ELMarko
A 2k system than a Scott 222C pushing a pair of Heresy with a SVS 25-31 sub with a Marantz CD player...unbelievable. the best value you could ever find. I still say the Heresy is the best speaker ever made at it's price point. .
Moderators dtel Posted February 20, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 20, 2016 I bet a Scott with Heresy's and a sub does sound good, glad your happy, that's the most important thing. With all the combinations possible it's great to find something that just matches well.
The Dude
I couldn't agree more, I have a Scott 222c with Heresies in a 10x10 room no sub and it has got to be one of the best sub 2k systems I have ever heard.
jimjimbo
How do you go about hooking up the sub to the Scott?
mustang guy
Tubes seem to bring out the low end and dynamics on Heritage stuff. I've also noticed that big old receivers with big amps bring them to life pretty well. I'm not sure why exactly. Perhaps there is somebody who can shed some light on that.
Quiet_Hollow
Bottoms up to a great sounding combination!
NOSValves
You'll be hard pressed to beat it in all areas for less then 3K especial if you keep the Heresy. Those speakers flat out work with vintage integrated tube amps. The sub is not absolutely required but can be helpful with certain music. ELMarko
The 222c (and I would imagine most other Scott's from that era) has a center channel rca out that can be used to feed the sub amp (how convenient). and Craig, you did the refurb on my baby a few years ago, still sounding superb. Pete H
How do you go about hooking up the sub to the Scott? You can use the tape outs too if it doesn't have pre outs. And when you are ready, an "Upgrade" can be handled by the experts here.
oldtimer
Just for grins, I would say forte IIs instead of heresies would cost about the same and sound better.
Dr Morbius
If you got the room, used Cornwalls are superb! ……. (if they are in good shape).

ELMarko
Oldtimer...funny you mentioned Forte. .I have a pair of Forte's that I used instead of the Heresy's. I prefer the Heresy, maybe it's just me. And the Forte has the Crites updated xover and midrange diaphragm.
oldtimer
I mentioned the forte II's because of the tractrix midrange for the most part. I also meant stock since I have not heard any with upgrades.
ELMarko
Understood, never heard the Forte 2's, maybe the updated midrange would help. But it just seems my Forte's have a blanket over them compared to the Heresy.

But it just seems my Forte's have a blanket over them compared to the Heresy. I had the Forte IIs with the Crites upgrades and found that in a bigger room say larger than roughly 20 x 20 or so the Forte opened up and was exceptional. In a small room I found the Heresy to be more open and clear. Getting the Forte IIs off the wall the right amount helped a great deal so a small room just wasn't practical. oldtimer
It's cool you have what you like going for you. Your fortes however should not sound like a blanket over them compared to heresies. Something is amiss. Fortes and the IIs are however placement sensitive. It could be as simple as that.
ELMarko
Probably, I'm using the Forte in a 5.1 room and they work well there. I grew up on Heresy's and maybe I'm just partial to them. It's all good.
