LarryC
I'm still amazed by how detailed it is for a "bargain" lens at 300mm What lens is it? I want to get a 300 mm this year.

joessportster
Grainy... Do you know the ISO you used on this, Ive been trying to learn more about night shooting, from reading I was lead to believe higher ISO would improve night shots, Upon further reading Iv'e found too high an ISO setting introduces grain. I ordered my first tripod today and hope to get outside for some experimentation soon. Joe Edited February 15, 2014 by joessportster
mungkiman
The camera is Canon G10. If I'm looking at the right setting, ISO was 1600. Low light, "long" exposure, and no tripod.

I ordered my first tripod today and hope to get outside for some experimentation soon. From what I found your right, now I try to keep the iso as low as possible and just use longer shutter speeds where possible and set the timer so your not touching the camera to take the pic, depending on the camera there are other ways to do that also. First tripod, your going to have fun ! Experiment with many settings and you will find out quick what you like and dislike. Night and low light are my favorites. My problem with any of these f/5.6 (@300 mm) lenses is the viewfinder is a little dark for me Edited February 15, 2014 by LarryC

mungkiman
Grainy... But for no tripod, you must be a rock. Just worked out that way. Had to take 15 or so photos for 1 to look that "good". Should probably invest in a tripod...
