Moderators dtel Posted March 15, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 15, 2012 Almost anything that does not have women crying, talking about relationships or just with other women for more than 15 seconds, unless some clothes are missing and there is an explosion or gunfire shortly after, almost forgot little or no female type drama, or talking about dating, or............well you get the idea. Are you talking about in life or just the movies:) Both, married 33 years and 3 daughters, 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons. So I don't like to hear more of those things than I have to, been there enough. [:|] And to watch it in a movie, no thanks, I would rather watch something with at least a somewhat lively soundtrack. K5SS
Tron, Master and Commander and How to Train Your Dragon. My LFE's and subs go crazy during those three movies.

sunburnwilly
I can wear out all but the most grizzled folk with the beach scene on Saving Private Ryan . Lot's of cool stuff out there but that is 15 minutes of pure hell ...
Cal Blacksmith
Sisterhood of the traveling pants.... SORRY I JUST HAD TO DO THAT!![] The opening of "flight of the phenox" remake is awesome when the transport plane flys from behind you then over the top of you and lands infront of you, plenty of LFE too with the props and engine noise. Toy story is always good for a famly style demo Avatar has some great shots
Moderators dtel Posted March 16, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2012 Toy story is always good for a famly style demo Almost any Pixar movie has some good sound. A movie with some good sounding music in it is Burlesque, well recorded, the Bluray is much better than the DVD.

RichardP
Have we already forgotten about Lord of the Rings? In the first one, Fellowship of the Ring, when they encounter the river creature as they try to get entry into the Mines of Moria, lots of thundering loudness. A few minutes later when they stir up the orcs (when the skull drops into the well, and battle afterwards) is very good. Not only does it contain very loud and low passages, but other sounds utilize the surrounds just beautifully.
CECAA850
Pearl Harbor is a good one too. Most of the Harry Potter movies have very good sound tracks.

Sticking with movies that have great music, Ray is hard to beat, sometimes I watch the movie only for the music. Man in black is great too. themrclean
I have all three Matrix movies on blu-ray and each one has some great moments for both LFE and surround enjoyment.
Quiet_Hollow
Dances With Wolves, the extended version on Blu-ray is a great all-rounder. Not a hint of CG, that powerful symphony music, natural sounds, and those wide outdoor shots really show off what HD can do.
psg
Tron for all-out LFE. Burlesque for music with very strong drums. House of Flying Daggers, scene where beans bounce on drums around the room for surround (and amazing soundof the drums)

blargman
I second Master and Commander. I'd never seen the movie. I watched it last night. Sounded beautiful on my setup. I only wish I had surrounds.
JasonJCarney
There is a guy on AVS forum that sells a BD compilation disk. It has 3 menu's 1 each for LFE, surround, and visual. There are like 10 or so movies clips in each section. Very cool for showing off your system.
blargman
For the uninitiated, here is the link to it. http://larchive.avsforum.com/www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1283375 It's a bunch of clips, I'm not sure of the legality of the disc :\ There is a mediafire link with the torrent for the bluray image. There is also this newer thread it appears. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1391873 Thank you JasonJCarney
