Whether that applies to a jet engine or not, I have no idea, but I'm not sure what else could require break in on a plane. Jet engines have rotating seals. Leakage increases for a while and then steadies out. They are designed to run correctly with the steady state leakage. Manufacturers carefully break them in before shipment. But it doesn’t take long.
