Was it worth taking the day off to wear the most uncomfortable clothes I own, driving an hour and a half through Dallas traffic, fighting my social anxiety to be part of a crowded room full of strangers? For this man and his family, most certainly yes. I am truly grateful to have been a small part of today's events, to meet Boxx's family, and to celebrate a life well lived. In overhearing conversations, his eulogy, and brief conversations with his family is was evident that Boxx was the same here as he was everywhere else. A wonderful husband, a doting father, a loyal friend .. he was goofy and loved to have a good time, always welcoming, intelligent, and most certainly a music lover. So the Boxx we knew was the Boxx everyone knew, and that warms my soul. Alex, the soundtrack you put together was a perfect amalgam of his favorite artists and it was as though he made it himself. Great selections that had me tapping my toes and recalling fond memories of late night jam sessions. His eulogy was presented by his best friend and also included a beautiful message by Boxx's daughter Genevieve. A few musical selections were played as well, including "Time" and "High Hopes" - I think Boxx would have loved these selections for not only the personal importance they have in his family's life, but also the fact that he got a full chapel of multi-generational people to sit through two very slow Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd songs. I cried the whole time. Dave and the PAW: you guys knocked it out of the park with the flowers. Thank you for taking that initiative and making it happen so quickly. Forum guys: It was both weird and humbling to represent a whole segment of people that could have easily doubled the number of people in attendance. I know this forum, and all of the love and support put forth by its members, means a great deal to the family. If any of you were there, my apologies for not seeking you out. So many people in such a tight space started to overwhelm me and I needed to duck out. Boxx family: Thank you for alerting us so quickly and allowing us to support you and grieve with you. It would have been just as easy to let us know retroactively, or not at all. It was indeed a privilege to to be there in honor of your husband and dad. Alex and Genevieve: I sincerely hope you guys stick around and interact from time to time, continuing your dad's legacy and leaving your own mark. I really appreciate you taking the time to speak with me and I'd really like to get to know you more, here or "offline". I thoroughly enjoyed your dad and it's clear that his influence is found in you both, and that makes me think I'd enjoy you as well. Michele: Thank you for sharing your husband with us. He spent a ton of time here, but it should never be considered a wasted effort - our lives are enriched as a result of knowing him. I have no doubt your support network is vast, but please don't ever hesitate to reach out to the brothers of Klipsch if you need anything. Stay thirsty my friend. - Michael

The wife is at the school picking up the boys, I figure better that than me worrying all day, and if my feelings were right I would never be able to live with myself if something happened to one or both of them anyone else ever do this, or am I just crazy ?? 2nd cup done brewing

You guys want specs? I've got specs. The goal was indeed a product that bridges retro with modern. I can't tell you everything about them since what you see here are prototypes, but at a minimum for the towers: 27Hz - 22kHz +/- 2dB while the monitor is 40Hz-22kHz +/-2dB. Tweeters are 1" LTS titanium, midranges are 3" aluminum slot-loaded drivers, and the woofers are 5.25" of a design to let such a small driver dig into the 20s with authority. Rest assured, we do not believe in cheap amplification. Horn loaded speakers don't take kindly to low quality amps. As far as the wireless bit goes, until a handheld battery comes out that can provide the 1800W that a standard 120V plug can, wireless speakers are going to have power cords. You do want power, right? Something people need to understand about the transmission is that WiSA products are not wireless like your cell phone's Bluetooth ear piece. They work in a completely different bandwidth. There is near zero insertion loss (your input signal goes from the source, to the driver with nothing added). The DACs used for such products must be quite good in order to resolve the amount of detail that's in the source signal. As an added bonus, you get 24b/96kHz compatibility. Think about this: we wouldn't use products or formats that don't let our acoustics shine to their highest potential. Rest assured that these retro/modern concepts follow that ideal. -Dave W

I can't think of anything worse than the feeling you have when your child is sick. My youngest daughter is a Junior in high school. When she was 19 days old a blood vessel burst in the ventricle in her brain. She was life flighted to TX Childrens Hospital and was in ICU for 45 days. It absolutely rips your insides out. I think my wife and I aged 3 years in that month and a half.

Hello All Been a while since I have posted but I thought I should thank some of the folks that offered their help with the MWM bass bin. Thanks goes out to Michael, JC, Dtel, Claude and all of the others that gave me the info to help with the build of this MWM-s. The wood is left over pieces from a house a friend of mine built last year, the material is Advantec sheet plywood and a bit of 5/8 plywood that was used for the motorboard, hatch, and hatch cover. There is one piece of cdx used for the bottom as I didn't have enough of the other to complete the bin. the woofer is a K33 that is of 1990 vintage that I had laying around, the 35$ is just for the hardware, PL adhesive, screws and other small parts. My plan was to build this for outdoor use come spring but I got an early start on the first day of winter. Most was done outside and I think I just beat the cold deadline. I managed to paint it last Saturday with a temperature of 32 degrees using Rustolium flat black and about 20% acetone. I have been using a Belle Klipsch on one channel and the MWM with an AA network on the other and using the balance to adjust. It seems to work quite nice and if I ever sell a pair of Klipschorns I may spend some money to buy some plywood and build another pair or two.

Just to confuse you even more, the new Atmos recommendations are to have direct radiating surrounds, preferably the same height and even the same speaker as the mains. Otherwise yeah read what Ibiza just wrote. Personally I prefer lower direct radiating on everything. I have tried it both ways and I like the more seamless integration and more obvious and full range sound of towers. The dipole/bipoles are great for ambience, such as road noise or concert audiences, but when you get a strong and obvious source such as gunfire or powerful guitars, I would rather have towers at the same height as the mains myself. More movies seem to be doing this, and the Dolby Atmos guys will flat out say that's what the goal is.

Your right, you feel helpless to someone who depends on you for everything, it's a terrible feeling. Glad it turned out ok, God, I couldn't imagine how Dave and his wife felt with everything they went through with there daughter, I don't know how I could do it, very sad.

Welcome John … nothing wrong with Synergy. I have Heritage. I also have Synergy F3 setup as well. I’ve never been ashamed of the synergy or thought they sounded bad. I’m sure you’ll do fine here and i hope you like the place. I will warn you that people are pretty free expressing their opinions; but, they’re a nice group.

Hey guys.... I just posted on the Boxx thread. I just had to try to tell Alex how sad it has made me for his loss. I kept going to the thread yesterday....but each time my eyes would fill up and that big lump in throught would be there. I have never met any of you guys yet.......but somehow there is a close connection with some.....and Boxx was one of them.....I just needed to share that with my coffee buds... Now this carb thing all you guys are talking about.......I'm one of those guys you hate, I am 5' 11" 175 lbs and have been that way since I was 16 years old. I don't eat a lot of junk food and I do work out quit a bit. I am one of those that can not sit still.....I run 100 mph all day. A few times I have gone to train and I might partner-up with a "new" guy......they might be in there 20's and half way through the workout thay look at me and say........"how old are you?".....I just laugh at them...... Well on the down side of being like this is I don't sleep really good, my mind runs at night....oh well.. Gota run, I'll check in later

It is strange how you can form such a connection to people who you have never met in person. In many ways I feel like I know many of you very well, but at the same time like I don't know anything at all. The internet has certainly changed the way we live.

I have been off for a while (much more frequent reader than poster) but I was also saddened to hear of Boxx's passing. There are a lot of quality people on this forum, he was certainly a prime example and he will be missed.
