"Oh, yes that is what I was thinking. I lived in Brussels for two years and loved Duvel. How about a little Kreik"

The wife loves lambics (and I can appreciate them too) but I don't love the price. [:(]

I can appreciate the Reinheitsgebot as much as the next guy, but I love the fact those crazy Belgians will put anything in thier beer.

"25 replies and noboby else is ready for a Guinness?"

I though I covered that on page 1 and the bottle w/Nitrogen Insert thingy.[:D]

I actually brew my own (all-grain) brews, and have 2 kegs full in my fridge at the moment. A blonde and a pale.

That being said, my current faves are Schlafly's Summer Kolsch and Schlafly's Raspberry Hefeweizen.

Schlafly's (St. Louis Brewery) is one of the best micros in the area,

and has the cojones to stand up to AB here in St. Louis (no small feat,

AB likes to crush small micros).

Favorites change but Molsen Golden and Moosehead are always near the

top of my list. Can you still get Labatts Velvet Cream in

Canada? I haven't seen it for some time.

One of the best beer tasting experiences is at the Coors brewery tour

tasting lounge. I went to college in Golden, Colorado and the

Coors brewery would let students take what came to be known as "short

tours" on Friday afternoons. We'd just show up and ask for a

"short tour" and go straight to the tasting lounge. They'd let us

stay on for a few as long we didn't get out of hand. It was a

cheap way to preload on Friday afternoons. That brand new cold

cold Coors beer at the brewery was sublime - it was the beer that I was

weaned on. I've toured other breweries in the US and Europe and

the beer is always incredible in the tasting lounges - it's worth

taking any long tour.

Guiness is my top choice. Tasty, smooth and never a hang over. :)

Good old Yeungling Lager, which used to be dirt cheap before it became so popular.

Hop Devil, Becks, Bittburger (good, cheap German beer), Straub.

Really liked Molson Export Ale but I can't find it in Pennsylvania any longer.

McEwans Scotch Ale is also very pleasing, but very, very heavy. The one beer to have if you're only having one.

I am extremely fond of Belhaven Scottish Ale. I highly recommend it for you Newcastle/Bass aficionados who want to try something slightly different. It has a slight nutty taste. It isn't as sweet as McEwans (sp) but VERY tasty.

The only brew that is better IMHO, is a home-brewed raspberry ale made with Malt, real raspberries and Muntons "Connoisseurs Range, Nut Brown Ale." [;)]

OK, I've got a few.........

Fat Tire Amber Ale (New Belgium Brewing Co.)

Red Tail Ale (Mendocino Brewing Co.)

Boont Amber Ale (Anderson Valley)

Terminator Stout (McMeniman's breweries in OR) - try it NITRO at the pubs [:P]

I never look for an American lager anymore..........but I'll still drink 'em, if that's what's available[:D]

That's the beauty of micro brewer's ...so much beer and so little

time! We have a local BBQ and micro brew which is

quite nice, but there are so many others across this country, I'll

never have the pleasure to meet! Not long ago I went on a

dive trip where I brought along some home brew. After the dive the

group had a few. One guy told me as much as he enjoyed the home brew,

he just had to have a Heineken. So he went down to the hotel bar and

got one. He then came back up to our room and told every one he

didn't know what it was but after drinking the home brew the Heineken

"tasted like ****".

I'll say this about brewing your own, you can drink a ton of it

w/o feeling it the next day. Then there's MEAD! True nectar

of the gods!!!
