  1. We are treading on the edge here but the pendulum may have started to swing after a near decade of political correctness and trying to create a niche for every wacko. Trump is gathering a following. I don't feel that you can correctly anticipate every act of violence but would venture that profiling has it's place. Exceptions such as Timothy McVeigh noted. I also fear there are a lot more ticking bombs out there....on all sides. I can never remember a time when I have felt this alienated from what is now being accepted and promoted main stream. "I'm getting too old for this ****".

  2. I see humidity conversations, in Nam Rain temp 80, Air temp 80, Humid 100% pretty much for Laos, and the P.I. too. If your there and out in it daily, a month will break you in, then another month to get a good nights sleep.

  3. It keeps your pores clean for sure. I've lived here for 35 years and it just seems normal to me. When I lived in upstate NY the cold seemed normal. Your body goes through an adjustment period and you get to the point where you don't think about it.

  5. do you ever get used to the humidity? I’ve never lived in a high humidity region and all during my coast guard life, i avoided them…reeks havoc with my Asthma. Always wondered if it just becomes “normal” to those living there?

I guess one gets used to it, but I'll tell ya that I had no problem adjusting to either altitude or dryness in Colorado when I came here many moons ago. After all these years, I find it stifling and hard to breath in a really humid climate any more and I've lived in both the South and Midwest. I love those parts of the country but try not to go in the summer.

  7. The problem, imo, is radical Islamic ideology inspired or directed from abroad which is hell bent on destroying Western civilization and an abject failure by American leadership to identify and treat it as such. Is the issue cultural or religious as well? Sure it is, but that description just doesn't go far enough in accurately describing what is going on.

  11. Morning gang, its been a while since I had posted on a weekday. Thought since I was up earlier than normal, I would drop in and say hi. I have to go in and inspect one of these for a rent. They are Genie Z135 aerial lifts, have 4 of these in our fleet, 2 are on rent out west, and the 2 are down in the shop for repairs. So we sub rent from a national company that gives us good rates. It was delivered late last night, so I have to go in and inspect it and make sure it is up to our standard before sending it to the customer. I enjoy drinking hot coffee on a hot humid day, yesterday was 101 with the index at 7 p.m. I am loving it. Well got to run, everyone take care.

  12. Once again our vast police and surveillance state has failed to protect Americans while our right to bear arms was denied which could have saved lives, our government has it backwards and sets policies to further their control rather than benefit the citizens. Besides ISIS would not even exist in the first place if we had not tried to use extremists to overthrow Syria then allow them to run amok in the power vacuum of Iraq.

  15. well that’s sucks…not for me, i’m not there. Humidity is a factor in my travel plans though. Spent four days on Waikiki--no problem; went to the other side of the island and after a couple hours I could already feel my lungs getting mad at me. would love to visit the south; but, won’t do it during summer. Guessing maybe fall or winter is the best?

  16. evening guys, Setting back chilling out with tunes, Tony Joe White sounding extremely nice tonight, I think the Metrum is coming around nicely. went into Jriver and reset all the tweaks to flat then boosted the bass only about 2.5 db at the 60hz and I gotta say I am missing the Havana a lot less I was regretting the sale as the metrum did not seem to be coming around to the NOS (Non Over Sampling) sound I wanted, I can say without a doubt that the reports of the Metrum sounding hot when new are true, but tonight it is sounding much better, I have put around 40 hours on it past the original owners 70 hours for a total of about 110 hours this has nothing to do with getting used to the sound sig of metrum, I am sensitive to the hot sound and fatigue sets in fast. No Fatigue tells me it has mellowed on the HOT sound

  24. Yes, but to be honest the z booms are the ones I won't take all the way up, or the 180' boom we have. I have taken 120-135 up but my knees get to wobbling above 100'. 80, 60, and 40's no problems. Yes you do get use to it, some have no fear right off the bat. The tallest scissor I have seen is around 50'

  27. It's hard to come up with a battle plan to take on the ISIS, AQAP, ISIL, Boko Haram and all the other radicals when we have a Muslim radical in our own white house. Anyone that pushes to prop up radical gov't around the globe like our leader has makes it easy to see why everything we know is so broken. To the doubters about him being Muslim, he went to Muslim schools for his first 16 yrs. Say what you want but those are very influential years in ones life.

  30. The current administration is planning troop level reductions to the lowest they have been since WWll. This reduction has been initiated in spite of the proliferation of radical groups like Boko Haram, Hamas, ISIS and others. At the same time we turn our backs on allies such as Israel. On the home front the same folks want to disarm law enforcement of any military type weaponry. See how that is working in Mexico where the cartels now heavily out gun the police and operate with impunity. Now if Tarheel ran things.........

  33. Trying to head-off these guys has to be harder than searching for a needle in a haystack. Think about the fact that we have over 310 million people in this country. If any one of you wanted to go "nutso" today, who could stop you before you did serious harm? We don't have a policing problem. We have a culture problem.

  40. many people don't realize how much work a cruise ship staff does...long hours and pretty much everyday for their contract. She has a psyc degree, she is a babysitter on the boat along with 6 other girls. Kids ages average 10, works a couple hrs a day. Cry me a river, she has it MADE. That position seems to have it much better than the food/drink servers for instance. I was talking to one of them on my cruise and she said that she worked seven days a week. She was from Russia and said she cried when she first started...after working all day for an entire month, her pay check was in the $500s Cruise Line figures they're going to make up the difference from passenger's tips. When i retired from the Coast Guard, i had a job offer from a Cruise Line...former boss is Senior VP. Turned it down due to heavy worldwide travel. I would have been meeting the fleet wherever in the world they were when the ship's inspection was due. Ride the ship a few days, while conducting the environmental compliance audit -- then fly on to the next one. Would have been a decent paycheck, and being part of the corporate staff wouldn't have had to kill myself like many of the ship staff; but, all that travel wasn't going to jive with what was going on in my life at the time.

  41. I hope to make this thread informative, and maybe turn it into a Q&A for all things Atmos related. I have a 5.2.2 system that I am testing at home. I have been using this system for a few months now. It is without a doubt the best HT experience I have had to date. The immersive experience offered by Klipsch Atmos products is simply stunning! As you will see in the pics, IT WORKS WITH VAULTED CEILINGS!! The system consists of an RP-450CA, RP-280FA, RP-140SA, and 2 R-115SW. As soon as I can get a more capable receiver, I will expand the system.

  49. (minor editing by me for clarification) The problem is you are using the expression "keep up." I'm not sure that concept applies the way you are using it. I am questioning the expression because of my own experience switching to 5.1 just a couple of years ago. I was so used to sound in stereo (which I now understand is "2.0" ) that when I went to 5.1, the CONCEPT and the sound stage was so different I was completely lost. I no longer needed all the speakers to be the "same" or even sound the same. The center speaker is now so fine tuned for vocals. Surrounds are now needed to produce gun shots and crickets chirping, big full bass need not apply. Now we have Dolby Atmos speakers which don't produce LOUD, but adds FULL to a three dimensional sound stage by bouncing sound off the ceiling. I have just now arrived at beginning to understand surround sound. With Atmos, I am once again lost. Can the new Atmos speakers "keep up" with the strong Klipsch L/R/C and surround sound speakers Klipsch is famous for? I think the concept of "keeping up" might be an antiquated expression referring to the sound stage of a by-gone era. If an Atmos module "meets Atmos specs" that might be the only criteria one need ask about. It's a new (Atmos) world.
