Between those Forte III and the LaScalas you will be set. Both of those are on my wish list.

You certainly have been cycling through tons of gear of late! Those Walnut Forte are beautiful, GLWTS.
  3. I cut Sweet Baby Ray's with either Frank's Hot Sauce to lessen the sweetness aspect or with "Cajun Power Garlic Sauce" which a member of AK turned me onto, which adds a whole 'nuther dimension to it.
  4. Well I can't see any of the videos that were posted in this thread while here at work, so I will post my top ten female vocalists, some of whom have been mentioned. 1.) Sandy Denny 2.) Irma Thomas 3.) Linda Thompson 4.) Ella Fitzgerald 5.) Alison Krauss 6.) Mahalia Jackson 7.) Angela Strehli 8.) Roseanne Cash 9.)Etta James 10.)Joni Mitchell Today's list is subject to change and I apologize to talents like Karrin Allyson, Marcia Ball, etc. Other artists move up and crack the top ten, but the top 5 is pretty much on lock down.
  5. that would hurt me everytime I looked at them. Considering what you paid for them, I would accept nothing short of perfection upon arrival.
  6. Due to the efficeincy of Chorus IIs I find that the vast majority of my listening is done at 1/8th to 1/4 of 1 watt. Cranking it up was between 1/4 to 1/2 a watt and 1 watt was enough to drive me out of the room I think you will find 80 watts are more than up to the task.
  7. Sorry to hear about your troubles, talk about the extremes of human emotion. The joy and pride I am sure you felt regarding your son's marriage and welcoming a daughter in law into your family and them losing your elder brother hours later. Stay strong for your family, they need you now.
  8. My buddy came home from his hitch in the Navy, circa 1981(?) with a pair of Heresy 1's and a Yamaha integrated Amp. Best sounding speakers i ever heard. Knew right then I would own Klipsch speakers in my future, I was listening to EPI 90's at the time & still have those. I went to Continental Sound in Queens which was the local Klipsch dealer and audtioned Forte II, when I asked the salesman what was next up the foodchain he showed me the Chorus II in the brochure. I figured if I loved the Forte, I would REALLY love the Chorus II, I ordered them without auditioning them. One of the better decisions of my life. Picked up the Chorus the same day I was moving into my first apartment. Too bad the elevator was out, my friends carried the Chorus up six flights of stairs into my studio apartment. I am not quite sure burgers at Jackson Hole restaurant and a bottle of champagne for their wives made up for the effort expended. I still have them, freshend up with Crites upgrades, and they still sound wonderful. I can't see ever parting with them.

    Summer Concerts?

The only old geezer concert I would be willing to go to would be a Kinks reunion. Always one of my favorite bands to see live, partly due to the unpredictability of the shows, "Kinks Konkers" as their fans are known, would scale paper plates onto the stage with requests written on them. Ray Davies would randomly pick one up and hold it up for the band to see, they would then break into that request. Given the bad blood between the brothers Davies, Ray & guitarist Dave, as well as between drummer Mick Avory & Dave Davies. I don't think a reunion tour is in the cards. Other than that most of the bands I care about have enough of my money. NEW INFO: Turns out I am wrong on two counts. First Mick Avory is still alive and now The Kinks are going to do a reunion tour after 20 years! That is one concert I will make an effort to see. The Kinks are a great live show with an endless parade of rock anthems. Besides the obvious, You Really Got Me & Lola, there is Waterloo Sunset, Tired Of Waiting, Celluloid Heroes, Till The End Of The Day, Where Have All The Good Times gone, Victoria, Stop Your Sobbing, Alcohol, Sleepwalker, etc. Go See The Kinks!
  10. Sorry, no experience with either of those amps. I love the build quality and functionality of the Rotel amps. Have an amplifier shootout and let your ears be your guide.
  11. Welcome to the forum and please enjoy the speakers that your father left you. I will second a lot of what TWK posted above and I am a fan of the Bob Crites upgrade to vintage Klipsch speakers. There is no need for you to rush into doing anything, in the meanwhile you can enjoy the speakers as they are. Bob Crites is a very nice approachable man, who will gladly help you decide what is best for you to do as far as bringing the speakers back up to spec. On the back of the speaker should be a tag with the seial number of the speakers, the folks here will gladly decode it for you, along with the crossover type that TWK mentioned. The serial number may also be printed into the back of the speaker along the top of the frame. The Crossover upgrade from Bob is a drop in and connect the wires, type of thing, very easy. Bob will make suggestions given your budget. Don't be afraid to ask questions, the folks here at the forum are very helpful. It makes us proud to get a classic pair of Klipsch speakers back up and running as they should.
  12. Thanks for the info Chris, I will give the tone controls a spin! I am not a huge classical fan, maybe 50 or so cds. Not all of which are the greatest pressings, that might contribute to my perception of what I hear.
  13. Welcome to the Klipsch forums, sounds like you have some great equipment. I cannot speak to the Rotel RA-1570, but I do own two other Rotel Integrated amplifiers. I run a Rotel RA-1070 with my Klipsch Forte II's and am very happy with the sound. I have a more recent Rotel Integrated amp. the Rotel RA-12, that currently runs my Klipsch Chorus II's. I think Rotel equipment offers excellent value for the money and is considered by many to be entry level audiophile equipment. ( Not for me, it was the best I could afford at the time! ) For me, Rotel is a natural pairing with Klipsch speakers, much like Harman/Kardon, Marantz & McIntosh. I also own 3 Rotel CDP's, two 1072's and a 1055 changer, so you could say I am a fan of their products. Your written english is quite good, no need for apologies. As they say in the play My Fair Lady, regarding english, "In America, they haven't spoken it for years!
  14. To my ear massed strings are the most difficult thing for a speaker to reproduce. Individual violin solos much less so. In addition to the quality of the source equipment, I believe the room, i.e. reflections, rugs, bare walls, distance from the speakers etc, effect classical music moreso than other less demanding forms of music. Just my opinion, YMMV.

  16. oldtimer, I guess that man of the cloth is not familiar with Micah: 6:8 Do Justly, Love Mercy and Walk Humbly with Thy God................ if there is any justice in this world that old goat will die in a plane crash.

    What I Got Today!

I think Diana Krall is a better piano player than she is a singer. She tends to get a bit breathy in her delivery, which limits her to a second tier jazz singer in my book. She does choose excellent material from the jazz canon that suits her style perfectly and has stellar sidemen on her albums. Don't think I am being too critical, I have 8 or so of her records.

Sail on Big Man, I always enjoyed your posts.
  19. The posts of our resident curmudgeon Thebes always trigger me. The commiserate increase in my blood pressure and degradation of my sense of wellness after reading another of his diatribes forces me to scurry to my nearest safe space. In NYC, that is the subway, where I can get all of the "violative" action I want for $2.75.
  20. On the bright side the wedding of Prince Harry will generate approximately $1 billion in economic activity for the British economy. On the other side of the tuppence, this Markle lady is one step above boozy white trash. Her family is bad news and I am sure Lizzy is none too pleased that she is marrying into the royal family, or The Firm as it is known. I will make the over/under 6 years on a divorce. Harry will move onto some fair English rose.
  21. I must admit to being a wee bit jealous, enjoy them and welcome once again to the Klipsch Forums.
  22. The 12 year old/Lot B is excellent. I have not been lucky enough to try the 15 year old. For my money I preferred the 20 year to the 23. The 20 year old Pappy was in the best 3 drinks I have had in my life. The thought of selling my unopened bottle has occurred to me after seeing recent auction prices.
  23. Silversport, I never thought you would let go of your Chorus. I think they are awesome, especially after the Crites upgrades. Someone needs these in their life. GLWTS.
  24. I have some Tinsley Ellis tunes on various Alligator Record compilations, I like his sound. If you are signed to Alligator records, I probably like your music. Glad you enjoyed the show.
