ivanhurd
I really like watching Hellboy 2. It's in 7.1 and uses every speaker to the fullest. Another good one is The Dark Knight. One time I fell asleep watching it, and when I woke up I remember saying to my wife, "this movie has really good sound." It won an Oscar for best achievement in sound editing and was nominated for best achievement in sound mixing. I also really like the LOTR series for sound. edit: Transformers series is always good too.

javelin
Seriously, no ICE AGE, first movie? Those cracking ice and ice columns slamming againts each other should test your highs and lows. Polar Express? Ever heard a train comming on a hard stop or skidding on ice? Mr. & Mrs. Smith - gotta love the destruction of the house and the fight scene in the big box store Serenity - if you have 7.1, you'll think someone upstairs are throwing dishes on the floor Sucker Punch - if not for the ears, please do it for your eyes The Gauntlet - bullets, bullets, bullets!!!! ivanhurd
I would say anything from Lucasfilm should be good sound too. They get down on Skywalker Ranch with the audio.

shake777
Tron: It took me a while to get used to the visual special effects and then I realized what was making me watch it over and over again was the discrete audio coming out of each of the seven speakers. This, my favorite 7.1 audio has got a good runner up in Pirates On Stranger Tides. My projector is just fine but I sunk a lot more money into my audiot system because I'm a lover of sound. holtrp
I like Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City Music Hall on BD using the Dolby True HD. The mix is absolutely phenomenal and I think the set list is the best Dave & Tim show you could hope for. As for video, this disc also has some pretty fantastic black levels and is worth checking out. It gets rave reviews over at blu-ray.com. I ended up using this disc when checking out TV's a few years ago before I bought. Honorable mention goes to Star Wars Blu-Ray, Saving Private Ryan Blu-Ray and War Of The Worlds Blu-Ray. As for video, this disc also has some pretty fantastic black levels and is worth checking out. I can't agree more. I have yet to see/hear a better concert BD or DVD that even compares. This is my reference disc every time I do a demo for anyone. It is my reference for video and sound(uncompressed 2.2 and Dolby True HD 5.2) over any BD movie or CD. The imaging and soundstage is second to none with Tim's guitar dominating the left front tower and Dave's guitar on the right side with his vocals spread across the entire front soundstage but mostly from the center channel. Moderators Youthman Posted May 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted May 9, 2012 I just wish they had some form of percussion in the video, even if it was a congo or bongo drum. But it's still a great disk.
