  1. Once you are done brushing the snow from your car, please don't forget to let the dog back in before pouring the coffee.

  4. I have a good friend who is from Buffalo, lives and works here in the Sacramento area, he's in no hurry to go back and visit. My new overhead Tv provides me with many cheap westerns and news, the westerns look better than the weather. Also wired into the the PC for large format video display, wife and i watched Riverdance wile cranking 32Wpc last night. So with your fresh snow, that means your in the snow pack till May?

  6. Happy Wednesday, gents. We get storms like Buffalo every so often, but not as often. Different story in the foothills and mountains 20 or so miles west of us. Baxter is settling into his new digs quite well and thinks he's lived here for years, or so it seems. Good news. Will check back later. Chuck.

  7. Wow, that is some snow! Be safe. On a brighter note, I'm sure some of you use the Chemex method of brewing your coffee....I've been doing it for about a year now, and really like it, particularly with the darker roasts. Great flavor and smoothness.

  8. One of our Forum members is going through some hard times, details here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/153673-selling-my-rig-dont-miss-out/ One of the other forum members, Eth2, suggested we might chip in and help, which I think is a wonderful idea. I have been very lucky in my buying and am going to sell some of my gear to give back and help out. I often take for granted how good I have things (family, health, job, house, etc.) and forget how quickly those things can be taken away. I have some local updated CL postings and several other things I can part with and help contribute to the cause: http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/ele/4778244787.html http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/ele/4778244487.html If you can, please try to help out, either directly (paypal: joespunk66@outlook.com) or maybe you have some spare gear at home too. Christmas is coming and Joe has a couple of boys at home. I am located in Chicago area, is anyone headed to Joe's area (Maryland)?

  10. No little house around it, it would make things a lot easier ? I have always had a house but GF's place is different. Guess I could bang a few nails since dad was a master carpenter. You just gave me an idea though. We built a 4x4x4 doghouse for Xena out of good ply, with a tin cover besides the ply. We could probably re-use the doghouse.BTW, never had to spend the night there...so far. Nan came back with some space age insulated material we put on after plumber left. Thin but, good so far. Shouldn't play with the weather I know. Had to do without water 25 or so years ago due to ice. Couldn't wash my head for a week an had huge lumps on my head. Dermatoligist said I caught a case of severe dandruff. Still trying to figure out. I would feel better. Will see.

  11. Guess I'm getting a little use to the cold, 25 the last three nights, just really glad it did not look like this, just proof humans do not belong where it's that cold.

  12. Thanks for the video Jimbo! May have to try that. A little labor intensive perhaps but hey I have nothing but time. 34 degrees here at 9:20 am and sunny. Jake loves it. Wow billybob's weather is colder than here in NC! Brought home a Taylor guitar from LF's house to try while she is away. Home and then Europe....gone for six weeks Set your calendars retirees.......it's Wednesday Cheers Gents

  13. Dealing with obligatory family time at the moment, but i was able to quickly set it up and take a picture. It's bigger than I realized - still small compared to most emotiva amps, but much much larger and heavier than the little t-amps I've been messing with for the last year or so. It sure looks good as a gear stack.

  14. When i was a kid my folks had meager means so birthday and christmas were the only times they could really spoil me. Now that im an adult in a dual income household i have the disposable income and freedom to buy "toys" throughout the year.. Ive made a concerted effort to indulge my girls and nieces/nephews for the sake of the fun and magical side of christmas (with a very healthy dose of spirituality), but otherwise have been putting a priority on spending quality time with friends and family, requesting that they reciprocate with the same. Some insist on doing gifts anyways, but outside the expectation of receiving anything in return and hurt feelings when i dont reciprocate with stuff. My wife and i try to make every day christmas, valentines day, birthday, etc - living intentionally and consistently and not just when the themed holiday rolls around. Having said that, I think im getting new socks and underwear from santa. And i know the wife is getting a few new baking pans.

  21. Haven't been Christmas shopping in 20 years, for us it's just for the kids and I surely don't do that shopping. It's about the same for birthdays here, My wife's birthday is Christmas day, and still nothing, but really we get whatever we want (when possible) whenever it comes up during the year so it's no big deal. It's just the opposite for the kids, they go nuts.

  22. You are welcome. You don't have to be quite as.....OCD....about it as the guy in the video is, but it is important to pre-rinse the filter in the Chemex with hot water, then dump that water out, which will pre-heat the glass. I always pre-heat my cup as well. Really nice method, probably the best I've tried so far.

  23. 25 degrees now and a bit lower in area around here. Glad we put a prophylactic for security around the well tank and associated lines. Plumber came back yesterday and fixed a leak around gauge of new tank, and thought we needed a new outdoor faucet but a wrench and screwdriver fixed that. Good old school weather I remember as a kid here in N Florida. One more night tonight and then it is to Peter out some...coffee is good...

  38. Wow, I had no idea they were that thin. I think they would make an AWESOME setup behind an AT screen. I have not heard any of the Cinema series but I bet if you ask Pro_Cinema_Head and Scrappydue, they will say go for the Cinema Series.

  39. 1st I think all here have gave good advice, so let me throw my 2 cents in. You say your running in two channel and you want to play it loud as hell......if your up to buying used.....I love the Carver amps. A Carver TFM 55x will drive those speakers, that most amps can't come close to. That amp will put out 375 watts all day long. Also the TFM 42/45 has the same spec. But on the down side those amps are getting old......but deals are out there.....I also like the Crown amps. Good luck Mark :-)

  40. I was just listening to the Pink Floyd - The Endless River, and it made me look at my other Pink Floyd CD's. They are remastered. I want original, or at least pre-1991 cuts of CD's so I can hear the original dynamic range. How do you all find these? I went on Ebay and looked for Pink Floyd The Wall CD 1979, and got tons of hits, many of which are remastered. There has to be an easier way yo navigate this stuff.. Any help would be helpful.

  41. I really know what you mean. In the past we had Black Friday, which has now morphed into "Black November" as all the merchants line up to see who can grab folk's disposable income before the other guy does. I don't blame anybody for that, it's just business, but I confess to be a little tired of Christmas already, and it's not yet the season! I think that will change as the "real" Christmas season gets here. +++ Minor Thread Drift: Speaking of disposable income, what does the Klipsch Forum Collective think? As consumers of new and old audio gear, is this a better time to BUY new and used stuff, or a better time to SELL?

  42. My amp is waiting for me at home. Was hoping it would come yesterday when i was at home instead of my wife. "No dear, it was uh backordered but part of the first gear order i made a couple of weeks ago. I didnt buy MORE gear, psh. Silly female." I dont think she bought the lie.

  43. Is it ever especially in the bass to have horns. No matter where we go in our home the music is clear, crisp, powerful and best of all you feel in your feet so many already have commented on that very experience. Thank you ClaudeJ for steering me in that direction I take no credit except for further propagation of the truth. Thank the late, great, PWK, but especially Roy Delgado, the Klipsch Pro Chief Engineer and co-designer of the Jubilee. PWK said: "If a cone moves, it produces distortion." Roy extrapolated that (after testing my DH1a driver/EV horn in the anechoic chamber in Indy for me) that the FIRST place one needs a horn is on the BASS, since it has the greatest cone motion of all the bands in a 2, 3, or 4-way setup. He said the tweeter produces the least distortion since it moves the least, yet, that is the FIRST place people put a horn instead of the bass. Size, space, and cost concerns? You bet, but for those who are willing, the bass has superior impact and micro definition. Electro-Acoustic transducers are either "air pushers" or "air squeezers." The Heil AMT tweeter is of low distortion because it squeezes the air from a 21" pleated diaphragm to a short horn behaving similarly to a compression driver in terms of clarity. The rest is just variations of cosmetics, not PRINCIPLES!
