  5. Yea, seriously? I think about 75% of the people that liked that tune did it out of respect for her dad. It was catchy though. Then poof she was history like so many others. That one hit wonder thingy. 😂

  6. 65 here in Duckburg yesterday! Today? Not so much. 35 outside now. lol Typical for spring around here. Calling for 60's and up on the wkend. Broke the grill out and toasted some bratwurst. Leftover's today! Mr Mudd that forecast is just plain nasty! Gave up on fertilizing the yard this year. New pull behind spreader fell apart last spring so I ordered a simple lil replacement part that cost me $15. The lil trap door from the bin to the spreader wheel. Cake, right? Wrong. Now the thing throws the spread into the cub cadet instead of the yard. Bleh, called Tru-Green and they showed yesterday. Dude walked it spreading granular, done in 10 minutes and was crawling in the pickup. I got the special for 60, then checked what he put on. 19 parts nitrogen and nothing else? Time for a new spreader I think. Back in two weeks for the fert and pre-emergence @ 115? Can't wait to see what the content mix is for this one. I knew they had it figured out but seriously? End of rant and time to make more coffee.. @MicroMara get on that rehab and hope all goes well for ya. Bad backs are nasty. We'll throw down some tunes for ya over in the youtube thread. Get to work and no cheating! Leave the females alone too. None of that feely, touchy, gropy stuff from another old man.

  12. what's coffee? Drank some dark hot stuff Saturday for the first time in a week, hurt so bad later that I've got beans just sitting there. That song played where I was when I was little! The Stones version was more my speed later on. *Found a good link earlier, I haven't been after their 4th LP too often.

  15. @grasshopper did ya have a breakfast pie this morning from the gas station? lol I think I could count on one hand the number of times I've ever eaten a sammich from a gas station cooler. Scares me... lol Yea, it's spring. Everyone has one. Just like everyone has a black velor picture of Elvis hangin in their listening room. lol Was always a hoot when ya drive by an old van somewhere in the middle of BFE , doors open and Elvis pics sittin everywhere. Apply tictoc here somehow. Youngest has people contact her about her doing something for a tic toc vid they're working on. Then she posts the video with her in it. Kids today think it's fine. I'm still trying to figure that thought process out. Maybe the gene pool? 😂

  16. Can someone please shed some light on the Ebony finish and how to care for it, oil based or other? Beautiful speakers and want to make sure finish is treated correctly. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions. I have already contacted Klipsh and they was unable to give advise which I find odd.

  17. Been thinking about Larry a lot this week. Whenever I called him, he answer with "Hello There", his voice full of humor and happiness. Gonna miss that. Then there was the time Larry, Gary and I hooked up for a classical concert. Gary was bringing him, so I was wandering around the concert hall and finally found them. For some reason they were in a room full of tween-age ballerinas. One time I stopped by for a visit and Larry and a close female friend from back West were sitting in his living room, pursuing the Sunday Washington Post. Sections were scattered around the floor and there was total palpable silence as they parceled out the day's stories like they were examining an ancient architectural site. I envision him sitting up there with Paul Klipsch, in cloud-like chairs, discussing the merits of their favorite classical pieces. Surely a conversation that could last for eternity.

  21. This is a new 3lp pressing that dropped a while back. Yes Sir, it's everything they say it is. Crazy dark but fantastic in it's own way! In a class all of it's own and "they" say it was his best. I'd tend to agree with them cause it's wild in it's own way! If ya like him it's a must have especially in the 3 disc format. Crazy good! Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. (November 20, 1941 – June 6, 2019), better known by his stage name Dr. John, was an American singer and songwriter. His music combined New Orleans blues, jazz, funk, and R&B.[1] The Sun, Moon & Herbs is a 1971 studio album by New Orleans R&B artist Dr. John, noted for its contributions from Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, and other well-known musicians. It was originally intended to be a three-album set but was cut down to a single disc.[4] The album was described by James Chrispell on AllMusic as "dark and swampy" and "best listened to on a hot, muggy night with the sound of thunder rumbling off in the distance like jungle drums".[1]

  22. can'r say I did, @Dave1291. @Full Range if you stop at the bakery next to the Coloroy Beach House [in the Sydney metro area] and they are serving mango salsa/chutney with or in their pies ... it's my fault. I made some for them.

  26. I just received my pair of Forte IV's after having Forte II's for years. Before I purchased the IV's, I decided to go the small speaker route and purchased a pair of the new Mission 770's with a subwoofer. As the nice as the 770's sounded with exceptional detail but very polite, I was missing that live Klipsch sound that fills the room with ease. So I traded in the Mission's with a more than fair trade-in value for a pair of Forte IV's. I know I still have to break them in but I have found that the IV's are not as fussy when it comes to speaker placement compared to the II's. My listening space is 18.5 x 10 x 7.5 and I have the IV's 12'' from the back wall and 9'' from the side wall with a slight toe-in (for now as I will still be play around with speaker placement). I ran the speakers through my Sansui Eight Deluxe which is a great match but I also want to test with my Sansui Six as I think those Sansui single digit series receivers are great with Klipsch speakers. I did switch them to a Yamaha S-1200 which kind of opened them up a bit and the bass was more than satisfying which worried me because I ran the Yamaha on other speakers and the bass kind of fell short. Also the IV's sound better on low volume on the Yamaha than my II's ever did which is why I would switch the II's to the Sansui to activate the loudness button. So far, my impressions from my brief listening session is that the IV's are not a bright as the II's. They are slightly more detailed than the II's but I am sure they will reveal themselves after they have been broken in. I decided to switch on the subwoofer to see how it sounded but found out the bass is more than sufficient on the IV's leaving my subwoofer futile. However, I think the bass in the II's is a little heavier kind of leaning towards the boxier Cornwall bass sound but that could be the way II's were situated in my listening room. No complaints from me on the IV's bass. I know I need more time to test these babies out but my expectations have been exceeded because I was a little hesitant that my listening room would not accommodate the IV's but I think I can rest easy that they have found a home with a more than happy customer.

  27. As good as the Forte’s are , they are not comparable to the Klipschorn , and unfortunately combining them will degrade/ compromise the Khorn sound. However , a Lascala or Bell at center will create a formidable three channel combination that is tough to beat. The ultimate front stage in my opinion. On the other hand , the Fortes will timbre match very well with the Khorn and overall play pretty darn good together, it’s just that the results could be significantly better .🤓

  30. A window is a hard surface so a speaker with a rear port or rear passive radiator will work fine if it’s behind it. I love my Heresys but my room is quite a bit narrower and shallower than yours. I’d suggest fortes.

  35. A quick swap back and forth is useful for sure and I do that but what I also like to do is listen to a set for several hours, days even and then swap them out. Only after really settling in with a set do you really catch what they have to offer, good or bad. Some times I'm more surprised when I swap out my mains for new speakers, listen for several days then swap back to my mains then I will be at the initial swap.

  37. Cabinets refinishing pretty much done. I hope I did not offend any of your faithful Klipsch Hersey fans by picking this color scheme. The original raw birch plywood, even with pre-stain conditioner, still came up blotchy. However the blotchiness turned out up giving the cabinets some vintage feel. So far I am quite pleased with the results. Soon to reassemble and enjoy music from them 🙂

  38. I get it, everyone wants to be helpful. It’s admirable. I hadn’t noticed the value on the electrolytic. Yeah, it look like he’s running AK-3’s in his AL-3 La Scalas. Very little difference of course - just that low pass shunt cap. Now, if you want details - You will have to check with my technical lead (who actually understands math). @mboxler

  39. If I build something and it stops working, I expect the end user to send it back to me. I will stand behind my work, and there will be no charge, regardless of what I find. However, If they start poking around, etc. - all bets are off and they are going to get billed for the work. I can’t really figure out this insistence on digging into this network when I’m pretty sure Michael would take care of it at no charge.

  40. He's going to get an electrician in to test the mains power supply If one of you has a Radio Shack (or other) SPL meter, put that "constant wall of sound" on and measure the SPL at the Main Listening Position. Then Google OSHA standards for hearing safety. With music with variation -- like you like -- occasional, brief big peaks, even as high as 115 dB are probably O.K. (with meter at "C" "Fast"). See what OSHA says about constant loud sound ... I think that even 80 dB may be pushing it Yeah, I've got one, we'll test this over the weekend 3 different pairs of speakers, so I doubt this is it

  41. I actually enjoyed his article right up to the little spiel at the end, where he tries to claim his copyright on the article especially prevents you from printing the page for personal use(!!) and that you have to pay $5 for the privilege. This couldn't be more wrong - I understand that he wants to make a living from blogging, but that's no reason to mis-represent copyright law. If there was any way he could possibly know whether you print the page, I would print multiple copies just to prove the point

  42. I hope some of you guys from the US see this - it's actually a really good price, when you consider that they sell for AUD$28,000/pr (or did, last time I checked) For a long time, we only had 1 authorised distributor in Australia for any Klipsch above the Synergy line (which were sold at Harvey Norman, our equivalent of your Best Buy), and that was their asking price a few years back. It seems that the exclusive arrangement has now lapsed, thankfully, but I haven't found anywhere listing a retail price for these in Aus. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Klipschorn-AK4/331346685082 I'd hate to think what Jubs would cost, here (if I ever win lotto, I intend to find out!)

  46. Hi again First off, apologies if this, too, has already been covered. I did a quick search and didn't see anything on the first 3 pages... Do any of you have any experience measuring the frequency response of your setup? Preferably something that doesn't cost $x,000s as this is purely idle curiosity I downloaded 2 (free) aps from the Google Play store which purport to offer such measurements, but there's no way in the world that they're accurate. First of all, I'm sure the mic on a mobile phone isn't calibrated all that carefully for the full frequency range, given that it's primary job is to capture the human voice in spoken conversation. Secondly, just look at the screen-caps I got from them - there's no way in the world that my RF-83s (with no sub) are producing single-digit frequencies while playing "MTV Dance" channel on cable (Dolby Digital encoding). Alright, so my (carpeted) floor is chip-board, so may provide some resonance (and may be why I have entirely done away with a sub), but there's still no way these are right I got a second opinion, so to speak, from another ap which actually allows a 'pinch-to-zoom' which changes the scale the graph is shown in, but, if anything, it's even worse! So, can anyone suggest something which is relatively cost-effective? I really don't want to spend all that much, so it may well be that my curiosity will have to go unsatisfied (i.e. I really don't even want to spend 3 figures, let alone 4!) These are the screen-caps from the aps: [attachment=97471:Screenshot_2014-10-18-13-11-19.png][attachment=97472:Screenshot_2014-10-18-13-12-16.png][attachment=97473:Screenshot_2014-10-18-13-17-50.png]
