  1. I emailed this lady on a dating site yesterday and didn't get a reply. About 6:30 I went to the Satellite to hear some bluegrass music and she walks in at around 7:00. Never good to approach and single out one lady in a group but I did. She was pleasant and said she would come talk with me shortly. Well she came over to the bar and we talked......for about the next two hours. Walked her to her car and hugged goodbye. A smart (geneticist), artsy (clay and metal) sweetie that holds potential. She is 57 and looks 42. She emailed me this morning! Ain't it fun.....dating at 65 Cheers Gents

  6. To the OP: Welcome to the forum. Without a doubt go with the RF-62ii. Much more refined speaker with high quality components. To Klipsch and fellow community members: Another fine example of how having all of these reference lines is going to confuse the everyday consumer. It's a mistake, and they need to fix it quickly. Thanx! for the quick reaction!

  8. Your the only one that publicly recognized Mrs. Olsen... I like her older photos even more. Instilled confidence into my caffeine shaky hands. Doctor had shaky hands. Asked him if he needed a drink first or coffee? Neither he said, just saw a Folger's commercial. Thanks for the hoot!

  9. You really need to listen to an amplifier hooked up to your speakers to make an informed choice. The type of music and listening levels are very important as well as your room's size. For example, a 5 watt amp is not the best choice if you like loud rock music.

  11. Specked it's time to get movin, likely just go to home depot and pick up a stove, sounds easier than shopping. Cables and connectors coming in every day for the next three days. Maybe going active by the weekend. Had to order yet another 100' of Knuconect speaker wire yesterday, that means two runs to each stack.

  14. When I was shopping for a new system 20yrs ago, my Bose-owning friend went with me to audition speakers. He had the salesman put up the Bose first, then Advent, JBL and a few others until the last speakers we heard were Klipsch Epics. We both agreed the Epics blew everything else away and that is what I bought. Best part of the story: He ditched his Bose a couple years later and bought some KG's, so not all Bose fans are without hope.

  17. My parents are roller skating rink operators and they are getting out of the business. We are selling all of our speakers, which are made by yours truly, Klipsch. We have 6 Lascalas and 2 MCMS. All are in great working condition!! No visible wear and tear on the casings of the speakers, just a bit of dust. We would like $7000.00. We are able to deliver, if close by or we would hire a trucking company. If you prefer a trucking company, the shipping price would be paid by you and if we can deliver for you, we will just add a flat rate of $300, as long as you are within 70 miles of the zip code 13021. If you would like more pictures, please let me know!!! Always Willing to Negotiate!!! Thanks!! Email: mafmusic12@yahoo.com Phone Number: 315-567-6868

  18. A change every 2-3 hours? Seems like a lot but it's been 16 years since we had a new born so my memory is a little hazy. Oh yeah, easily. And it's much better for the baby in many ways, at least for a few weeks. First 6 months exclusively, if possible, yield the best results. The 1st born went a full year, supplementing solids after 6 months, and she never got sick, her poop never smelled, never had an upset stomach, she's super smart, and we haven't had to deal with toddler obesity. Oh and we saved like $1200/yr. we aren't hippy dippy about too many things, but breast feeding was one thing we decided to be important worth sticking out.

  19. As usual, Mark has stated the case clearly and logically. I will tell you though that in my experience, if you really want to get into the inner details of the music, listening near-field at lower levels (say 65-75 db) through a low power tube amp can offer a sonic experience that is impossible to beat. Quite a number of my local crowd now listen that way with as little as 1/3 wpc (tubes, of course) and claim that they have never enjoyed music more thoroughly. I do the same with my RF-15s, and did so with my K-horns as well. In the fall I'm going to start developing 3 or 4 flea/low power budget amps (in terms of cost, not sound quality) and will be glad to pass along schematics if you are into building your own gear. Best of luck! Maynard

  24. I would suggest getting something with preouts and using them both under proper ohm ratings. In my past i had hooked even up to 3 and maybe 4 pairs in one 2 ohm stable set of speaker ouputs from an amplifier although in the long run and if ran for hours of use your speakers could lose some proper operations as well as the load on the amp even if it features low ohm stability will run hot resulting in issues sooner than later. It may work for years and i have done just what you are saying although damage could result. Discuss with Bob C and he can ad a limiter on the crossovers of some sort to keep them running within their parameters

  26. Thanks all, Glad I posted & got the replies that came back. I know better about paralleling resistances but just wasn't thinking & would have hooked it up wrong. Figured I'd wait till there were some replies before doing it. Always better to ask a dumb question & not make mistakes. So... I just hooked them up and a beautiful sound with all 4 speakers. The Chorus with Bob Crites new drivers & new crossover caps does sound more accurate to the sound though, so I'm going to be ordering rebuild parts for the Forte II's from Bob.

  29. Last time I heard Klipschorns and B & W 801 F (hope that's the right model) in the same room was in 1982, but listened for hours! Klipschorns were clearer, had better apparent transients, and were more "there." B & Ws may have been better balanced, but turning up the bass control (not much!) on the Klipschorns fixed that. As I've said before, 1972 Bose 901s used to sound good at Alphonso's in Mendicino. The smallest amp he ever used was a Phase Linear 700 (~~~ 350 w.p.c.). Toward he end of his life, he used McIntosh power amps that were 1,000 w.p.c., if I remember correctly. I don't think I ever heard the Boses sound good anywhere else. Bose closely guards their efficiency specs, but I heard that Khorns were 22 times as efficient. Does anyone have a 2,200 w.p.c. amp?

  31. UPDATE: The single driver BR enclosures, similar to the now discontinued Tekton BR single drivers using Fostex FE103 drivers, are superior to the larger and more complicated rear horn enclosures (Fostex plans) used previously. Thanks to mdeneen for the suggestion. Four of the six RS 40-1197 drivers (a gift from forum member Klipsch Guy in Alabama) are now in the modified BR enclosures from Parts Express. Two drivers (eBay scores) are in the boom box I built (see: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/144722-bluetooth-ipod-dock-on-steroids/) While looking for a pair of real Fostex FE103s to compare with the RS 1174s, I “won” a single FE103 on eBay for $20. Since the BR enclosures are working their way into my small HT that is also going to be switchable to 2-channel for music, it occurred to me to use the single Fostex FE1103 as the center channel for the HT. The photos show the enclosure after using a router to round-over of the corners and the application of Duratex. The paper cones of the RS 40-1197s are black, whereas the banana paper cone of the Fostex is cream colored, so I stretched some black speaker cloth across the back of the metal grille to prevent the light colored cone from showing. The bass is handled by four 25hz tapped horn subs (see: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/138019-25hz-tapped-horn/) driven by a pair of modified Dayton 240 plate amps. The treble is augmented by Eminence APT 50 (same as Crites125, but w/o EV style horns) super tweeters with baby cheeks horns. Adding the subs and tweets to “single drivers” becomes stone soup. The four 25Hz TH subs are now powered by a single iNuke1000dsp (visible in the photo). The two front 8 ohm subs are wired in parallel to the left channel for a 4 ohm load, and the same for the rear subs to the right channel. I've yet to use REW and/or Audyssey to fine tune the small space. EDIT: 12/20/2015 Photos deleted to free up server space.

  32. Yeap, I love my little RB-35s. First speakers that I used a laser leveler to aim the horns precisely at my ears in the center sitting position and the results are perfect! Sound stage is truly massive! I've just finished setting up my RF-35s and RB-82s side by side in a 2.0 layout and aimed with the laser. I am truly in heaven!! What would you call a 2.0 set-up that uses two towers on each side? The RF-82s are slightly taller and sit on the outsides(toed-in slightly more) of the RF-35s which frame the TV.

  39. Get a 3mm to rca wire and try it. If its not what you want then read beyond this point... If you downloaded digital media and prefer it be analog then yes a dac is no doubt advised for use. Using a dac completely depends on if you want digital media to be converted. Likewise a cad converting analog to digital material if you so prefer...everybodys on the dac kick as im sure manufacturers Love$. dacs are hip to the times specifically for the use of converting material mostly consisting of phone type devices that do not have sound capabilities modern pc's have. i have studio gear that would do very well. No doubt best choice would be a simple or a nice gold plated 3.5mm to rca as well works super on modern pc's/mac. great quality sound. i stream music near endlessly at times. easily equal quality to my yamaha cd s-2000 which i could also run music through. the less wire as well as machines you use the better. pure fact not opinion unless you truly need digital material converted to analog. unless your pc is more than 3 years old and possibly a bit older a dac is not needed depending on the material and preferences you have. A dac will actually complicate the signal and sound inferior in many cases. Yes your going to read everywhere dac dac dac etc etc etc...its about $. A good pre will do every bit as well as a dac depending on preferences. Sure and especially through what are becoming archives on dac's because of the digital downloads some people may find some dac's provide superior reproduction then again its like catsup or ketchup or mustard or plain its all choice...

  40. It may take a few days to get used to it adjusting and location. After some time they will truly reproduce sound very well. If you are not feeling this replace the woofers or look at the network. There are a few people around here that have large klipsch collections running forte ii in main system as well as some that just prefer them over anything
