I thought a fisher was bird, then couldn't figure how it could do what you said,...........so I looked up Fisher, and was quite surprised, looks like a miniature bear.

Is this what your talking about ?  :o

Rare! only the second one i have ever seen its making a den in my back yard! Better keep the dog close to the house. It growled at me! These beasts can kill a Lynx, and love Porcupine!!!

Where do you live?  The groundhog in my yard seems trivial by comparison.

I live in the St Croix valley in MN, now if i could see a  real bear! ive seen two cubs running up my hill, they are fast!  Saw the back of a large one that knocked my garbage can over but the Roman candle i deployed wasnt bright enough to see in the dark.

Your dog better not pee on it....lest he get a nasty bite!!

Thats funny! I have the weirdest dog hes a standard poodle bread for hunting, fast as can be alerts and chases everything thing that moves. Breeder had Labs but found this breed was much easier to train for birding.....Sadly mines is not very bright, but loves my family and is kind as can be.... He tries to befriend every animal he sees,  The Fisher might bite his parts off....

cute little mammal  ----it would not attack a dog -nor kill a Lynx ,  this is a Myth that led to  the Fisher being almost extinct due to over hunting  , the very good news is , the Fisher preys on rodents  -

RandyHoo, there are documented cases of large male Fishers killing Lynxes. There was an extensive  long study that was done in Maine, they like their throats!

Saw a mink run across the back yard a few years ago. For the next few days something was killing my rabbits and only eating the throats
