Paducah Home Theater
Loving these. Can't get my lighting very good but they look hella nice in person. Real walnut veneer! Huge upgrade with that alone in my opinion. Edited September 24, 2015 by MetropolisLakeOutfitters

Nismo
If I ever had the need or desire to change my RF-7's... I would easily bring home the 280FA. I would love to have a A/B comparison with the elevation speaker on the 280FA & the 140SA.

Jay L
You can tuck the tab under the grille without issue if you so desire.

Gorm
So, are these real walnut? Or is it more of the OAK with walnut stain like the RF-7 IIs have been getting lately?
Paducah Home Theater
So, are these real walnut? Or is it more of the OAK with walnut stain like the RF-7 IIs have been getting lately? Dunno, I assumed it was walnut wood because I have a walnut guitar and the grain is similar enough to not raise any eyebrows like it would if they were made of ash. All I know is that it's a hell of a lot nicer than the normal reference premiere stuff. But yeah the description is kind of carefully worded to leave the possibility for stained oak open... "real wood black walnut or natural walnut finish".

That's not oak in the photos above. I am almost certain of that. Neither is this. Bill

This guitar is what real walnut looks like in its natural state. Significantly different color but the grain and swirls are very similar. You can tell there's no stain on the guitar because of how the maple looks, it was all finished at the same time, a friend of mine built it by hand from a local walnut tree and some pretty high grade flamy maple. Whatever it is, I don't think it is natural walnut color, it's stained to some extent. My guitar is a little tighter grain as well but on much of it the grain structure is similar, there are these enlongated pits of sorts that is not present in paint grade wood suck as pine, maple, and poplar. Schu
I've seen all kinds of walnut... ^ neither is bad. here is another version since you broke out the guitar reference... Martin "Goerge Nakashima" signature model. I had one of these for a while, stunning Claro Walnut. Edited September 25, 2015 by Schu
Paducah Home Theater
Closeup of the grain on the walnut guitar vs. the 280. I don't know if there is a real difference, all I know is that it looks nice. Edited September 25, 2015 by MetropolisLakeOutfitters
