  3. Happy Friday all. It's going to be a great day. I'm taking off at lunch time, picking up the wife and headed to Lockhart TX for some Smitty's BBQ. Yes it is worth the drive. Besides, afterwards we are headed to Austin. My wife to attend a jewelry show and I am on to Round Rock to visit a buddy and spin some vinyl.

  4. Hey you have you own foliage right outside your door, I do too, but it's nice to get away from the homestead. The New England/Maine area is a part of the country that's on our list to visit, it looks beautiful. I went to Vermont once to buy a motorcycle, but I didn't have time to visit, sure looked nice and peaceful though. Enjoy your trip to Maine.

  10. Happy Friday morning gang. Cooling off out here but still pretty. Weather has been nice but very dry. Could use some rain. Love the idea of a New England fall tour one of these years. We get some fine colors in our mountains every fall, but mostly green and gold/yellow (from the Aspens). Lots of that going into New Mexico on our recent trip but it would be great to see different colors too. Great pics Chuck. It's been many moons, but I still remember the pretty beaches of NC. Would like to see 'em again! Enjoy the day and as always, Cheers.

  13. Got our 99 Volvo V70 2.4 liter engine used with 113k on it installed, total cost, with new heater core which blew when the timing belt broke for 3k...total. Haven't looked but would be good to know if interference or non-interference engine. When timing belt breaks, on an interference type, damage is done to valves, possiibly piston. In any case, 11k is waytto much when a used engine installed, or another SUV can be had for around half that. Anyway, good luck! Usually timing belt good for 100k between changes so 84k, abit premature. Of course, you are way up there so, probably way off base, I am. Good info! We are still on the hunt. I have spoken with three Volvo mechanics in Seattle and a dealer and the overall consensus is still no confident. So we're looking for a new vehicle and we may see if we can limp this one along for a while.

  14. Greetings all - still in the vehicle hunt. Love my job, but am actually quite excited for the weekend this week. Stayed up too late watching a locally made cheeseball movie. (Moose-The Movie). Post lunch coffee is on board, second son turned 1 over the weekend, life is good. Enjoy the day!

  15. Again...want versus need. You will not find agreement on the forum as to whether an amp is definitely something you "need." With a 3.1 like you're planning, a flagship receiver is all that you really "need." Now, would an amp make things sound a little better...maybe/maybe not, and that's where you're finding the disagreements above ^^^. But do you "need" the amp...no. A strong receiver will provide you all the power that you "need" for your planned setup. But, there's that nagging set of "what if" questions that only you can decide on. If those are going to bug you, then by all means, get the pre/pro with an amp. If not, then get a high quality receiver and just enjoy it without worrying about the rest. A good quality receiver will get you 90%+ of the way there (and some of us may argue that it's even more than that). The other 10% (or less) you may or may not hear...as evidenced by the disagreement here in the forum. To a certain extent, we all hear what we want to hear, especially when it comes to our gear in our room. Go with what will make you happy with your gear in your room. Best wishes on the decision.

  22. She must be really tall and a good multitasker. Going to have to think abit on it Carl but, yes I wish she was taller. And multitasking is the problem now, as doing woman's work ATM.That plumber came back and finished pumping up the pressure on her and finished the job a day early. Nice guy and mighty reasonable. Same age as me but was wirier and, BTW, this dude plumber makes my 1-2 cups of java per day seem mighty small. You were busy doing your excellent work on your BR, or would have called you.

  24. Good early evening everyone...... We are in beautiful Ogunquit Maine, staying at our favorite place.... One of 5 suites in a converted horse barn ... Just stopped into town at our usual wine and cheese shop, brought back a fine local blueberry wine which is excellent! Three exotic cheeses also came back and enjoying one which is excellent with this fruit forward juice ... Ceptor, that is an interesting story about your visit to Vermont. I actually have on a couple occasions took off on my iron horse to take fall photos! Very nice times.. HA, our motorcycle riders club is having their annual pig roast tomorrow!, it is the first time in 6 years that I have not been able to go, as our Maine trip was already planned a year ago, but we DID make our dill, olive oil potato salad which is requested for both major events we put on... MPK, great on your visit to Bar Harbor, we have many pipe organ accounts in ME. Usually, two of us take off and stay up here for a full work week to get as many organs tuned as possible... I believe I am up next to go, as we switch off with different co-workers.. Luther, I hope you had a nice M.A.D. of your own spinning vinyl with friends Ok, we have dinner reservations for tonight and tomorrow night, doing a package deal with our Inn keepers which they offer... I will check in with some photos from this AMAZING - motorized haunted display they do each year across the street, it is different each year, and was running when we arrived, and all gets illuminated after dark... More in a bit... .......Gary

  25. The wife's grandparents lived in a retirement community there, it was a nice place had some good fried chicken while I was there, along with some Salt BBQ. I someday hope to plan a weekend trip just for that. I guess I could plan another week long trip for all sorts of fun things in Texas.

  35. LOL! Well, you can't be in love with two women at the same time, and I see a nice looking pair just behind those La Scalas. Since you just went through a labor of love, if you aren't going to keep the LS's I would be tempted to give them a really nice cleanup and get all the drivers working. Then see if you can flip them to recover the cost of the Chorus boxes you just had built, or to supercharge the Chorus networks.

  44. Afternoon Gang This Working again is interesting, the hard part of the day is just being on my feet all day. Retirement will soften you up in that area, no biggie, i could lose a little belly anyway. Everyday has been sweat by noon, farmers have it made most of the time but when it comes to tending the crop, you work till it's done. Dam Walnuts anyway, millions of them. ripped around on a Husky 400 dirt bike, have not doen that in 30+ years. Crackin my first New Belguim IPA.
