I'm going with Buddy Holly. He was only 22, but had a whole bunch of hits already. His music is everywhere, even today. Imagine what he could've accomplished.

country dick Montana of the beat farmers....heart attack on stage.

This made me think of a great comedian, Tommy Cooper, died on stage while everybody horse laughed thinking it was part of the skit. What a way for a comedian to go.

Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper died in the same plane crash.  Ricky Nelson also died in a plane crash.

I guess the most depressing would be roy buchanon and danny gatton. I believe they both hung themselves while in jail....what a waste!

permanent solution to a temporary problem.

roy....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swX9oq6TVAU

danny gatton.shot himself in his garage - depression got to him - roy buchanon was found hung in a cell after a petty arrest - the family disputes the suicide theory

Roy Buchanan...I knew he died in the late 80s but not how. One of my hero's when I was a kid in the 70s. When I heard My Babe, and Hey Joe I was hooked.

One of the most tragic to me was the loss of Rory Gallagher. Mostly appreciated by real blues lovers and musicians but his place in history is solid.

Hard to believe no one has mentioned Hendrix yet.

his sound was very psychedelic - hendrix was very talented- maybe a bit too much for the average person - a different era as well - the true hippie -

That was my vote also.

And again.

I think that his death affected me more because I attended that last show. Got home at 2AM, went to bed, and woke to the news. Just pure shock.
