I have no feelings for for that worthless little bean untill............i get that first cup down, then i can start thinkin for the day. Yes, i know, i should treat my coffee Beans better than an exwife, but lets face reality here, when my hand is ON THE BAG,brain cells are NOT engaged. Do i feel guilty for Bean Abuse ? A little, however the Duggans smooths those thoughts over just fine. Going for the second cup now.......

  7. Wow...that's an impressive list of speakers. Thanks for the link to the KHorns. I had never seen the anniversary edition. It's rare to see a NIB pair of the KSB 3.1's. Those are a very nice sounding 8" 2-way. I have a set of drivers that are awaiting new boxes. Mine were beat up and I thought they sounded nice enough to restore.

  12. I'm in process of obtaining what will be speaker set for my eventual home theater (hey if I get the gear, that's impetus to get going on the project, right?). Anyway, it's time to get some of this collection in the hands of some of you guys so it can get the dust blown off and properly enjoyed. I'll be working on photos over the next week or so, but wanted to tickle your grey matter with a listing for starters. Ready... GO Pair of KP682 double 18" bins, with 4 KP362 15" 3-way cabinets - there is a separate thread with these. $2,000 for all 6 cabinets. These will run great off of three amps, with two set to mono to power the sub bins, and one in stereo for the tops. ^^^^ OK, sale of my old PA is pending. New additions - RS 52 surround, single, early test model in a cherry wrapped vinyl ( all others are black), would make an interesting rear center for someone with RS52's on side walls wanting to fill in the gap by going 6.1 LOWERED $100 Definitive Technology BP2 bi-polar surrounds. White box shaped cabinets with 4" woofer and 1" tweeter front AND rear firing. Early design and implementation of surround speaker design. Like new condition except for a few scuffs on white grille fabric. $200 60th Anniversary Khorns NIB - That's right, some more speakers that I purchased new and are still in box. Kept in home or heated workshop building on skids. Never played, never opened. I'm quite certain these are the only ones of their kind on the planet. $10,000 NIB means NEW IN BOX, never opened, therefore no photos available. These came from Hope, where they were manufactured, via truck to Klipsch in Indy, where I trucked them home, uncrated them, and there they sit. Dahlquist M904 - walnut 10" two-way with dome tweeter, walnut cabinets in fine shape. Used these for my 'Jazz' speakers years ago and tired of looking at the boxes. Not as efficient as Klipsch for sure, but very smooth frequency response without any of the horn colorations. In original boxes 9/10 condition $400 KP301 - the original types, not II. Think of them as a Chorus/Cornwall in battle dress. These have the 90 degree K601 Cornwall horns, Heritage grille cloth. I'd rank them an 8.5/10 condition. Only used infrequently $600 KP262 - White two way from a church in CA. Bill Hendrix and I split a truck load of stuff a few years back and I just don't have a use for them. They are voiced for VOICE - so they were a favorite in houses of worship. Two new OEM 12" K42 woofers and the same mid horn as found on forte II/Chorus II. Diaphrams replaced in HF. $450. Sound sweeter than a lot of pro Heresies to me. Quartet, from the second forte II/ Chorus II series. These little babies are voiced like their big brothers, I know I had them all lined up at one time and took measurements. Oak, raw NIB. They would be great in a home office, or rears to their brothers. $400/pair in original cartons. These have no finish on the oak, so you could stain/oil to your own preference. Cornwall III Black. S/N 1 and 2, so original that they didn't have the pie slice badges ready yet, so these went out the factory sporting copper strip plates. They are definitely the III's though with the woofer moved up, the K701 horn, the incredible network etc. They were used as demo at Klipsch for a bit then I bought them and moved around a bit. Some slight scratching but not terribly noticable. I had glass tops made that I used here. In original cartons. $2400 OBO KSB 3.1 black NIB LOWERED $175 KSB 2.1 in rosewood finish (yes it's vinyl but very good looking) NIB LOWERED $125 Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater - cabinets only in original theater grey (that means no woofer, horn, driver, crossover, just the cabinet ok?) From Indy's Market Square Arena where they were part of the public address system. The components were sold overseas where I understand they fetch an enormous price. The cabinets have a bit of storage dust and dings and someone screwed casters to one, but I'd rate them a 8/10 as decals are still fully intact. They are ready to fill with drivers of your choice. JBL2365H large format horns - yes the BIG ones about 30x30 mouth, 36" or so depth included are gaskets and the cast throat assembly. Can be used with a wide variety of drivers. JBL 4645 bass bins. Not a bass guitar or PA bin, these were designed for theater use and are fairly shallow, are about the size of a Cornwall with single 18" and three ducted port tubes. There are a few versions of this bin, more info later. I have the original woofers for these but the foam has rotted away from surrounds. Debating on selling as is or going ahead with the costly recone process for these very hefty drivers. I think they would possibly mate up well with the horns above for a tremendous sounding (and wicked looking) 2-way stereo stack. I've seen such a setup posted here somewhere. In-wall/ceiling speakers - I dunno about price, make me an offer. CA800TSW SINGLE this is the largest outdoor type cabinet, this one in black, single 8" subwoofer design, with transformer type input for installations. Think it can be used as 4ohm box standard inputs as well. NIB http://www.klipsch.com/ca-800-tsw-outdoor-subwoofer/details IC650 PAIR round 6.5" woofer + tweeter believe them both to be poly type drivers, so would work well in moist areas like kitchen or bath. NIB $75 http://www.klipsch.com/ic-650-in-ceiling-speaker/details IW50 PAIR older Klipsch type 5" woofer separate tweeter rectangular wall speakers with metal paintable grilles. NIB http://www.klipsch.com/iw-50-in-wall-speaker/details R2650 SINGLE in wall older bracket type NIB $20 http://www.klipsch.com/r-2650-w-in-wall-speaker/details

Boat Bench seat speaker install in the cave today, so i can close the door and crank some tunes. Got a bit of woodwork to do beefing up the structure under the seat, cut a whole bunch of bracing out with a sawsall getting these 6X9s to fit. Going for the Third cup :emotion-44:

But this time I thought about keeping it out on the counter. So who keeps their coffee in the fridge and who keeps theirs in a cupboard or on the counter?

  23. Unbelievable. Well, certainly unfortunate. That must sound awful. For the deep, narrow sanctuary, a center cluster of two KP-262 speakers, one hanging above the other, hung high in the center of the room will give you the best intelligibility of speech. The Heresy's are not internally reinforced or intended for hanging. The KP-262 are fully designed for hanging and are beautifully voiced for human speech. I have installed these in church sanctuaries before with great success. Michael Colter has a pair of KP-262 with brand new woofers and new diaphragms in the K-65 tweeters that would be perfect for this application. Both fully equipped with hanging hardware and designed for flying. The sound needs to be focused to the ears of the listeners with minimal reflection off side walls. I would suggest something like this:

  25. Good evening Gang Farm run this morning, picked up new tires for the boat. As of this evening, finished the Amp/Radio install and fired up the front speakers, does not sound to bad for Marine Grade speakers. Rear speaker install still ongoing here in the cave, four are slated to go in the rear bench seat. Skeeters are in a feeding frenzy, and i thought they were bad yesterday. Coffee sounds good right about now, but beer is closer......

  28. I purchased a pair of RF-82 II's and RS-52 II's from Fry's on clearance recently, but haven't been able to find a center. I finally found someone on Craigslist who has an RC-62 II (supposedly), but the photo he sent of the serial number doesn't look legit to me. Is it possible that this is a counterfeit / white van speaker? Does anyone else have a speaker with a tag like this? He says he "purchased from a shop that had it on a demo and was selling it for it wasn't being used anymore". Thanks!

  29. I am going to have to give clementine a chance as I like how I can stream spotify from it. I did take a different direction, than what I plan on with the dual boot. My father in law gave me his old computer, which had vista and kept crashing. So I disassembled the computer, cleaned everything as it was covered in smoke from a chain smoker. Yes I used some un orthodox cleaning techniques but the computer was free. Turns out it still works and doesn't smell like smoke. I down loaded Ubuntu server, and realized I might be over my head with setting it up. I will have to give it a good go tonight, as I all I wanted to do was connect a external usb hard drive as a server to access from all of my computers. If I don't like how it works I can all ways go back and install Linux Mint 17 and configure that for a home server. Good thing is none of this is coasting anything and has been a good learning experience.

  35. Over the years I did 7 completely different jobs, if I got bored I moved on. I always supported my family, but I never loved my job. One thing I never read here once from anyone is really loving your job, that's really sad if true. I understand paying bills and trying to do better, but you know what, more money is usually not the answer to happiness or raising good kids, these things come from you being happy not how much money is made. Of all the years of work I had no idea, until my last 17 years or so, self employed working with my wife everyday doing something we would have done for free we liked it so much. We really loved it, those last years completely changed me for the better in many ways. All those years I just didn't understand what really was important, do what you really love and adjust your lifestyle to fit, enjoy yourself and your family it's really the only thing you have worth anything, time goes by extremely quick, enjoy yourself. ----------------------- I do not mean this in any way against anyone here or what they do or how they live. I became SELFISH, after having jobs that at times left me not seeing my house in the daylight for years and only seeing the kids as the were sleeping I realized this was not the way to live, which I wasn't really. Between this and loosing close friends and relatives and seeing how quick it could end made me realize the cars, houses and toys are not worth having if your not happy or around enough to really enjoy them, I seen it happen to many friends and others. We moved, built a house (nothing fancy) that makes us happy and slowly got away from high car notes and credit cards. I quit my job, (my boss was shocked) went on vacation for a week and when we came back we started working for ourselves doing what we really loved, we loved it so much it showed in the work and that sold more than we could keep up with at times. These last 17 or so years changed my life, put it this way, I got more way enjoyment out of the last 20 years than I did the previous 37. Sorry for going on so long, I know time is priceless.

  39. Mark, I have all of my 5,000 CDs ripped to Disk. I can find an Album now in seconds without leaving the listening position. I can queue up single tracks from multiple albums. I never 'lose' music any more. I have not put a CD in for over 4 years. As far as streaming, I subscribe to Spotify Premium for $10 a month. It is a very high quality MP3 at 320kbps. I have had numerous audiophiles over to my place and they could not tell the difference with CD quality. This is a hotly debated topic, but most agree that they had to 'strain' to hear a difference and often got it wrong. Forget Pandora though as it is 128kbps and the differences are very obvious. Not all MP3s are the same! The Big advantage to streaming is I now have over 25 million tracks in my library. I can usually find the requested album if someone comes over. When I find a track I like, I can select 'Play other tracks like it'.... I just sit back and let the streaming service introduce me to new music. When I find something I like, I save it as a 'Favorite'. I could never go back to loading a CD or Album and hit Play.

  40. There are surely valid points made in many statements in this thread. But.....I'm glad I don't have the duty of defending high gas prices. All the people I know would not be sympathetic. I suppose cause they're all in debt to their butt, working over, barely hanging on compared to the previous generation. Everywhere we look somebody is poking us for more money. The, insurance, taxes, fees, hospitals, groceries, tires, paint, lumber and a never ending list............... When I was young things went up a few % at a time. Now it may go up 25% or more every few years, greed is truly out of control. I certainly support good pay for hard (or any) work, I have a feeling a FAIR share of the money never goes to the workers in many jobs............

  41. 1% vs. 2% THD for a subwoofer is a meaningless difference. Especially when talking about kilowatt amplifiers, it means that difference shrinks even more. When you get into the 10% region, the conversation truly begins. Those numbers mean nothing without knowing the xmax of the drivers and drones. You need to calculate volume, not area. EDIT, someone just needs to get one of each and drag race them! I can confirm that the Palladium 12" has greater linear excursion than the RSW 15 driver. This is not to say that it is "superior" due to the significant cone area difference. However, the P312 does not disappoint on any front. It produces a hilarious amount of output for its size. When you run two of them (which we do in one of our listening rooms), it becomes extra exciting great idea horrible idea. seaton subs are monsters and would spank both subs you have. they are one of the best commercially available subs for music i have ever heard. Now I get that the Seaton subs is a great idea, but a DD-18 a horrible idea? Come on Scrappy, there is nothing "horrible" about a DD-18. It is a wonderfully accurate and musical sub. It's just not the monster HT sub that the Seaton is best known for. Bill The Velodyne DD-18 and DD-18+ are both phenomenal products. They are very highly respected around here for their performance. You will be hard pressed to find a lower distortion subwoofer on the commercial market with its sonic output capabilities. Data Bass, while informative, does not tell the entire story. I'll let everyone in on a fun fact: us engineers need our competitors to make high quality products that at least match and frankly can hopefully exceed what we're doing at the moment. When you ask "how are they doing that?" and can then apply your own design approach and supersede their performance, that's when you get the best products. This competition is what drives engineering forward. Once you're the leader, and if no one else is close, progress can stagnate. When there is a competitor making something you can truly respect, it pushes you further to leap frog them and give your customers the new greatest product on the market. This is especially important in headphones with the likes of Sennheiser, AKG and Grado. Not a single person in this office would say their performance-oriented products are anything but superb. For loudspeakers, we likewise have brands and engineering principles that we respect. One becomes deluded quite easily otherwise, and the customer ends up losing out.

  44. The honor is ours … Boxx was special to us -- thanks for sharing him. To see such an outpouring of sorrow turned admiration for Boxx wasn’t surprising -- he was a joy to talk to. To see such a natural desire to keep his memory alive is quite impressive. There’s a hole in this forum in the shape of Boxx, as there should be, and that says a lot about the man. Once again … my sincere condolences and prayers for his entire family as they continue on in life.
