This is a little left field and my twin @dirtmudd may find it strange ? - Hope not ,) I mentioned earlier on the thread in an answer to another member that I love the clarinet but I also like dance records You see - in my youth I was a bit of a twinkle toes and participated in ballroom dancing I will post just a small sample of my dance record titles They form a dual purpose for me 1) As test records 2) As happy memory records that get me up to dance Musically they are pitch perfect and tone perfect, making them great test or turntable set up records Now don't pigeonhole me - because I love all forms of dance Just remember the music is the lead and actions follow So that makes me A Prog rock, Alice Cooper loving, metal head with a love for ballroom dancing That's not so strange ?? Is it ? So next time you are in a used record shop or an opportunity shop look for good examples of dance records and try one out as a test record just for fun3 points

Yes, this is raw wood. I used Heat Lock glue. It is rolled on the veneer and the cabinet. You let it dry and then use an iron to reactivate the glue to hold the pieces together. I'm still thinking about the type of finish I will use. Regardless if it's lacquer, finishing oil or polyurethane, it will really make the grain pop.3 points

Mark, Thank you and your wife for your support. The first few years are the most vulnerable years for success of any organization, even more so with a non profit that relies solely on memberships and donations. The support you and others are so generously giving will insure that we will survive this year. Thanks! I'm really loving them so far, I think they've already earned a permanent spot in my collection. I'm actually not sure exactly what year they are, but I'm sure someone here can tell me. Serial numbers: 20P360 20P3832 points

Thank you, I built it to absorb some of the reflection off the wall next to my head. I didn't have any issue with my right ear because of the opening from the listening position. It makes a noticeable difference with my left ear. Not perfect but a huge improvement. I tried to make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible while still functional. The improvement this made spawned my interest in other treatments. Thank you, it's my happy place. Hopefully by this weekend I will have acquired a suitable laptop to run REW on, and with some significant hand holding some useful measurement.2 points

You always want several of the most capable subs you can afford. I often recommend 2 lesser subs to folks wanting to stay in a budget. More subwoofers will have more cone area and thus will generate XX dB with less cone motion (and stress) each. That will generate less distortion. Having had 1, then 2, and now 4 of the same subs, I can heartily recommend multiple subs. By being in different places they will not all excite a single room mode and you will get more even bass response throughout the room, in addition to prodigious output! You can always turn the throttle back, but you can't turn it up, if you're already max'ed out.2 points

For reference, I'm buying a pair of '88s in black that need some TLC on the paint and plywood veneer. They come with the original Type AL crossovers and a second pair of rebuilt Type AA crossovers, for $900. I've seen prices range from $900-1700 depending on condition, location, age, crossover/driver combo, etc.2 points

The original badges were clear plastic back then. I would say $300 is a good price if they were in almost mint condition. I paid $150 for my h700s, in better shape.1 point
