I tell my grandkids about the "old" days when you had to get up and change the tv channel and there was NO cartoon network....they look at me like I'm nutz....lol lol Anyway glad you got the pressure washer fixed up...... Give Jake a pet on the head for me..... OK as you guys can tell not much going on with me..... I'm just jibbling on....well coffee is almost gone gonna roll out..... Wishing all a great day... 3. Morning folks. A chance of rain today. Glad I finished painting patio furniture yesterday. Finished pressure washing front walk and back patio. Overnight shipping by Generac on the new hose surprised me. The Jakemiester has licked his front lower leg to the point the hair is gone and light bleeding. I wrapped it up with gause and tape but he didn't like my work and tore it off. Not sure what's going on and he has always licked that area but not to this extent. Anxiety? New meds? (Glucosamine and Traumeel for joint pain). Not sure. No plans for the day. TV on demand.......I watched a series called "Luther"......2 seasons worth. Really enjoyed it. BBC only interrupts with one commercial which is nice. Cheers Ladies and Gents

  5. Mornin' gang. Pretty day here and no rain in the forecast. Managed to keep a nice lawn all summer due to lack of watering restrictions. The key here is a good snow pack in the mountains and fairly wet spring. That keeps the nice people who dictate watering practices (I lovingly think of them as the 'Water Nazis') from turning everyone's lawn and plants into crispy critters. Missed ya'll yesterday. Probably exhasted from all the coffee jokes. Baxter sends a woof to Jake. Cheers to all.

  6. Each generation has their own "when I was growing up" stories. I remember loving to hear my grandparents talk about dating in a model T that had tarps you rolled down to keep the rain out or having to walk the mules down to the river after plowing a field. My Dad's stories of hot rodding old flat head v8's and going to school in a one room school house. Now my kids hear about life before the internet, cell phones and microwaves.

  7. Good Thursday morning everyone.................. Just a REMINDER.....(#1)....... Tomorrow evening (Friday) Pezz and I are planning on a sync listening session of Pink Floyd's DIVISION BELL.. I will be thinking of Boxx and believe that Mrs. Boxx will join us for the first time in one of these events to play along. Time slot will be 8:30pm. eastern... Hope you'll join us with ANY format you are able drum up... For me, it will be vinyl and eager to hear it with the new CA Azur preamp ... This notice is being cross displayed in both RTM/CC&C Enjoy your day, and your music as always........ ............Gary PS.....Steve, actually, this only part of the huge outdoor concert lounging area, they have underground watering system. Actually, MY lawn is BROWN right now, we did not water this year, Chipmunks ate through ALL my hoses last year! We have had very little water actually, and don't expect any more until the end of the month (as we were told by the weather crew this morning)! There are water bans in the neighboring towns too!

  8. Good afternoon Gang 1Pm eh? Corona time. Been on the MCM project allday, stripping one more out, simple green, grind a little, Bondo, sand, repete. No critters found as of yet, the way the dirt looks and comes off, these appear to indeed have been in a movie theater setting from new, lot of screw holes, like they stacked them and then shot them in place. All Drivers perfect shape/Ohmed out so far. Waiting for neighbor to get home to get the Bass Bin on the ground. Clouds, no rain as of yet

  12. exactly. I related to my children that i had to get up a half-hour before i even went to bed and walk five miles to school, in knee deep snow--up hill BOTH WAYS. They didn't believe it. Funny, i remember hearing this when young. dad ask me what i would do? told him i would not go to school. Dad says they would come and get me, i seem to remember my respone to this was something like , GOOD, THEN I HAVE A RIDE.. Whenever my Mom would ask me "how was school today?" I knew that she had found out that i hadn't gone." i would just tell the truth, "I don't know--I wasn't there."

Iv posted this before, here is my "Enlightning" as a "free" child living with a Playboy Dad. First day 8th grade waiting for the bus, i get Bullyed by some Jock. Get to school, harassed by same punk all day right up to my first PE. Stand-in parent acting as coach, no coach had been hired yet, small guy, about my size in fact. 50 kids lined up, this guy pop's off with "We have a Girl with us today" pointing at me, (i was a surfer, trying to be a hippy). I poped off right back at him with a prompt FKU, he then runs to me grabbing me by my then twisted up shirt, my mindless response was to "Right Fist into face" and with everything i had. this guy flys backwards into brick wall with me in tow, his head hits wall, knocking him cold, dead silence behind me except i hear one kid running toward me, i turn around and see, here comes the Bully! i am freeing my self from this guys grasp, just standing up and see the Bully reach for me. Again, right fist into what i thought was his belly, wrong, Ball hit, dead-on, Bully dropped to ground screaming, looked up. 48 kids scared to death looking at me. one kid yelled, you just killed his Dad! Blood yes, dead, no. Left school, went surfing, dad and i called into school, told school he backed up whatever i said as well as 48 kids. Never went back for 8th grade. next year, military school, i liked it!

  28. Welcome to the forum, K. I love my Forte II and their little brother Quartet. I've never found them harsh. Obviously you purchased these used. So I'm wondering if there is something wrong with them. A burned out driver might be involved but that should not make them sound too harsh, but you never know about perceptions, entirely. Let me suggest some testing. Put them next to each other and using a balance control, if you have one, pan from side to side and listen to determine if they both sound the same. This might show up a problem with one or the other. It is possible, but a little unlikely, that both have the same problem. You never know. I'll also suggest testing the woofers by "feel." You'll have to take off the front grill. The grills are attached with magnets. You can use a butter knife or smooth kitchen knife to pry off the grill. It should pop off. You don't want to ding the veneer but a smooth knife should not be a problem. I know you don't want to mess up your new babies but common sense will guide you. Then take a look at the woofer. Are there any cuts or holes? Use your hand with spread fingers to gently push in on the woofer. With a little force it should move 1/4 inch or so without binding. A partially burned out voice coil can cause binding. This would indicate a problem and will cause harshness and lack of bass. (I've found that when the bass in one speaker stops working, it is difficult to detect in "stereo.") You should also check the big passive woofer in the back. Any holes? While you are pushing in on the front woofer, check to see that the rear passive moves out when you press in on the front woofer. This may require a bit of contortionist position. Putting the units on a table may help. Essentially, the cabinet is a sealed box. You are determining whether there is a good air seal and that the woofer (front) and passive (rear) are free from punctures. And also that the box is free of leaks. While you're looking at the back passive, you may notice a ring around it of cardboard. Sometimes this comes loose and buzzes. Now that the grill is off, you should check to determine that the mid horn (the big one) and the tweeter (the little one above it) are working. Play some music into one box at a time. Use a cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels to improvise a stethoscope. (BTW I don't know why they are called stethoscopes when we are not using them to see.) Ear at one end and the other up against the mid horn and tweeter, and determine whether sound is coming out of the respective horns. The mid carries a lot of the musical information. The tweeter is just reproducing the upper octave or so and will sound tinny. By means of the above, you've give you new babies a good examination, without taking them apart. Let us know what you find. The Forte II are gems. But sometimes people sell them (and any speaker) because they have been subjected to abuse and damaged. (It can happen. A young relative of mine presented me with some small Speaker-Labs which just stopped working for no good reason. My autopsy on them showed toasted voice coils. I'd say they were at a rocking good party. Smile.) WMcD

  30. This description sounds like what iv had for 20+ years, bad part is that all the buildings are in three different states, well two now. This set up is what im shopping for in nevada, may not find all the out buildings im looking for and may need to build a few. So finding out spreads like described are hard to find, focus is on land/space/house/barn. Deets dad has his Chit together, im impressed, nothing like seperate shops. :emotion-21: This all sits on about 5 acres. Yeah...We built the original Barn in 1987...dad and I raised the 12 telephone poles by ourselves. It was actually a functioning barn for about 10 years. Housed the pigs and horses. Once the horses went away, dad closed it all in and made it a "shop" for my mom who was doing small craft shows and such. Started gaining steam in the mid 90's and dad added on the Storage Room. About 15 years ago dad retired from trucking and went in full time with mom and started doing more furniture building and finally decided he needed his own space (he builds large pieces....tables, hutches, settles, amoires, etc) and added on the woodshop. It's actually all one building except for his metal shop...it's seperate. He wanted to keep it all connected due to it being Florida and can rain at any given minute. I'll snap some pictures this weekend to give an idea of the space

  31. That's it! That's the "barn".....main area inside is mom's "shop"...about 30x30 from there you alk into the storage area to the rear....thats about 30x15 attached to that is dads wood shop...thats about 30x60 then behind that is a pole barn that houses all of his metal working tools....plasma cutter, welders and his new CNC cutter in front of the barn is the Bunkhouse...which is just a building with an open room that's about 15x20 space with a wrap around porch...also has an Outhouse behind it. then in front of that is their home that has the garage renovated into their "Store Front"....that also serves as a Bridal Suite for Weddings.

  33. I will say this, I am a lot like Bigstew, but have also become more laid back in the last year or so, due to feeling that there is an ulterior motive with people and neighbors dealing with me. Until I am pushed or someone wants to act tough also. I also am very guarded and expect to get screwed in the end by people I deal with as it has become the norm for where I live and where I grew up. Unfortunately, I didn't grow up with a good family backing, so I am very good at reading bad people, and have become accustomed to not really understanding someone when they are genuine with me, and feel I owe them something when they do something for me. I don't always feel thank you is enough. Maybe it's all in my head, but that's me. I will however go out of my way to help others when I can still as I believe in Karma. Without dwelling and going back to the situation I had here, I felt and still feel horrible the situation ended the way it did, as I thought of that person in a good manner. Joe,I also would have done the same thing you did waiting, and then when I didn't get what I was supposed to get would do the same. Even though in the back of my warped little head I expect to get screwed somehow,I give the benefit of the doubt and will go above what maybe I should at times. That's what makes it easy for me to live with myself when an issue does arise. Unfortunately, today's society doesn't think of there neighbors as brethren, they think of them as someone who can further their own personal needs. And yes it is tiring keeping your guard up all the time, but it does make you appreciate the relationships you develop with people even more.

  35. Do you know what a melody is? OK, you win that point with your video example. That tune does have a melody, but using the same video can we agree that Mr. Street's voice has no musical range, and the notes (spoken words?) are out of tune? Such an uplifting theme for the children who were singing, that they were so cheerful and upbeat that none of them was going to die today.

  42. Morning all Busy week this week. Been working after hours with my parents helping them get ready for their Fall Open House. They own Tuckers Farmhouse and 4 times a year they open it up for their sales. They re-purpose Amish Barnwood into "primitive" art, house decor and furniture. Their Fall Open House is Saturday and I've been in the woodshop with dad helping get product finished. They surprised my wife and me by letting us know that the huge "Farm Table" that I've been helping dad finish is actually ours. The whole time I've been working on it I've thought how perfect it would be for our large family. I'll have to get some pictures once we get it to the house. They are on Facebook...take a look if you get a chance....they also do Weddings and parties....was a really great place to grow up...and the kids love going over and spending time.....awesome that we only live about 5 minutes away. Also started talking to dad about building some custom speakers....he's actually excited about the prospect....thinking Cornscalas or Jubilees...thoughts? He's a master carpenter and has every woodworking tool known to man.

  49. Graham P, First of all, as stated previously, "Welcome to the Forum Friend!" Next, also previously stated, you have original Forte' model Klipsch speakers in Oiled Oak. What you have are some very articulate sounding speakers. Although the Forte II model is slightly preferred, they are still a very excellent speaker and you got a GREAT deal on them, their condition looks outstanding from what little I could see. The Walnut Oiled Veneer is more common, but also more sought after, I have always preferred the Oiled Oak version myself. dtel, who posted above me has an entire surround sound system made up of all Forte' and Forte'II model speakers. We hope you continue to come here and post here in the future! We actually have get together as individuals and as an entire group of forum members to listen to other models of Klipsch speakers or to hear what our model of speakers sound like with other equipment such as tube amps or a better solid state amp. There is a book available on eBay about Paul Wilber Klipsch, he was an actual genius who started the company but had no heirs. The company has since been sold to a distant cousin and then to Audio Vox in the public sector. Almost forgot to tell you, those speakers were designed to be placed in corners. If at all possible, place them in the corners and angle them in at whatever angle that the sound from both speakers will cross a foot or two in front of your listening spot. The speakers should be about 12 to 16 inches out from the corners. Play with this to see what works best for the best sound in your room. The placement in the corner really improves bass, angling them in as stated will really enhance imaging at the listening point. Again..... WELCOME !! Roger
