flannj
Who is/was the best NFL QB. Follow the thread. It's not about who you like or where you live. Dan Marino is my favorite, but I couldn't say he was/is the best. I wish he was, but that doesn't count. I'm staying with Joe Montana! It's not about who I like or where I live (at least in terms of my favorite team). The most respect comes from those that root against you. arfandbark
Brett Favre has some impressive stats, flannj. I didn't know he rated that well. I still don't think he played the last two minutes better than Joe Montana. Nor did anyone else, in my mind. But that's a matter of opinion. I guess I am showing favoritism. Thank you for the statistics. Some good names in there.
Tom Adams
And let's not forget that the Montana's and Marino's and Stablers, etc. didn't play in an era where inside defensive linemen and linebackers can out sprint most running backs and wide recievers. Point being is that it's almost apples and oranges in that we'd nevr really know how well Tarkenton could scramble against a 4.4 linebacker. My vote is totally prejudice since I'm a distant cousin to the dude, but my vote goes to Brett Farve. [Y] Tom
jacksonbart
I am sticking with Fran Tarkenton primarily for the work he did on "That's Incredible!"
oldbuckster
What NO Jeff George Fans .................... Hollywood Vince Ferragammo (I think that's how it's spelled) .......... Dave Brown ......... I get your point Tom, but those old guys called their own plays, the Quarterbacks weren't as Protected as they are now, and the shorter schedule made the games even more important. I'm not sure the game of Football is better today with all the rule changes, but I like it ...........................

jcmusic
I think Joe Montana was the greatest, because of his ability to win the big game. The more pressure the better he played plain and simple. Jay
oldtimer
There have been many greats, going way back, making it hard to choose. It's even harder than baseball because the game has seen so many rule changes that the different eras really are different. My personal favorite has to be Kenny "Snake" Stabler, based on leadership and grit, and he won the Raider's first nfl championship. Besides, out of all the guys mentioned, with the exception of maybe Farve, he would be the one quarterback I would want on my side in a bar fight. Timmikid
Hi guys! I know it's a completelt different game (the Dutch suck at both, Americans at one), but the world championship final rugby is coming Saturday. England-South Afrika It has been a great tournament sofar. Could be fun to watch if it's on the tele somewhere!? FWIW, I only watch the Superbowl if I get the chance and know hardly anything about it. Greetings, Tim.
stan krajewski
I rooted against him every time. Always hoping they would sack his butt. Never liked the SF 49ers. Not the greatest thrower or the best scrambler but always found some way to get the job done. Joe Montana.
bluesboy
You know if Warren Moon had played his whole career in the NFL instead of several seasons in Canada he could have owned most of the passing records today.
jacksonbart
You know if Warren Moon had played his whole career in the NFL instead of several seasons in Canada he could have owned most of the passing records today. Very true. He had to fight a lot of racial stereo types. We was a great QB. Ever imagine if the Pats had him as opposed to Brady? WOW!!! 4 SBs in a row. SCOOTERDOG
No question some great QB's But I would have to say Joe Montana. I first started following him when he was with Notre Dame. Never forget the cotton bowl game where he score 34 points in a qtr and a half freakin unreal. I would also like to throw in Otto Graham. Outstanding QB for the old Browns. Hmmm who did Bill Walsh consider as one of his best mentors. Makes you realize what he saw in Joe. Scooter

Deang
Well, having a great O-line, running backs, and incredible receivers helps a bit, ya think? To be the best, you have to be able to take a shot to the face, shake off a concussion, wipe the blood off, get back into the huddle -- and throw a TD pass on the next play. It's a toss up between JU and Favre.
