where are you in Canada? Used market is pretty strong in some of our larger cities; Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary (a bit less). Once you close in on what you want, you could check for a demo or used unit best place is on Canada Audio Mart, buyer beware as always! Full disclosure, I am selling my Denon to go to a vintage receiver which will run front L/R and 2 channel music, and 3 channel power amp to provide 5.2 channel HT. Best wishes in your search.
  11. @dirtmudd thanks for the note, I had read that review and the vinyl engine and a phono cartridge review before buying. The fellow I bought from works on TT to help support his young family and did a great job, it is in very good condition. Steely Dan Gaucho was in the used LP section of local store. Not perfect but the LP s in great shape, with a serious couple of cleanings. That is one amazing sounding record. Also got used copy of Paul Simon Graceland.
  12. I did a similar test using 2 Martin Logan LX16 bookshelf speakers. Split the output from pre-amp to 2 channel power amp then to the speakers... since they are small, I could create physical separation and it was actually very good. I may go back to a similar setup some day.
  13. Steely Dan, Gaucho. On our simple, cheap Sony PS-T22, Audio Technica 3600 cart —-> Luxman R-117 —-> Cambridge Audio Aero 2 bookshelf speakers, dual Velodyne DD10. Nice sound, thank you Steely Dan.

    SCTV or SNL?

SCTV Brador and Philips Blue Buck if you're on the island mon!
  15. I hope BOb’s family sees these messages or at least knows how much he was respected and appreciated. A true gentleman and friend to Klipsch fans. Peace to Bob Crites and his family.
  16. @willland thanks for the note. That picture you provided is one I’ve reviewed, triple mono, copper chassis... looks good. I have owned Denon 1803, 2313 and 4300. They are all still running no problems. I’ve never owned the POA series so just want to be sure there isn’t some flaw I haven’t read about.
  17. I reviewed what I could find in the forum and elsewhere for first hand experience with a Denon POA-8300. If you have owned one I’d like to know their reliability, pros and cons and anything specific I should look for prior to purchasing one. I am considering purchasing one to be center, and surround speaker amp in HT ... speakers will be Heresy and not sure yet re. Center channel but a Klipsch horn based speaker, similar efficiency and 8 ohm load. Price seems good, I like the triple mono build, power should be sufficient. Room is 18 x 18 x 8. Front L/R amp is a Luxman R-117. thanks for any input.

There are a few teams looking up Taylor Heinicke’s home phone number this morning. That was a real performance. Bill Bellichick, pay attention please!

Barely, WFT played a heck of a game, especially that QB. Give him a chance at a full season someone!
  20. Just so’s y’all don’t think it’s restricted to the US... I paid for 2 day package delivery via Canada Post... Calgary to Victoria, buddy was happy to upsell the 2 day delivery. That was Dec15 (yes, my fault for waiting so long). 15 days later, tracking showed it had been scanned, 2 feet from where I gave it to them. I opened a lost item claim. C-post said they had attempted delivery, no answer at house in Victoria and they left a delivery notice. Hmmm, daughter and fiancé are in lockdown in the house and there was no notice. Package showed up 2 days later. Best part... when I checked the receipt for the tracking information, it said “Service Guarantees suspended”. Ok, I understand everyone is overloaded and hope the folks at C-post are safe, but why did buddy upsell me on a service that was suspended? I’m the idiot in this case! I have had two cases now with the same location maybe I need to go to a different one, bigger, more central. Lesson learned.
  21. I didn’t try to, just put in new holes as I covered the inside of the back panel fully with 1/8 inch neoprene, and I wanted to move the posts to bottom of the panel. I need to go back and fill the holes and repaint the outside of the panel for the 1980 set. I converted the 1984 to super Heresy which use a port, so I made a new back panel for those. i bought these from parts express... inexpensive but really solid. https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-bpa-38g-hd-binding-post-banana-jack-pair-gold--091-1245
  22. I put a 1/8 inch neoprene on the back hatch of both 1980 and 1984. 1984 are also lined with egg crate foam as they are super Heresy recipe. Do you still have the original terminal strips? I replaced mine with 5 way binding posts, much better!
  23. Not to be obsequious... I am hoping to complete combining HT and 2 channel marriage using newer technologies for video and multi channel modes, while connected to my Luxman R-117 which does 2 channel very well including 2 sub woofers. Adding six more channels that come close to the R-117 is the trick.
  24. To dodge all Parthian shots due to selecting gear I actually like.
