James RD
Dean, what is a mute point? Is that the one you are unable to make? God, I'm annoying.
Deang
Shinall won't ship without costing an arm and two legs, and Texas is a long drive. James, you're not annoying, just confused.
mark1101
Actually, it was never a real priority of mine to have the nicest looking cabinets. It is definitely a priority to have the real thing for posterity and resale and have it perform as well as it can. I would rather have an ugly old pair of real Khorns than a beautiful brand new pair of imitations. That's just me. Everytime I buy a new pair of Klipsch I sweat it out as I take the backs off hoping that they are all original. That was always an exciting moment for me when everything verified and they played well.
TheEvan
Dang, I just googled shinall. How the heck they get away with that?
Deang
Notice they don't show you pictures of the backs where the horn and networks can be seen.
mark1101
Mr. Shinall will send pictures of every possible angle and open partially built cabinets to prove his work. I have them all, and especilly of the Belle copy as well. It's really nice stuff. I'm not defending the guy but from my conversations with him and information exchange, he's not hiding anything and seems like a nice honest man. I just didn't buy his product. He's got some nice networks as well.
triode
Maybe Trey will tell us if you can position the Jubliee Bass Bins next to the Wall or how much space they require behind them to operate properly? Inquiring minds want to know.
Seadog
"This Shinall looks like a great deal! -- Maybe they'll make some Jublilee like Speakers too!" There is no "they", just one man building the Shinall speakers. Although his corner horn sounds very much like the K-horn, he is certainly no threat to Klipsch. J.4knee
Interesting we are debating the merits of building and maybe selling the all time flagship of the Klipsch line on the Klipsch web site. Am I the only one who sees the irony in that?
3dzapper
"What is needed?... The existing unit in the photo seems to be a CNC'ed piece of laminated hardwood." Dean, who has been very diligent on this, said that the ptoblem with the wood Jubilee horn has been cracking. Perhaps the use of a multi-laminate such as used on rifle stocks properly machined would work. That material is incredibly strong and impervious to the elements. It is made from 1/8" or thinner (to 0.025") layers of wood built up with waterproof adhesive. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/laminate.jpg

Klipsch Employees Trey Cannon Posted March 24, 2005 Klipsch Employees Share Posted March 24, 2005 The Jubliee is a fee standing cabinet...place it where you want...just like any speaker, you will ge a 6-10db gain by placing it in the corner.
