  1. Not sure how anyone can give a very good tube review before the tubes have had a chance to break in. Rolling tube after tube after tube seems like a waste unless you're giving them a chance to live.
  2. Heritage Klipsch were born for tubes.
  3. I'm rather partial to Prima Luna. https://www.upscaleaudio.com/collections/primaluna/products/primaluna-prologue-five-power-amplifier Here's a nice one for a good price.
  4. Absolutely. I also use a SYS to switch amps. The Loki's little 4-band tone control can tame horn fatigue.
  5. Spending more just means your have less. Believing that the more you spend guarantees 'highest quality with no compromises' is naive at best.
  6. Love mine in the La Scalas. Since I run a pair of Heresys adjacent to the La Scalas, I have a nice direct comparison between the two tweeters. Both sound great, just slightly different.
  7. Crossover went from 6k to 4.5.k Edit: I also missed the "I put in 3-4 years ago" part so I assumed he was installing them all at once. Sorry for the confusion. https://critesspeakers.com/bk-sound-type-a4500-crossov.html
  8. I did a similar upgrade to my '78 La Scalas. You will notice a more laid-back presentation as the squawker isn't going to try and reach up as high now.
  9. My La Scalas prefer a lower wattage setup. I dumped the high power SS stuff in favor of a SEP tube amp with a not so punishing 13 watts/channel. I'd call Bob and swap out the cooked woofer and like everyone recommends, check your amp!
  10. I revoiced my La Scalas with his C-120 tweeters, K-55G squawker and A/4500 networks. They sound the best they ever have.A nice 40 year freshen up and I expect to get another 40 if I live that long!
  11. Agreed that 40-plus year-old oil caps are probably in need of replacement. I did the Crites AA kit to my '78 La Scalas about 10 years ago. The HD/BR's I acquired a few years ago were kept behind a screen and rarely ever got played. They still sound nice and fresh to me. This summer, I revamped the La Scalas with new Crites AS/4500 networks and replaced both the tweeter and squawker with the Crites goodies and now the big boxes compliment the Heresy when played together quite nicely. Gotta love these birch boxes!
  12. NW Bradford sure tested a heck of a lot of Klipsch speakers!
  13. A roomate of mine had one and it almost sounded as good as my much less powerful Pioneer SX-737.
  14. Welcome to the club sir. I wish you the best of luck finding your ideal Klipsch speakers!
  15. I'll bet you built mine too HDBR. My little fellas are vintage 1978 and they are true HD/BR that someone sealed with varnish before I got them. They are unmolested and I just put some risers I got from Bob Crites. They look cool next to my LS/BR's.
  16. Those Belles were up this morning. They looked pretty stuffed though. Water damaged and who knows what else is wrong. https://nh.craigslist.org/ele/d/klipsch-bell-speaker-system/6705944619.html
  17. I've got too much Crites in my La Scalas to part with them now.
  18. Stylish looking gear for sure. I like their naming conventions.
  19. Thanks Dave. I'll keep my eye out for it. 👍
