  1. Ok again NOT a great pic but plenty of coincidences for me. This pic is of old friends at there 35 wedding anniversary last January, we had not seen them for years and happen to see them at my mothers funeral. We were invited to the party and I didn't realize when i took the pic but the pic on the table is one I had taken at the wedding 35 years earlier. Also at that wedding my friend introduced me to his cousin and a year later we were married and still are. Since this pic was taken my friend passed away, he was in the wheelchair for the last few years paralyzed from a accident at work where he was crushed by something falling from a crane, a freak accident. I just happen to be looking at the pics and thought i would put it here.

  3. Euphonic sound IS accurate sound. Maybe some of you have forgotten what real music sounds like, along with the emotions good sound provokes. Engineers listen through mixing monitors or headphones, and of course you're always at the mercy of their hearing, what's left of it. I have no interest in hearing what those clowns hear, for crying out loud, listen to the quality of the crap their putting out. I don't know why distortion signatures are being discussed. As long as the amp isn't run into the clipping, the distortion signature is of relatively low consequence. I'm not sure if there is anything I haven't tried. I'm going back to tubes for 2-channel because it sounds better. That's really all I've ever been interested in -- better sound. This is supposed to be an experience that brings enjoyment and pleasure. All of you guys who want "accurate", which basically means sterile, thin, flat, and makes you wince and grit your teeth -- can have it!

  4. Hi Guys. This is my first post, so I appreciate the input in advance. I'm building a 24X18X10 dedicated media room, (4320 cubic feet) and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the power requirements for the THX Ultra 2 speaker system for this kind of space. I don't want to go too crazy, but I'm thinking the 150wpc or so of most integrated AVRs just isn't going to cut it. Also wondering if the dual sub setup in the system is enough, or whether I should double up and have 4 subs in the room. i will be building a baffle wall, and adding sound panels to the walls if that helps your opinion. These are the pieces I'm looking at. (3) KL-650-THX Bookshelf Speaker (2) KL-525-THX Bookshelf Speaker (2) KW-120-THX Subwoofer (1) KS-525-THX Surround Speakers (pair) (1) KA-1000-THX Amplifier Thanks

  5. I am pretty impressed with the sound of the Heresy III's. I been wanting some heresy's for a bedroom system for a while. I've watched for some minty ones to become available, but all the ones I've been seeing are not mutch less than new ones--so I just pulled the trigger on some new ones. I received a pretty good a$$ chewin from my wife, but after listening to them all night last night and today, she has decided that they are hers. She now claims the h-III's and rf-7 II's (the new ones are hers and the old ones are mine). I have only heard one set of older heresy's that a buddy has--it's been a while since I've heard his, so I can't really compare to the h-III's. To my ears they have a really sweet sound. I'm not running a sub right now--and probably won't. I've got them in corners, and the base sounds pretty good. I'm am very pleased with them.

  7. Those are nice. Bought some cherry ones last year and they are definitely keepers. What finish is that? Did you order them online or buy them from a local dealer?

  8. I wish. The heresy's are likely the only new heritage klipsch's I'll be getting any time soon.

  9. Don't let your wife listen to The Cornwalls, or you'll be getting them too!

  12. I own several binaural recordings from chesky records they are fun, but the soundstage still stays in your head, I guess i will get used to it in time. I have found there are things about the headphones i love over a good speaker setup headphones allow me to hear deeper into the music, I can hear things I've never been able to hear on any speaker (this may be my hearing, but I would bet this would be true of anyone to one degree or another) Headphones allow for a personal listening experience (I dont have the wife making faces or saying turn that down please, I dont have to hear the wifes comments about some music (ie.... Tom Waits......."He sounds like hes dyeing" SACRILEGE) headphones are lighter and easier to move than K-Horns

  13. Arkansas Klipsch Gathering 2004. A dozen people agreed that my modified RF-7 networks made a pretty big difference. Before we started, not a single person believed they would hear a difference worth talking about. I replaced the stock components with Kimber capacitors and Mills non-inductive resistors. Trey Cannon of Klipsch wanted to know what I did "to get rid of the ringing". A couple thought I actually put in a different network design. I did/do drop a resistor value in the LCR by .34 ohms. Testing at Klipsch showed a reduction in output of 1.5dB at 3.5kHz, which Trey believed was the thing that was responsible for removing the known (to Klipsch) ringing problem. I went home and put in the stock value, and the only thing I heard was some slightly elevated midrange output. There was no "ringing", and the clean, wide open great sound was still there. It's simply amazing what a handful of "expensive components" can do for a crossover -- just ask anyone that was there. Hey, maybe there's some whacky relationship between cost and performance? https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/40764-last-call-arkansas-gathering-this-saturday-may-8th/?hl=arkansas

  14. Try to put the 6504's on the outside of the arched windows. You do not want them that close together, especially with the pop out for the fireplace between them. You can paint the grills to blend in to the walls, right? BTW, Nice room.

  15. About that first video, little known fact, it was originally the "Fantastic Five" before they became the "Fantastic Four". In the end "Owl-Man" left the group of crime fighters to follow his dream of wearing his superhero costume while playing a white piano on stage.

  16. See if you can reach a deal on the phone and send or leave a deposit. Those are very clean and worth the asking price if they sound as good as they look. I doubt they will last a week, Best regards, John

  20. I love the KPT 12 VBs. I have set up Lascalas as surrounds temporarily, and I much prefer the VBs for movie effects. For 5 channel music (I mean 5.1 studio mixes not concert films) I will say the Lascalas were my choice but not by enough that I could deal with them being in the way all the time. There would be no way to incorporate them into my room that would look OK to me either. As Far as the Woofer being the same as the Heresy iii I don't know Klipsch lists the VB as using a KP-281 EP which could be the same for all I know but they also spec the VB as handling 400 watts continuous and 1600 peak which I am sure would fry a Heresy in short order.

  22. That's more a product of the finish than the MDF. Raw MDF does NOT do well even with a small amount of water, you're correct. You're also correct about wood products from Lowes. I'll buy fencing products from them but that's about it as far as it goes wood wise.

  23. There's different grades of MDF as well. Cabinet grade is pretty tough is very durable and has an extremely hard surface. MDF from Lowes for example is much softer and flakes easily. When I get MDF, I always get it from a cabinet shop. I guess the moral of this story is whatever you use, don't get it from Lowes.

  24. What's his name, Fred Klipsch? I'll blame him. Klipsch went with some el cheapo parts in the extended Heritage series.
