  1. It would only happen once! 👿 Easy for me to say, I guess, but who knows what goes on when I'm not around!
  2. Wow! Gorm's garage sale items (BMS mids, Beyma tweeters) give you a one stop shop for some awesome parts... better than the neighbors deserve!

  5. I was never one to ask someone to hold my beer... I'd finish it first. Personally, I'm more nervous about the plumbing side of installing a water heater as opposed to the electrical. I even had a "pro" snap off the supply pipe inside the wall and then scramble looking for the main shutoff. I drove up to see a river flowing out of the garage. He was having his assistant cut the old pipe... well duh!

    FS: MHDT Pagoda

It'd be great to hear about comparisons with the Havana! The Western Electric was my favorite tube for that DAC.
  7. Storms? Power almost always rock solid. Sunny days? Outages for hours!
  8. I understand there is a version with a side opening. I’ll have to get the newer version of the plans I guess? It would be nice to have some aiming choices. Not a lot of placement choices but a few anyway
  9. I quit a few years ago since it was tearing up my stomach. It looked like a minefield.
  10. I've heard less than stellar comments about the dual driver version of the BMS 4592 compared to the bms 4592nd-mid (single driver). Do you have an idea what those folks were missing compared to what you are doing? I love the idea of the concentric driver and the Tannoy version in their Canterbury speakers are stellar for sure!
  11. There isn't a low profile (or tall) version of the F-20 is there?
  12. It has been so long I honestly don't remember the reasons I decided against the F-20. Seems like I was staying away from a tapped horn because of the definite need for EQ but I might need a little either way. I was also going with the low profile version of the THT so there was the placement capability taking up only 18"x18" of floor space.
  13. Now that I've found them I might put them here for sale. I want to build THT's instead.
  14. You have the SW-12 or KSW-12? I bought the KSW many years ago and it is boomy... that is just what it does. Fine for home theater for the kids but not for music. I'm sure I could improve things if I put in effort on the setup.
  15. Regarding lifespan of tubes... I bought my first VRD amp (stereo version) in 2011 along with the tubes that had been used by the original owner. A year or so later I also got mono-blocks. I have NEVER yet had a tube fail in these. My power tubes in the monoblocks easily have 4,000 hours on them... I've swapped them with others a few times otherwise I'd say more like 6-7,000. I've lost a total of 2 tubes ever since 2009! One was a rectifier in a Scott 299b and the other was a 5670 from a DAC. I have something running a tube in my home almost every day of the year. People talk about tubes as if they are light bulbs designed to burn out. I don't think that is a completely valid comparison especially for tubes built for military or hospital equipment. By the way, I have incandescent bulbs in my house that have never been replaced in 21 years. The rest have been replaced with CFL's or LED bulbs and many of them have been replaced more than once. Tube lifespan just doesn't appear to be much of a concern.
  16. The A5’s can do great! I hope to hear 6’s so I can compare. Exactly what I think about for work when the time comes
  17. No affiliation: 822 Sunset in Chillicothe, Missouri by Lance Croy Auctions. https://joplin.craigslist.org/clt/d/october-13th-giant-mans-baby/6694963592.html
  18. I have 2 of the woofers for the Table Tubas... never taken out of the box. Not sure what I paid but I'll sell for less. PM me if interested.

  20. It's "Beautimous" ... Mel Brooks I think. Jupiters are simply awesome in a crossover! I'll bet these are the best sounding AA's anywhere!
  21. I set a tube trap dead center with the reflective side facing forward. Sliding it forward and back focuses the image however I like... moves the center stage to where I want it. Very cool! My kids think that is where the speaker is located.
  22. OK... how about less than 2 bucks each? $135 Shipped US If no takers I'll put them back in storage. If I didn't have these I'd jump at this!
