    • I guess it really depends on the prices for the new AL6 and the AL5-to-AL6 upgrade package.  I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for pricing to be announced.  I'm convinced the active AL6 is a significant step forward, but pricing determines what happens.  Lots of scenarios.    If the AL6 comes out close to, or a tad up from, the AL5 MSRP, interest in AL5's on the secondary market could jump, assuming: (the upgrade kit + AL5's) < AL6's.  However, if the upgrade kit is priced on the high side (where there's not much difference between brand new AL6's and upgraded AL5's), it would probably knock-down the secondary value of AL5's and encourage just going for brand new AL6's.  It's even possible people upgrading AL5's could have more total investment in their speakers than people who buy the AL6's to start with.  It depends.   Of course, it's also possible we get very high priced AL6's and a high priced upgrade kit, to an extent where buyers are hesitant to buy new AL6's OR to upgrade AL5's.  In that case you may have people keeping their wallets shut and saying yes the AL6's are nice, but the AL5's are "good enough".  In that case AL5s would hold their value.  If we get a reasonably priced AL6 and a high priced upgrade kit then AL5 secondary value drops.  Interesting times!

    • Hi MOREpower, I was only referring to that particular single for sale in Boston as being overpriced.  The seller is asking $550, and to my eyes it's kind of a "beater".  I really don't know what price range to recommend for a nice single.  It's all based on what YOU'RE willing to pay and I would think finding a single is quite rare.  And decorator versions are rare as well.  I would think WA state might be a tough market as far as inventory, but I don't know.  Maybe Seattle is fertile Klipsch ground?   I lived in the SF Bay Area for many years and Cornwalls (in pairs) would come up fairly often.  I bought a pristine  pair in Walnut for $700, but that was well over 10 years ago.  Prices have gone up a LOT since the pandemic.  I have a really nice pair of CII's in Oak now (bought in New England), and felt I got a good deal at $1600.  Don't see them come up here (at least on Craigslist) very often.   Happy Hunting!
    • Must have missed the part stating that the Cornwalls used A for 1963, and B for 1964, and that the first one used 3A09, same four-place serial number as mine has---had I seen that it would have helped, don't know how I missed it, thanks!  By the way, as I'm missing this as well, but how do the numerals in the serial number 3A09 indicate it as being shipped in August? And, even better, what would that make mine, being 3B50?  Thanks for the help!
    • Thanks gents!  The pair also has water damage on the front, lower left corner (both speakers).  Too much to deal with...
    • Thanks.  Saw that the "B" designated 1964, but as I saw nothing that matched Cornwalls to any serial numbers actually using a letter, that is with just a four place xBxx format, just wasn't sure...thanks! Would like to pick up another, but unfortunately Boston is a bit far for me here in WA state, but out of curiosity, what do you consider overpriced? Kind of curious as to just what I might be looking at in picking up another.
